If anyone wants, here is his speech:

Now when the victory is a reality it's time to think whats coming:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/04/zelizer.new.president/index.html
During his speeches in the final week of the campaign, Obama said to his supporters that together, "we will change this country. We will change the world."

Those are some pretty big promises. Unfortunately for Obama, most presidents since WWII have suffered from the freshmen blues in their first year in the White House.

Expectations are usually high and the ability of a president to deliver much of what he promised on the campaign trail is rather low. Without a national crisis like 9/11, presidents have struggled in their first year with a general decline in approval ratings.

The reasons are not difficult to understand. International and domestic crises force the White House to focus on unexpected issues, many of which are not in their best political interest. The bitter partisan and intra-party tensions that had caused gridlock for the previous administration remain. Budgetary limits constrain how much tax-cutting or spending increases can take place.

When a president takes office with expectations as high as those for Obama, the chances for avoiding a post-election letdown are virtually nil.
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Hamlet

I work in an evironment where I go and deal with high level people at large corporations. The majority of the one's I know well were McCain supporters and as white as snow. They were all disappointed that McCain lost, but none seem to feel that it's the end of the world. Most have the view that they just hope he turns out to be a good president for the country. There will always be those that are ignorant and ridiculous. I think the majority of the people in the US just want to live there lives and want the president to lead the way. I don't think the people you work with are representative of the majority.

At my work I have heard nothing but high fives, singing and some resignation from the McCain supporters. But very few negative things about Obama. Concern about the economy and his policies, but nothing ignorant.
I just hope that people will like me

You want to see something? Read some comments in some newspapers down south or in some of the middle states. The attitudes and mentalities of some of those people are just.... wow.

That's why I don't go below the Mason Dixon line . There are plenty of fools everywhere. Some seem to concentrate in some areas. But the majority don't think that way. The vocal minority just make us think that this is the case.

Remember in the Middle East there is a vocal minority who thinks that all americans are the devil and should die. There are many that would happily try to carry this out. The majority don't think that way. This is no different.

The guy in the blue shorts at the end. Come on man, take a dam-n charge. When I say no one goes in the lane untouched I mean no one! Even the most powerful man in the world. He's not so powerful when the ref is pointing in the other direction.
