Derrick Rose is not returning this month. They are being extra cautious. Probably a good thing as he is the franchise player

Derrick Rose 'far away' from return

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose said Monday that he's "far away" from returning from ACL surgery, and he vowed he won't return until he's "110 percent."

Rose's rehab has progressed to the point that he's taking full contact, and although some have speculated he'll return shortly after the All-Star break, Rose was more cautious.

"I don't have a set date," Rose told USA TODAY Sports. "I'm not coming back until I'm 110 percent. Who knows when that can be? It can be within a couple of weeks. It could be next year. It could be any day. It could be any time. It's just that I'm not coming back until I'm ready."

Asked how close he is to 110 percent, Rose estimated "in the high 80s."

The 24-year-old former MVP also said he has added nearly 10 pounds of muscle.

Bulls management has been steadfast in maintaining that Rose won't be allowed to return until doctors ensure he won't face any more of a risk than any other player. Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said he doesn't want to take the same risk he did with Michael Jordan, who broke a bone in his foot in his second season. Jordan returned without any further complications, but Reinsdorf said he won't take that risk with Rose.

The Bulls have exceeded some expectations without Rose and entered play Tuesday fourth in the East and a half-game behind Indiana for the Central Division lead.

Rose tore his left ACL on April 28 in the first game of the Bulls' opening-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, who went on to upset top-seeded Chicago in six games. Rose underwent surgery on May 12, and the prognosis was for eight to 12 months of rehabilitation.

No but will once he gets to 100 % and is waiting for the extra 10% until he returns.

I wonder if other teams fan bases get angry after their team loses to the Bobcats or a depleted SA team or a Byk team without WIlliams.

There are lots of NBA coaches who I'd put ahead of Thibodeau. He's not on Gregg Popovich's level ala someone who's put up 17 years of consecutive winning seasons along with 7 Western Conference Final appearances (4-3) to go along with 4 NBA Championships.

Tom Thibodeau on the other hand, has only been a head coach dating back to 2010-2011 while taking over for a team in which not only had an elite NBA star in Derrick Rose (already) in place, but was also coming off consecutive seasons of postseason appearances. A team on the rise under Rose to say the least.

Derrick Rose (without Tom Thibodeau) as only a rookie, took the Boston Celtics 7 games during the first round of the playoffs.

Yes, during 2010-2011 Chicago did land a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals during Thibodeau's first season as an NBA coach, but were then eliminated 4-1 against Miami and then last year? Couldn't even get past the 76ers during the first round. With or without Derrick Rose, there is no excuse for being eliminated by the 35-31 76ers by the count of 4-2. Not if you're made out to be some type of defensive genius there isn't. He's an overrated head coach.

Tom Thibodeau is a classic example of a head coach in which took over for a very talented Chicago Bulls team. Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson were already in Chicago before Thibbs coached his first game as Bulls head coach. Carlos Boozer also arrived to Chicago the same season as Tom Thibodeau did.

His offensive coaching ability is also very poor to say the least. Nothing against Thibodeau the head coach, he may end up having a great career along with lots of Success with Chicago, but there are lots of other NBA coaches in which deserve to be placed ahead of Thibodeau himself.

Nope. Because Derrick Rose wouldn't sit out an entire postseason series at 85%. You'd have to drag Rose off the court before that'll ever happen.

Also since you're trying to turn this into a Jeremy Lin topic of discussion, Jeremy Lin sat out at 85% due to the simple fact he was fearful of the Miami Heat. Fearful of being exposed by a great Miami defense in which exposed Lin during the regular season. Fearful of losing millions upon millions of dollars during the offseason by potentially being exposed by LeBron James and the Miami Heat. And that's exactly what Jeremy Lin did, sat out during an entire postseason series at 85% before later cashing out during the postseason.

Please, do not compare this situation to Jeremy Lin. Jeremy Lin is no Derrick Rose and Rose himself would never sit out a postseason series at 85% healthy.

I'll be watching Portland @ Miami tonight. Pulling for a Miami loss along with a Knicks win tomorrow night in order to head into all-star weekend only 1 1/2 games behind Miami. Chances are, Miami wins tonight but hey, this is basketball and it's why they play the games. No such thing as a free and/or given win.

Here I thought he sat out at the urging of his teammates but who are you to get on anyone flipping Gabby Douglas gymnastics in a thread. You can't operate in a Scussin without doing so.

Blake slipped the pick as his man was a bit late on help. Hawes should've slid over.

I don't think Lin should have come back and I don't think he was ready. That being said he showed he was all about getting his money when he declined to play for the USA Select Team.

Unfortunately, the vagaries of labor negotiations and the NBA calendar have rendered it all but impossible for Lin to get his contract situation and next move in free agency sorted out in time to hit the workouts in Vegas.

Yeah I am sure. He said it.
"It was such an incredible honor to be selected, but I have withdrawn my name from the team because of my status as a free agent,"

http://espn.go.com/olympics/summer/2012/basketball/story/_/id/8124797/jeremy-lin-new-york-knicks-greg-stiemsma-boston-celtics-withdraw-us-select-team
He also fired his agent. Interesting stuff came out from his new agent at that time.

Tanner declined to comment on Lin’s chances of re-signing with the Knicks, saying he is too new to the situation.
Lin is supposed to play for the U.S. Select Team that will face Team USA during scrimmages starting July 5, but his contract won’t be finalized until July 11. There is precedent for free agents pulling out of the Select Team.

“I don’t want to comment on that yet,’’ Tanner said.

Checked the boxscore to the denver game and Gallo, Iggy and Chandler are not playing. Is there a trade in the works, injuries or are these guys just resting?
