Hopefully he will look more attractive to Orlando. Than we can build a good defensive team around a true max player. We can bring in Phil and run the triangle. Trade Melo for Deron Williams and Make the playoff's and hope to be in the finals in 2013 if we make the right moves.

Yah, but he still seems light years away from the last year Amare. I wonder what is up with that guy?? And the rest of the Knicks as well of course.

17 points in the 4th quarter just blows my mind, when you look at the "talent" we have.

yep, that sounds like a great coach all right.

IGNORANCE! Where did the offense rank last year with a decent PG? Yes it was hard, but Felton did learn it. If he had another season here to actually MASTER it, who knows how good he could've been. Ask Nash if he thinks it's a great offense or not. He was screaming for them to bring it back when they went away from it.

Majority of the SSOL he used in Phoenix relies on 4 shooters on the court, with at least 2 players that can penetrate.

one player capable of posting and good spacing after that.

With Tyson at the 5 and Amare at the 4, its not going to work.

I said Lin and Iman should be starting, and we should have always have 2 players that can penetrate at all times.
He continues to play players that can facilitate or penetrate.

Even when Baron Davis comes back, we need 2 people that are capable of penetrating.
TD and Bibby are spot up shooters, they are not going to get good looking shots till we get players that can penetrate and post up.

Melo cannot post up with Tyson and Amare down there, especially when he has to help the TD and Bibby with the PG duties....

well, they don't have a point guard to master the system right now. what they have is one of the most dominant power forwards in the league, one of the most dominant small forwards in the league, one of the best centers in the league and a coach stubbornly hoping landry fields, toney douglas, iman shumpert, mike bibby and bill walker can shoot 3s at 45%. his offense is nothing without spacing. and that spacing is created by the three point shot and penetration. knicks have neither of those things. yet our brilliant PhD keeps trying to force it. you what that sounds like to me?

IGNORANCE.

also, you know what you sound like, trying to defend something so clearly wrong for the roster this team has? i'll let you figure it out.

also, nixluva, i thought according to you iman shumpert grasped the wonderful golden magic necessary to run the point in MDA's offense. is this a failure of shumpert? is it all his fault? is he no longer your ROY? is he waiting to get more national coverage on TV to "grasp the offense" or even possibly to "master it"??? please tell me. because to me it looks like d'antoni is a stubborn idiot trying to get shumpert to be something he's not. but maybe i'm just being ignant again.

You're making it worse for yourself with every post. The spacing and timing of the offense is off due to the poor floor generalship of our PG's. It's putting everything out of position and making it easier for the defense to stop what we're doing. I wish I was home so that I could do a literal breakdown of just how that works, or IS NOT WORKING, right now. The reason that STAT was so efficient last year as well as the entire team is due to proper spacing, timing and execution. I can prove my point statistically and by showing the plays that MDA runs in diagrams. Can't do it now but if this line of argument persists I will do it at a later date.

Do you think this team would be struggling as bad with Felton or even Billups right now? NO! It's that important to have even just a decent level of floor leadership on any team in any offense. We have substandard PG play this year. Only for brief moments does the team do the right thing and then they are easily disrupted by any good defensive play. That is not the way it's supposed to be.

Nash's production dipped under Porter and his offense and the ENTIRE TEAM wanted to get back to the MDA offense, which is why they promoted Gentry. COME ON GUYS! This is common knowledge. Don't try to change history. I'm gonna have to make a thread with every single proof of my points just to dispel all this NONSENSE!

yes, i think this team would be struggling as badly with felton and billups. because d'antoni would still be the coach running plays which result in three point shots for guys who can't shoot threes. because d'antoni would still stubbornly stick with lineups that are literally taking a sh!t on the floor.

though i really can't wait for your literal breakdown of tonight's game. i'll hold my breath starting now. please hurry.

The CAvs announcers kept saying, "Thats their offense". I guess they are ignorant.

Yes they are. They're only saying what the cliche argument is about MDA's offense. The bad 3's are a result of bad possessions where they're left with taking bad shots. It's the lazy way out of a bad set. When they run the offense properly the 3 is the LAST option of any given set, but there are GOOD 3's. The thing is that NONE of the plays are designed for the 3 to be the primary shot taken. Over a 100 plays with multiple variations and all are designed to get a high % shot.

We just can't hit crap right now. There were a lot of shots that weren't bad but just didn't fall. TD had a wide open 3 towards the end of the 4th and bricked.

He hasn't hit that shot all season. After awhile as a coach you tell the guy okay step in or pass it to your "STARS" and get them easier shots.

Sometimes you are open for a reason. Jefferies is left open all day. does that mean he should hoist up shots every time he's open. Same with Shump. You don't think other teams watch tape and go. Okay TD, Shump can't shoot a lick this season..leave them open. Same thing with Rondo in previous seasons but guess what he won't shoot it. Instead he will press the defense and make them pay for giving him a lane. That's called coaching. Playing to your strengths and not accepting the opposing team forcing u to a result they want. You don't think the other teams love us TD, Shump & Fields hoisting up open 3s?

This is just ridiculous. ONLY MONTHS ago some of these same players we have now were in the #2 scoring team and #5 most efficient offense in the league, when we had Felton! It dipped a bit when we made the trade and the team ended the season at #7 in Offensive efficiency. For most of D'Antoni's career his teams have been at or near the top of the league in offense. It's the one thing that you just can't fault him for in terms of his acumen as a coach. You can ding him for D, but let's not make up crap when it comes to his offensive record. This is the ONLY Season in the last 8 years where he's been in the lower half of the league offensively.

2011-12 with TD, Shump, Bibby - #17 in scoring, #24 in Offensive Efficiency
2010-11 with Felton, TD, CB - #2 in scoring, #5 in Off. Eff.
2009-10 with Duhon, TD, Hughes - #10 in scoring, #17 in Off. Eff.
2008-09 with Duhon, Nate, Hughes - #4 in scoring, #17 in Off. Eff.
2007-08 with Nash - #3 in scoring, #2 in Off. Eff.
2006-07 with Nash - #1 in scoring, #1 in Off. Eff.
2005-06 with Nash - #1 in scoring, #2 in Off. Eff.
2004-05 with Nash - #1 in scoring, #1 in Off. Eff.
