LEADERSHIPS FINEST!!!

By far the lowest pt of melos career. I know he is injured but if his actions dont scream diva i dont know whatvdoes. I think im officially joing tkf and the hate club. I am really disgusted with this guy. Biggest baby ive ever seen. This is worse than towel head marbury. I am disgusted with this organization. We are back to being a dysfunction mess of a team. Now we have to wait til 2015 to blow the team up again and start from scratch. I hope we continue to lose and the Nyets pass us in the standings and we are swept in the first round so **** face Dolan has no choice but blow this mismosh team up this offseason

He'll just acquire the next Melobury. It will excite about 80% of the fan base, and Dolan will use that player until he's no longer profitable.
Anyone else realize we should have sold high? MS and I were the only ones arguing we should trade him when he was winning player of the month awards.

and usage rate-- that's a career high too. credit the woodson-iso philosophy... you know, the one that has gotten his teams annihilated in the playoffs?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Im not stat savvy at all but Melo didnt iso nearly as much in the beginning of the season as he has recently
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

i can go through the game logs later and tell you what he was doing on that front, but for now i will hazard that what masked the deleterious effects of the usage rate is the fact that he was hitting his 3 point shots at around 46%. seems like eons since those first 10-15 games.

game 1 38.6 and 10.4 ast rate, which is the percentage of the time a teammate was assisted when melo was on the floor. that ratio is 3.71:1
game 2 29.8 and 4.6, ratio of 6.48:1
game 3 32.8 and 11.3, 2.90
game 4 39.6 and 6.6, 6.0
game 5 30.4 and 7.9, 3.85
game 6 18.1 and 10.0 1.81 the spurs game
game 7 35.5 and 6.1, 5.82 the grizzlies game
game 8 37.3 and 0.0 that's right-- zero assists with him on the floor. mathematically undefined and really unacceptable
game 9 41.0 and 41.5, 0.98
game 10 31.2 and 15.4, 2.02
game 11 41.3 and 15.8, 2.61
game 12 38.4 and 20.0, 1.92
game 13 33.9 and 5.0, 6.78
game 14 36.9 and 0.0, that's right-- zero assists again with him on the floor
game 15 34.9 and 26.3, 1.33
game 16 42.1 and 9.8, 4.30
game 17 29.5 and 8.7, 3.39
game 18 35.4 and 5.0, 7.08
game 19 35.1 and 16.7, 2.10
game 20 39.5 and 0.0, that makes 3 games in the first 20 that he was on the floor the entire game and no assists were made

3.15 is the ratio of usage to assists his first 20 games. that is way too high. a successful team player at his position will have a ratio closer to 2 or even lower.

it's an illusion that he is doing more iso now. that he and the team are less successful simply highlights the glaring problem that has always existed but was perhaps masked-- perhaps i say-- by his 3 point success. people were ragging on me for my critique of heat check threes and rushed shots and bad shots by him early on, because we were winning.

it's not that you win but how you win.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Your right. I think as injuries happened and guys started missing their shots (Kidd and Brewer) the offense sputtered and he fell into some bad habits.

Yes, here we go, revisiting the classic "why don't Melo pass to Fields and TD more?" line of reasoning. Very easy and common sense to move the ball when you've got folks shooting 50% from three. Doesn't make much sense when folks are shooting 20%.

But no, it doesn't matter, we'd rather lose games the right way than conscience our Resident Evil One trying to put everything on his back and cram the ball through the hole. Or go to the line 20 times a game.
