Unfortunately he is only shooting 36 per cent from the field. 36 per cent is Toney Douglas territory.

That's not going to last. Once Lin gets respect from the refs then his FG% will go up.

Hold UP. Since when does referee treatment reflect in a players shooting percentage?

If that were the case Malik Rose would be a better shooter than Jerry West.

Throwing up wild layups and bricking open jump shots has nothing to do with referee respect, I think he's shooting will improve a bit if he plays under control and starts hitting his jump shot.
No layups!

When Lin gets respect from refs then the missed shots due to getting clobbered will no longer affect his FG%. Hence, his FG% will go up. He needs to work on his 3 pt shooting definitely but getting foul calls will help.

if he is getting calls those misses will not be counted as shot attempts.. for instance. I saw 3 times lin was clearly fouled.. no call... so instead of 2-9, his line would have read more like 2-6, which of course is a higher percentage..... Lin is going to have to make more shots of course, but you see how this works....right?

The Rockets Bleacher Report site has an interesting artilce on Lin. I would cut and paste it but the author posted a lot of videos to back up his analysis. Link:

Bleacherreport is rarely credible.

The Rockets have a shallow team. I still expect them to win at most 35 games.

Yeah they'll win when Harden goes off and lose if Harden is contained.

I like the idea of building around Harden and think they're in good shape. Their problem is that right now they only have 2 or maybe 3 players who should be in the starting lineup on an NBA team.

Agreed. Their going to be in rebuild mode for a while but if they're smart the can put together a good team.

Harden is going to have to adjust and play to convert instead of looking for calls. Maybe in time the refs will give him the same respect as other stars, he's not quite there yet. Lin is going to have to work on his shooting, handles, and conditioning all fixable. I expect him to show improvement throughout the year.

I didn't have any problems with Lin's handle. The 2 TOs he committed last night were due to him getting banged around and no call. BUT...he really needs to work on his 3 PT Shot. It was horrible. There was one attempt, where I think he got hit in the elbow, but the ball was 2 feet to the left. You know who Houston needs? Fishlips. Great screener.

Lin's defense last night was very good. The 6 steals were awesome. He played the passing lanes great. He was able to tie up Lawson in one occasion and shut down Gallo on a switch.

Lin's rebounding is also very very good. Dude just has a nose for the ball.

The stats/box scores in last nights game were totally misleading on both sides of the ball.

where did the stats mislead? houston shot 36% how is that misleading? they didn't shoot well, no one disputes that. The nuggets shot 45%, that wasn't misleading, they were making shots at one point and had a 15 point lead in the 3rd qtr... the game was a little sloppy which kept it close for the rockets, there were more turnovers than we like to see, but I think it is overstated a bit on how awful the game was... it was competitive and wasn't decided until the last minute. teams played hard and made plays down the end to decide the game...

The game wasn't good no matter what you guys say, not from an execution standpoint. If you're looking at final score an henpecking a few individual stat columns sure. Of course the liking of teams and/or players may influence perception. I like both teams especially factoring their flexibility and youth going forward but it was very ugly to watch. 20 turnovers pretty much a piece from both teams namely from their primary players. While Lin had 6stls.... Lawson also shot 9-20 which is pretty much 50% and even his stat line is a little misleading, so it wasn't like Lin was stopping him from doing what he wanted to do. Manimal had a 16/16 game and after watching it, because of how poorly it was played... I wouldn't have walked away thinking he did. Asik didn't have a bad stat line either. There were other things contributing to it being hard to watch such as refs not being consistent with calling the game. The Rockets shot 37% overall and 24% from 3....they had 18 turnovers this means you witnessed a lot of wasted possessions and bad shooting throughout.

But if you guys saw a game competitively played game and enjoyed watching it, I can respect this. I anticipated and my expectations were a lot higher.

with two young teams like that, I sometimes anticipate games like this, what you want to see is less of these games as the year goes on. Even with all of the turnovers, they competed and played hard and some players had a decent game... the game still was decided in the last minutes and provided a level of excitement.... could they have played better? sure, but I didn't think it was awful.. just not very well played....
