In a few years she could be the biggest name in basketball by a large margin and she is being torn down by her own league. The raise your kids to be executives part of the tweet is nonsense though. |

Meanwhile Silver couldn’t sell water in the desert. The nba needs the refs to start giving the Knicks lebron style calls in games so they can dominate and become the league’s next dynasty. That’s how the tv ratings can recover. The Knicks play their stars every night. The lakers and warriors rest their big names and the start times of their games is 10:30 EST. Karl Anthony Towns shouldn’t be fouling out of a regular season game while the entire Hawks roster is allowed to hack him. |

![]() seems the NBA is doing just fine.........
https://www.statista.com/statistics/193467/total-league-revenue-of-the-nba-since-2005/ And has been for a Long time. The last 10 years are on Adam Silver. My small take: I believe there are fewer and fewer faces of pro sports. Fewer athletes transend into societal icons as in the past. Sure there a few. Hockey? No Gordie Howe or Gretzkys. Sure the hockey world knows its best players, but whose on the box of Wheaties? Football? Who are its biggest stars now? Baseball? Americas sport right? Biggest stars are are not identifiable. Not like Babe ruth, Reggies Jax, Jackie Robinson, etc. Basketball? Lebrun and Curry are in their twilight. curry is the darling. Lebron is a brand. Wemby is up next, but not yet. My point is leagues have parity due to economics of how it works. Like it or not, and they marketing teams over players. Maybe its because foreign players don't transcend into mainstream culture. Not like "Wilt the Stilt did". Nobody has come close to what Jordan has done. Clark is everything and more. I agree with most of what Clear has to say and think the kid has been not been marketed properly but she seems to be doing it all anyway. If she goes down with a bad knee, or any injury that inhibits where performance the league cannot afford to put all their chips in her, and.......since there was exposure to other players and teams because she drew them in it makes sense to try to elevate the other teams and players also. Media and social created the Clark/Reese thing over two years of NCAA ball. Reese won the battle and has NCAA chip in year one but came off badly given the narrative of her urban approach vs. Clarks lily-white. This is ugly America that crated it and social media recycled it back. Don't blame social media, they feed what the public wants. Allan Iverson was one of the biggest stars but he was too "urban" for mainstream. Jordan came into the league with that University of Carolina goodness after winning a NCAA chip. Reese won a chip but remembered for her arrogance. Jordan image was well crafted and he kept his indiscretions out of the spotlight. Iverson wore his cred and attitude on his sleeve. So does Angel Reese. Is it wrong? I don't know. Is it racism if public does not buy into them? Is it fair? It is what it is. Not everyone likes it. When your endorsing products and paying for results, like it or not it does. |

I have come to learn that this league is totally unserious and suffers from a crab in bucket mentality when the person saving them is as you said white and straight. |

![]() To bring things back to actual basketball the coaches who made a 10 page scouting report and implemented it to slow down Caitlin during the playoffs is now helping her to fix all the holes they saw in her game. The plan worked game one but Caitlin adjusted in game 2 and was her normal dominate self. The Fever stole Coach Stephanie White from the Sun. During one of the first conversations after White was hired Caitlin asked for the full scouting report they made on her so she could study it.

A "crab in a bucket mentality" refers to a behavior where people actively try to hinder the progress or success of others, particularly when those others are attempting to achieve something that they themselves cannot, often stemming from envy or insecurity, similar to how crabs in a bucket will pull each other back down if one tries to climb out; essentially, "if I can't have it, neither can you.". |

![]() Might be the smartest thing I heard Matt Barnes say. He even did his research. It's also interesting that its mostly men coming to her defense. When a reporter asked a question the players did not like the WNBA player association made a statment instantly and tried to get her fired. They are really quiet now that the person being attacked is Caitlin. They using those Ciatlin numbers during CBA negotiations though.

To me, the wnba doesn’t have enough good players so they really should just stfu and enjoy the ride. They are finally going to get a raise. |

![]() This thread is for people who are interested in the business and negotiation side of womans basketball. It also gives you an idea of Caitlins mentality in everything she does. She has agents but she was extremely involved in negotiations and ended getting the biggest shoe contract in womans basketball history. Juju and A'ja has since got shoe deals after Caitlin but if you listen to how they refer to both of those deals as "one of the largest..." it tell you Caitlin still has the biggest deal.
Click it to read the full thing. It is a little long but an interesting read with lots of info that would otherwise be hard to come by. Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: |

![]() Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: Now this is interesting. Throughout history few teams got all the talent. Now after seeing how big of a star Caitlin became going to a normal school over a powergouse other seem to be trying the same. It allowed her to play her game and not try to force her into a bad system. I hope it stays this way. A mid coach like Geno got a huge ego because he thought he was gods gift to coaching when he just got a ton more talent than everyone else. He has shown when he faces teams near his teams talent level he can't win it all. |
