i <3 Zach. IMO keep him and play Marbs and NY is in the 4 seed right now.

Can we just do a little identity check here?

Who's better, Marbury or Ridnour?

Ridnour in every year but a contract one

Ridnour wouldn't cut off his nose to spite his face and sit-out a contract year.

I never once claimed Steph is or would be a brighter person coming into this season. Just thought he'd make a helluva 2/cameo point guard esp. in this offense in his contract year.

Actually I've always advocated moving him to the 2 once I realized Isiah would never trade him.

Lets skip over my feelings that if he's un-buyout-able he's probably still uncoachable. Lets also skip over my belief he's a natural born downer and his teammates and coach (the one who dumped him in Phoenix, then here) can't stand him. We can even skip over the fact he's barely played in two years and the last two seasons he did play he couldn't finish because of health issues (be they physical, mental or both). All that aside...

Is there any reason to think at this stage of his career he's a better player than Nate? If so, how? Nate is a better shooter, penetrator, finisher, rebounder, and defender. Marbury was never a world class passer or playmaker (as evidenced by your interest in moving him to SG,) so I don't think he's even got an advantage there.

So I'm really having a hard time seeing where you're coming from.

a healthy Marbury is a better score than Nate. Guy gets to the line 7 to 8 times a night for his career. He came into the season in shape so I'm assuming he was healthy.

Nate aside.

Also a healthy Marbury in the guard rotation means never having to see such stomach turning sights like Duhon playing 40 plus minutes a game, Q chucking brick after brick, Jared Jefries playing backup point...

I think its reasonable to ask whether Marbury has ever been mentally healthy.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

Be specific, how is he a better scorer? Have you watched Steph the last few years? The dude's got no lift, he can't finish. I reiterate, based on Marbury's last few years, Nate is a better shooter, penetrator and finisher. Speculations of what "might be" this year are left to each individual's imagination and could justifiably range from horrible to Kobe-like. But the reality of the last few years is unimpressive at best.

Nate aside.

Yeah, if anyone can restore our sense of pride it's our 33, 23, 33, 23 win leader.

Culture change be damned, I'm back in the truck.

Steph has come to camp out of shape the last 3 years. This year was a different story.

And IMHO the culture change theorem is a bunch of horse ish.

With Steph out the picture what has really changed:

mental toughness: FAIL

ability to make smart plays and execute when the game gets tight: FAIL

defense: FAIL

overall coachability of the team: well according to MDA, only 1 of the 30 losses is on him; so once again FAIL

Nates a chucker. Steph before whatever events led up to him ultimately getting a 3 tatted on his head had a killer midrange game scoring wise. He just sucked at being a creative playmaker.

Steph's knees and ankles have been breaking down since 2002, but somehow because he dropped a few pounds you think a guy who's not as good a PG as Ridnour, and not as good a SG as Nate, and who's teammates can't bear sitting next to him, was going to carry us for the season.
And IMHO the culture change theorem is a bunch of horse ish.

I don't see anyone threatening their coaches with dirt.

I don't see anyone leaving the team when they're asked to come off the bench.

I don't see people fighting in the showers.

I don't see games where the team throws in the towel in the first quarter.

I don't see the whole bench sulking under towels.

I don't see anyone on the bench unwilling to cheer on his teammates.

I don't see anyone avoided by his teammates.

I don't see anyone refusing to come off the bench.

I don't see anyone proclaiming themselves "The Best" and then being left out to dry by his teammates.

I don't see anyone calling the coach insecure.

I don't see any players thinking this is their team and they run things.

I don't see anyone being voted off the team.

This team is still utterly devoid of quality leadership, but at least it's no longer being driven into the gutter by negative leadership.

* If this was about playing pg, Luke Ridnour's stature in my eyes would be relevant but its not

* AND I think he would have been a better 2 than Nate. He takes better shots than Nate and is a way more efficient scorer. Plus he has shown he can guard te position better than anyone we currently have.

The ankle problems IMO took a greater toll on his ability to move because he coupled that with not being in game shape. Last time he was in shape was probably the 04-05 season and he had no problems physically. In fact he had one of his most efficient scoring campaigns of his career.

To me the bottom line is the option to deactivate and banish Steph was a card management always had the option to play. Therefore seeing if he could actually contribute was a low risk high reward play.
I think he could've, you think he would've wrecked yet another season. Well suprise suprise the Knicks are on pace for magic number 33 again and Steph hasn't stepped on teh court once.

* Overall without Steph I see nothing changed but a few more towels available behind the bench.

Maybe everybody is up and cheering the best 0-3 week a losing team could statistically have. Whoopty-woo!

Steph's not out there, good guys like Duhon Nate and Lee direct the flow of the offense so why is there a good 3 pages in the thread below concerning what appears to be a blatant freeze out of the offense of arguably the best outside shooter on the team - Danilo. The guy also has playmaking skills but does he get the ball and do people make room for him to show it?

PS
"I don't see anyone fighting in the showers" - Are you insinuating Marbury told Nate to go jump Malik in the showers?
