Here's a nice project for you. Why don't you do some research and find a time period in the U.S. where Blacks did as well as Whites in this country. When their schools were equal. When their treatment by law enforcement was equal. When their employment was equal. If you do find something how long did that last? What's it like to be Black today? What do the statistics say?

I agree that we need to be concerned about the present and the future. But "crying about the past" is very much necessary. If everyone in your family was wronged for 258 years like mine and your 94 yr old Grandmother and 70 yr old Father were still alive, how do you think you would feel about forgetting the past? Ask a Jewish family if they should just forget the past. See if they aren't vigilant in trying to make sure they aren't harmed again in any way.

Trump and the Republican Party have nothing to offer minorities in this country. They don't even know how to talk to them without insulting them. More than any other people it's been the constant fight of African Americans for equal rights and fair treatment that have helped this country to escape it's hypocritical posture as a country. What did we get for all of the mostly PEACEFUL protest and Pleadings for equal justice and existence in this country? For the most part what we got was violence and lower class status.

From 1619 thru to 1965 the laws and actions in this country were at odds with the ideals of the Constitution. Even after 1965 how long did it take for the treatment of African Americans to more fully take hold? Did it EVER reach equality??? I was born in 1965 and I can tell you that there has been no time in this country where things have been just and equal in this country. Not for Native Americans, Hispanics or African Americans. Because we are visibly easy to identify and as minorities, easy to ignore and mistreat. It's not about AA's not working hard and trying to improve their circumstances!!!

Just as an example of what happened to AA efforts to succeed in this country, please go to this website and read what kind of things happened in this country to set AA's back every time they started to finally succeed. This is just one of many such tragedies. So don't give me this ISH about it being a young country. African Americans have only wanted what everyone else wants but have been denied for so long. Many of my ancestors are buried in this ground never knowing freedom. This is not a joke to me.

Even with all that. The solutions created to rectify the problems *created* was to throw African Americans in jail.

Now there is a growing Heroin epidemic in the US. Majority users happen to be white. The cause is said to be the pushing of pain killers by pharmaceuticals which has become a gate way for Heroin. Wonder what the solution to rectify this problem will be.

250 million scripts written for opioid based pain killers. That's a bottle of for every American... but blacks are thrown in jail for weed and that stuff is categorized among the worst drugs in the country. Time to start connecting some very simple dots.

Having African Americans have to move out of the ghettos in order to increase the chances of success ensures that only a % of the small % of African Americans will find success. That's not a formula for high success rates.

The only way out imo would be the same as if you were running your own sports franchise. Make moves for the future acquiring draft picks to load up on young talent. Funnel as much money as possible into the development new born minds and new parental assistance(not financialyl but more like a support system) safe guarding them. You provide no solution just looking for explanations of why things are so sad for AA people.

I have some other explanations and some other opinions and will stand for them.
I do not know what the solutions are and believe that things are going normally and similarly to how they went in the past and are going now in other places of the world.
Billions of people are leaving in much worth conditions that AA people in US including almost all AA people native African continent.
The integration of more primitive cultures in mainstream civilization is always a painful process. It takes tens of generations and hundreds of years.
But it is inevitable and we see this slowly settling down one way or another.
We deferentially saw a huge setbacks also and fall of Arabic Muslim culture back into tribal era society from middle age Golden Era is another fresh reminder.

I handled classified documents in the military for 30 years--during the final years as a senior military officer. The FBI report stated that she compromised at least eight Top Secret documents and at least 30 Secret documents. The fact of the matter is that had I compromised JUST ONE Top Secret document, I would have gone to jail and had I done the same thing with a Secret document my career would have been over.

Let me ask you this, when she's president (and she will be) what does she do when a military member or civil servant does the same thing she did? [I'm guessing it'll be similar to Bill Clinton firing generals for "extramarital improprieties."] Incredibly hypocritical by any standard, to say the very least. The FBI report documented her lies so please don't act as if they never happened.

Please also don't act as if Hillary Clinton isn't overwhelmingly flawed and only looks good in comparison to the goofball republican candidate.

Here's a nice project for you. Why don't you do some research and find a time period in the U.S. where Blacks did as well as Whites in this country. When their schools were equal. When their treatment by law enforcement was equal. When their employment was equal. If you do find something how long did that last? What's it like to be Black today? What do the statistics say?

