Holy crap. The Celtics went all browne-sanders on us tonight.

completely awesome comment
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I'm glad we got smacked like this. Deflate some of the egos on the team. Maybe this will translate into better play in the regular season

everyone needs to stop trying to spin this as a potential wake up call. last year, this same group of players got smacked like this all the time- and they never responded.

this year will be like last year except we've got zach instead of fry. we're going to struggle to get into the thirties for win total.

fred jones is not the answer for weak perimeter defense. trading crawford and releasing marbury and starting collins and dnic would be a better answer.

Last night we showed how bad we can really be. Of course, with the talent we have, we are gonna get some wins, but again this isn't a playoff team by a longshot. Baseball fans know that to win in October you need two things going: great pitching and timely hitting. Well, in basketball we need defense and chemistry, and we have none of that. And those who say that they just don't know each other well, tell me how incredibly revamped is this team that most of the players were here last year. Zach is lost, ok, but what about Curry, Crawford, Q-Rich, Marbury? Yeah, its preseason, but that will be the song all year long.

This is not about a 40 point preseason loss. This is about waking up from the dream in which the Knicks had a title run or even a shot at the playoffs. They were exposed for their worst abilities, which are the ones good teams have. We can score 100+ many nights with our core going. But the opposing team will score 110+ with our defense.

If you can say something good about Isiah's job is that he has brought more attractive players when talking trade. We definitely have talent. But make no mistake, we are terrible TEAM. This team needs balance and more defense. The only way we will fix this mess is by trading some of the excess of talent we have for team players. So bring on next season. We will be a losing team again. But Isiah will have no more excuses and he will go. Then, a new GM will be brought and he will trade many of these players to create a balanced team. With a new coach, we will be better prepared for the other season. Thats my best hope to fix this complete (on court and off court) Knicks mess.

This is your last season, Isiah...

The scary thing is, it' debatable whether the players he's brought in have more trade value than the expiring contracts and draft picks he began with.

I mean, a guy like Marbury has zero trade value. Less than zero, you'd have to give talent and draft picks for teams to take him from you. And if you're in the hunt for a star are you better off offering say, Crawford and Curry, or their combined salaries in expiring contracts plus the 2 1st round picks we gave up for Curry? Those are just a couple of arbitrary examples.

The irony is that the excuse so many gave of these under-acheivers was that they had too many coaches, or came from unstable systems, and that they were supposed to become grounded here with Isiah and Marbury as leaders -- but the Knicks under isiah have been the most unstable, high-turmoil team in the league.

Well, Marbury isn't really a problem because next season is his last one. So trading him isn't a priority, its rather a matter of time to wait for him to go away.

Your point on our players is true. Its been frustrating to see Isiah only look for those kind of players, creating an NBA Life-type of team that looks great on paper and awful as a group. Now, some of our players, given a real coach with a plan to maximize their abilities and complement their weaknesses with other players of their teams, can really be part of a winning basketball team. Most of them are young so they are more attractive to teams looking for a trade.

It will just never work here with Isiah and this kind of team. Its an illusion to think that they can be winners when they are just a bunch of talented young players that know nothing about playing as a team. They need a real coach with a real plan. And they need to go to a more balanced team where their strenghts can be put to better use...

Agreed. Way back when I used to bash some of these guys and people would say it's nonsense to belive guys like Steph are born losers because of their record, that they could be put on some team or another and win. And I agreed, that put Marbury into a role like Avery johnson or Derek Fisher had he could probably win. But that assumes A) he would accept such role, and B) he'd not be a locker-room distraction, because the truth of the matter was that guys like Avery and Fisher brought wisdom and leadership to their teams and that's why they have coaching/executive potential while Marbury has none.

My larger point in all this is that strong stable teams can absorb a misfit or two, but a core of them is doomed. Isiah has built this team on a foundation of quicksand, ad I don't think a 40-something win season will appreciably alter that. There are many a building with faulty structures that look good and stand proud, until there is a sink hole, or god forbid, an earth quake, then it all comes tumbling down. The Pacers may be a recent example.

So sure, take anyone of these guys and put them on the Spurs or Pistons and watch them contribute and shine, but put them all together and... make sure you wear your hardhat.

Just fixed the DJ link.

Holy hell. Just saw the play Bip was referring to where KG beat the whole team back, it's about 2/3 the way through.

VMart - once observers get beyond the hysterics the question is:

... can the abyssmal shooting tonight be fixed? If so, How?

You cant be this positive. I love you to death, but you just cant...even Job would be burning up his Knicks gear.

While I agree that this game *could* be a wake up call, I'm more than dismayed that the starters were outperformed to such a degree when going into the season the Knicks, individually and as an organization, have been continually disrespected by the media and fans and have been turned into walking punchlines.

I'm still waiting for the Knicks to take accountability and fulfill their potential. This is inexcusable given the circumstances and like I said earlier, I believe this sort of a loss is not indicative of talent or the lack thereof. These past seasons are not a result of "bad execution".

It cant keep going on like this...you got to understand me!

PS

the abyssmal shooting got fixed
once a knick always a knick
