This works in our favor if we are smart. Let the two teams who want him bid against each other and take the best possible deal.

the trade deadline has been moved up to 10 days before the all-star break. So maybe by then we will see something happen.

Houston gets:melo
Denver gets:Lenard,ariza
Portland gets:Anderson
New York gets: harkless, mudiay, and faried

It works via trade machine

KP,Oquinn,Noah
Willy,faried,lance
Harkless,lance,kuz
Timmy,lee,Dotson
Frank,baker,mudiay

That s the best scenario i ve seen so far. However, Denver would like a better return i think. Maybe kuz or koq

It looks like the time is here for Melo to finally move on. Now all that is left to do is to hope we don't get taken advantage of in this trade like we usually do.

The guy on clutch fans forums who broke the idea of a 4th team a few days ago says he thinks the 4th team is the grizzlies (so they'd get myers- they could give up their 1 year contract players)

Yeah its been drawn out too long. On one hand I'm glad we aren't settling for a crappy return full of bad contracts but I'm ready to move on with the youth era

I just hope we get at least one first round pick.
That is the most important asset, in my opinion.
From a trade perspectice (to combine a first round pick and say one of THj, Frank or Willy is serious value in trade) it sets us up better for the future. If we are talking a disgruntled all star that wants to team up with Kristaps, then maybe two first rounders (one our own and the one from Melo trade) as well as THJ or Willy or Frank.

Not saying I want to see a trade like that but it would be a great asset to have in trade talks this coming year to have two draft picks to work in the first round, We could feel more comfortable giving up one in a future trade.

Moe Harkless eh. Whomever else we get in the 3 or 4 player trade. Eh. The draft picks are the key. Get that draft pick by all means, Mills. If you really have learned something from Phil, it's the value of a draft pick.

Lol!

I think every true fan is completely exhauated. Mills got Houston working hard trying to make the Knicks happy. Thats our leverage. We don't have to accept any trade if it doesn't make sense for us.

Again, people need to stop referring to "draft picks" as if it means one thing.

A 20th pick is a LOT more like a 35th pick than it is 10th pick.

'First round' in no way differentiates between qualify of picks. That only thing it qualifies is how many teams are in the league.

Exactly. That's the beauty of Phil leaving. I liked Phil's plan a ton. I think he convinced Dolan to rebuild and sign off on trading stars, letting it go. Great. But so long as he was around, Melo would not play ball and teams knew we HAD to trade him. Now teams think - maybe they'll trade him, maybe they can keep him till his opt out year or deadline. Teams know we're on better terms with Melo. Tim Hardaway wants to play with Melo. Kristaps likes Melo, No Phil. Totally different situation.

This is what I was saying in the other thread. When Dolan and Phil spoke about what's best for the future before his leaving, I'm 99% sure this was one of the main reasons Phil had to go. We can trade Melo on our timeline now. And he doesn't feel like Phil won the war (even though technically he has, since he convinced everyone in NY's front office to sign off on trading him).

I'd be willing to accept Leonard and his awful contract if the 'pick' turned out to be Zach Colllins - not that that's likely to happen.

I agree with everything. I would add too that Phil had to go so we could get back to business. We've been a joke so long. With this trade dragging out it seems that has definately changed. Can't wait to line up the next move.

The fact that its being drawn out, should bold well for us....Seems like we are trying to get the best possible deal in a difficult situation.