I agree that we need to be concerned about the present and the future. But "crying about the past" is very much necessary. If everyone in your family was wronged for 258 years like mine and your 94 yr old Grandmother and 70 yr old Father were still alive, how do you think you would feel about forgetting the past? I have to say that it annoys me that there is this assumption that African Americans haven't ALWAYS been working to better their circumstances in this country. More than any other people it's been the constant fight of African Americans for equal rights and fair treatment that have helped this country to escape it's hypocritical posture as a country. What did we get for all of the mostly PEACEFUL protest and Pleadings for equal justice and existence in this country? For the most part what we got was violence and lower class status.

From 1619 thru to 1965 the laws and actions in this country were at odds with the ideals of the Constitution. Even after 1965 how long did it take for the treatment of African Americans to more fully take hold? Did it EVER reach equality??? I was born in 1965 and I can tell you that there has been no time in this country where things have been just and equal in this country. Not for Native Americans, Hispanics or African Americans. Because we are visibly easy to identify and as minorities, easy to ignore and mistreat. It's not about AA's not working hard and trying to improve their circumstances!!!

Just as an example of what happened to AA efforts to succeed in this country, please go to this website and read what kind of things happened in this country to set AA's back every time they started to finally succeed. This is just one of many such tragedies. Look at the pictures and the video and perhaps you can imagine what it's been like here for AA's in this country trying to do what everyone else wants to do in bettering themselves.

The integration of more primitive cultures in mainstream civilization is always a painful process. It takes tens of generations and hundreds of years.

We deferentially saw a huge setbacks also and fall of Arabic Muslim culture back into tribal era society from middle age Golden Era is another fresh reminder.
Some civilization never survived the invasion of more primitive tribes like Rom Empire. Etc..

The SOLUTION is JUSTICE and FAIRNESS. What you seem not to understand is that AA's were not allowed to learn how to read or write and were kept in a state of squalor. After slavery AA's immediately made progress but at every turn they were attacked and held back. They were robbed of their wealth and segregated. This has only very recently started to change in our lifetimes. However the attacks have continued in more sophisticated and less crude ways.

As I've stated in multiple ways, the state of AA's in this country is an artificially created situation. There was an effort to oppress AA's in order to maintain White Supremecy. This was done to keep AA's on the farms and in a subservient condition! You in essence are blaming the victims of these tactics as if AA's never tried or wanted to improve their circumstances. This is simply NOT TRUE!!! In fact this is a racist lie as old as this country. The purpose of this lie is to make White Supremecy acceptable. Don't put yourself in the position of supporting this lie.

African Americans should not have to wait as you suggest. We've had to wait for equal justice and fairness long enough. You may not know the solutions as you say but I can tell you things are NOT going as they should. Further more African Americans are not a PRIMITIVE CULTURE that has to be integrated!!!

i admire the stance of the 3rd party candidates but the job of President is bigger than the issues they focus on and I don't believe either Johnson or Stein are really capable of being President. People may not love Hillary but she is really the only logical answer for president this time around. Trump is a joke and a disaster waiting to happen. We already had W. and Trump isn't even a pimple on W's ass. He's just not someone who should get anywhere near the Oval Office.

Currently we are refueling Saudi fighters on bombing raids into southern Yemen and selling arms to most side of the conflict in the middle east...Kurds, Saudis, Iraqis, Turkey, etc...Arming small factions here and there...The image of the potential next Commander in Chief spray painting a bulldozer in protest or the other not having a clue on Aleppo, isn't really comforting..Foreign policy dominates a presidency, always..

To BRIGGS original "where is Hillary" post — maybe if she wasn't hiding from press conferences, she wouldn't constantly have to address this now. Unforced errors, man.

I watched some recap videos from my usual lefty YouTube sources — looks like Matt Lauer is getting called out for not being very journalistic with lack of follow ups to low hanging fruit. Hopefully gets future moderators to up their game.

The format of the Forum was a bit to blame too. Lauer was very concerned about time and since Hillary was giving full in depth answers it ate into the time and he feared he wouldn't get to all of his questions. With Trump he was just talking nonsense and wasn't showing any depth of knowledge. He often didn't answer the question at all. Lauer let him get away with lame answers and lies. Moderators have to do a better job of pinning Trump down, cuz he squirms our of answering all the time.

Hillary may be flawed but at least she actually knows what she's talking about and you know she can do the job. We know she can negotiate with foreign leaders and understand the very serious issues. Her depth of knowledge is vast compared to Trump. Trump was cracking under the pressure last night and putting out word salads. When he did have a clear thought it was often frighteningly wrong.
