Warriors. So, if they win on Sunday . . . greatest basketball team evah or the greatest basketball team of all time? Or just the greatest basketball team. Period.
I know last year's finals was an ugly blot on the Warriors's record but, whew, having the best record of all time (last year) and then sweeping the playoffs the next year has to put them in the greatest conversation. They are right there with the 95-96 Bulls, IMO. And . . . this Warrior team could get _better_ Curry, Durant, Green, and Thompson are in their prime but probably not their peak. Even if they lose four straight, they are likely to be right back on top of it next year, and the year after. They may not have the deep deep bench they have now in the future but even with nearly all the salary tied up in their main four, they have more assets than most team to make trades for draft picks and so on and have a talented but cheap bench.
Will I never be a Knicks fan again? Am I doomed to a life of chilling with brogrammers?
Maybe the Knicks can make a play for McCaw? I don't see any parts of the Knicks that the Warriors might want but I'd say McCaw is worth a couple of second picks (which do not have a surplus of), maybe even a low first. The kid can play. His D is amazingly solid for a rookie and he did fairly well in 20 starts this year filling in for Durant. (He slumped a bit mid-season, got injured, and got replaced by Ian Clark and Matt Barnes but recovered nicely from his injury/slump and had a solid playoff run filling in for Durant.) Is he the new Dennis Schröder? Probably not but I think he's going to end up starting for _someone_ in a year or two.
