you were gonna say he was similar to Ariza before you even watched.

What do you think he looks like---are you watching the game? He had two dunks, he was porous on the D, he made a few scrap plays. Overall he was not on par with what we saw out of Ariza--but hes a very similar player. I knew once he played with bigger guys, rebounding would be a concern. He can dribble drive, but nothing that made me say pick 20 more like pick 50. Collins played passively--the 2005 guys both last year in SL and this year are WAY WAY WAY better talent wise.

Briggs, remember when you wrote off Frye after one game in the Summer League last year? And then you decided Frye was barely a fringe NBA prospect after he got ten fouls in the Summer league in like game 3? I know you're upset about passing on Marcus, but let's give these kids a chance.

You mean like when he dissed marbury to shout a few days later that he was unguardable ?
Or like when he said mcdyess was a very bad trade and then shouted after a couple preseason games that that guy was a beast and we should build around him ?

Balkman has trevor ariza like skills. Did anyone who watched the game think otherwise? I mean what skills did he show that were different from ariza? or comparable to whom?

He kind of reminded me of Lavor Postell, with better dribble and less shooting touch.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

This coming from the man who said Channing Frye had BUST WRITTEN ALL OVER HIM after watching 2 summer league games last summer. Right.

I argued with the guy who runs draftexpress that Channing Frye was a lottery pick. Was I peod that we took frye over Bynum yes, so i was probably a little hard on Frye after he picked up 90 fouls in the first two games, but well BEFORE ANYONE on this website said any words about channing frye, I already gave him a nice sermon, but i didnt think he was a 7 pick. This is different from balkman--he is not a skill player like channing or nate or marcus Williams and he isnt worth pick 20. I dont even know what position he plays. NBA 3?

I will tell you who reminds me of rodman---david Lee--david lee continues to show he is a superior rebounder who looks like he has worked hard to advance his ofensive skill sets. If it were my decision, I think that Id be playing David Lee 35 minutes for the Knicks BIg league team. David Lee is the kind of player you win with

Shannon Brown looked just as good as Balkman did in this game........ is he worth the 20th pick???

Guy looked like he has the tools to a very good defensive player. He looked quick enough to stay with anybody, just doesn't look comfortable playing like a three on offence. But he is injuried and probably does have some butterflys.

granted it was against non NBA talent but he certainly looked good around the basket today.

Briggs, Balkman is not trevor ariza........ not even close.. he blocks shots.... trevor was not a shot blocker... hes also a lot more powerful than trevor and a WAY better ball handler.... u said he was pourus on D i beg to differ.. i saw him close out very efficiantly on many occasions. I think he will be a good player, maybe not quite a gerald wallace but thats the type of style he will play

Lee is definitely the kind of guy you need to have a balanced 5 on the court. the guy does so many littles things.

Unlike Ariza, Balkman is a powerful athlete. Look at the way he finishes that stuff. And despite the early turnover, he actually looks comfortable dribbling ball, as opposed to Trevor who liked he was chasing the ball when he dribbled.

if Balkman gives a bigger impact than TrevorAriza his first year--I will put Balkman on my homepage for a year. There are subtle differences--like the width of balkmans shoulders and the length of trevor ariza, but the theme there is the same---although i see Ariza as a better talent. Strength? Well, lets review that dunk that Ariza put on Ben Wallace.

Wow. If I only followed your reviews, I'd be led to believe that Balkman is the next Jordan. Trevor Ariza sounds like a 6'8" version of Felton Spencer.

That's basically what you guys are getting at. Why? Because Balkman is a Knick, and Ariza isn't.

Balkman could be pretty decent, but he looked very raw out there. He looked good on the fast break, I'll give him that.
