LOL blaming Woodson? Shumpert got plenty of burn.

Lin turned the ball over alot.

Dudes used to D ride Collison because he put up stats while Chris Paul was out and hes been traded twice already.

What does that mean? The Rockets are paying Lin only $8 mil in year 3 but the Knicks would have to offer $15 mil in order to match? I don't understand.

We covered this before. The team that offers the deal can apparently avergae the total contract out over the duration of te contract. The team with the bird rights has to follow the league maximum rules. Makes no sense but here it is.

This is the most bizarre story. Seriously.

I don't love the fact that the Lin contract changed but this is silly- they still have to match it.

He could have showed the Houston offer to NY WITHOUT signing it. No one put a gun to Lin's head to sign that deal. He chose to sign it knowing the Knicks possibly wouldn't match.

It's that simple.

Are you dense, bro? The Knicks wanted him to sign an offer sheet to test his market value. If anything, the Knicks weren't aggressive in wanting him back. They went after Nash, Kidd and Felton instead of engaging him.

This is a guy who wanted Isiah to stay and us to get Gilbert Arenas.

For the millionth time I wanted Arenas bad contract ALONG WITH McGee and their pick.

I will continue to hold out hope that we sign Felton and Lin. Not sure what PT either would get in that scenario. But we do need another guard.

The way these contracts work is that if Houston makes Lin a 3-year, $24M offer the cap hit for them would be $8M/year. If we match that offer our cap hit would be around $5M for the first two years and then $14M in the final year. Basically, if we're over the cap and match an offer sheet we're only ever allowed to pay around $5M/year for the first two years and would pay the bulk of the contract in the 3rd and 4th years.

Using Fields as another example, he got $20M over 3 years from Toronto. Toronto's cap hit would be just under $7M/year but ours would be $5M for the first 2 years and $10M in the 3rd year. The big jump in the back-end of these contracts are why they're called "poison pills".

Yeah, I'm going to hold out some hope here too, although I don't know what Dolan would be thinking signing 3 PGs who all had starters' minutes last year.

Dolan? Thinking???? Now there's an oxymoron if there ever was one. But since Dolan's involved - may be just plain Moron works as well.

i don't think is about money. it's about Lin going back to the Rockets to try to construct a deal the knicks wouldn't match.

at some point you have to ask - does this guy want to be here? and is that the best player to have on board in a season you're supposed to be all in.

we already know there's tension between melo and lin. and we know woodson backs melo...

STILL. that said... i think letting Lin go would be a HUGE mistake. bad move.

felton is a good guy, but he's not even as good as lin was after MDA was fired...

This I believe

I'm not a big Lin fan but I find it strange that he has never said that he wants to remain a Knick or that he hopes the Knicks match the offer so he can remain in NY.

I believe this kid is NOT about team winning and just trying to make a name for himself. While in NY, he was always be mentioned behind Melo and Amare. In Houston, he instantly becomes the man.

Felton, Kidd and Lin will all share minutes at the 2 until Shump is back. Not the worst thing in the world to have as many PGs as we do who can play minutes at the 2.

I think you guys are missing the real issue. It is not about Lin getting an offer. It is about Lin and Houston revising the orginal offer MY was going to match. Also, there are rumors about keeping both players and moving Kidd to the two.
