We have one in JR. Even in a down year he posted good numbers and has been a great spot up shooter but you more is better. The down side to Morrow is D.

Mayo has no chance of ending up here. he wasnt offered a qualifying offer so he cant be a sign and trade. He said he wouldnt take the 5 mil mle and we might not have that anyway

apparently the t'wolves just got Brandon Roy? and maybe Nic Batum?!?!?!?!!?

Batum is RFA, right? if the t'wolves got Batum for real they might be my favorite non-knicks team to watch next year.

Rubio
Roy
Batum
KLove
Pekovic
and a bunch of talented young guys off the bench

Portland is supposedly willing to match T'wolves offers but Batum and agent are making it known that he'd rather be in Minn.

Never thought the day would come when I'd ever hear those words from an agent.

Twolves are giving $45mil over 4 yrs to Batum, and an even more ridiculous $10 mil over 2 years for knee cartilage-free Brandon Roy Why would someone give that much to a previously retired Roy with a degenerative knee condition?!

I also wonder what Cuban is up to- he didn't even go to the Deron Williams meeting and seems to be making no effort to do anything.

No way Rockets GM Morey survives this offseason disaster- all he is capable of is aquiring draft picks, selecting pretty good players, which he then fails to trade for a big time player, and ends up losing them for pretty much nothing.

If the Batum deal goes down I think it might be a nice time to try and Swoop in and steal Derrick Williams away. That is probably not possible though.

Why should one max deal be so much higher then another max deal. I dont get why the NBA okays these huge escalators when the salary cap isnt going to move

The way it works is when a players signs a new contract they can get raises based on the last year of their last contract. If they resign with the same team it would be a 7.5% raise and if they sign with another team it would be a 4.5% raise. Also, the maximum salaries were added in after the 98-99 lockout and, I believe, Kobe's first contract after his rookie year came before that so his contract is worth a lot more because he was grandfathered in. The same thing happened with Kevin Garnett as well.

Thanks for clearing that up. Always find the salary cap confusing. Is the raise for resigning up to 7.5% at team's discretion or is that number mandatory?

It's at the team's discretion.

No way do they make Williams available. He's a promising player for them and one of the reasons Beasley was released...

philly doing some things this morning.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA

The 76ers have decided to use the amnesty clause on Elton Brand and the $18M left on final year of his deal, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick

Nick Young agrees to sign with Philly for one year deal worth $6 million, per his agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Knicks should try to bring in the Peekskill kid if they can.

I'm hoping he clears waivers too.

They were considering including Williams in a sign and trade for Batum but they didn't think Portland would go for it.

Yeah, just came in here to post that.

Would he take the $3M MLE, assuming we S&T Kidd?

He'd be a perfect scorer off the bench in the Jason Terry mold. We're following the Mavs blueprint kinda with Kidd, Tyson and Melo in the Dirk role... would make sense to have a spark plug scorer off the bench.

I think he will get a lot more than what the Knicks can offer. Surprised Philly isn't bringing him back

But Brand only has one year left on his contract, his salary wouldn't factor into the supertax unless they resigned him.
