I wasn't sold on him last year and thought we should have traded him when his value was high. Reality is he is a second round draft pick - sure he started off strong but his drop off is more in line with what you would expect from a second rounder. I do think he has talent, but I am concerned he is just a role player and this club needs a starter.

I hope he snaps out of it, but he said all he worked on this summer was his mental game and it sounds like that may not have paid off. He needs to work on his bball game.

Wrong. Toney has had many reps. He can't hack it at the point.

Bibby is our best PG currently. Baron should be gotten. Davis/Bibby at PG is would be very nice. Shump looks great. Honestly, I don't see a long future on the Knicks for TD. He doesn't do anything well enough. Shump will be a better two, defender, and is more athletic. TD can't see the floor or be a playmaker. Occasionally he gets hot from three on kickouts. That's not enough. Knicks should look to pick up Baron and trade Douglas this season for a piece that fits better with this team. In fact, they should have offered Douglas for Jamal Crawford, if it would have made that deal happen.

My draft pick! Was she at the game or something doing the Dougie again?

Missed the game, but a UK game thread is a pretty funny substitute. I'm I to understand, R. Balkman is a Puerto Rican and went jamón today? Crazy.

I was at that preseason game when Chris Duhon when for 21. Just saying.

yeah, there's a saying that in the NBA you have to something great or everything well to be a starter in the league. i don't think toney does any one thing great and he certainly has holes in his game.

again, i like the guy and i feel almost guilty saying i don't think he should be the PG.

Shumpert looks VERY athletic. He is definitely big enough to play SG for us.

Toney D is already frustrating me. Bring the ball up the court and passing it does not make someone a PG. Toney D has zero play making ability and it's pretty sad.

I have to disagree. I don't really judge players based on where they were picked. Fields played better than 28 other first round draft picks last year and I have no reason to write him off. He is not a shooting guard, he has a better game close to the basket than from outside the arc. He can be effective off the ball as well as being a decent defender. I would definitely look for him to improve once he gets some confidence in the flow of things. I think playing next to Melo is making him uncomfortable.

Man, I wish I saw more than the recap. So was Fields really that invisible? I'm mean he's only got 3 less than STAT, and my friend said Fields looked good to him. Shum & Fields is a big backcourt, I can definitely see certain teams where that would be an advantage over TD or Bibby.

Just watched the game...

Melo and Stat looked OK if not a little rusty which is understandable. Wish they would play more of a two man game at times.

Melo had some nice passes to Balkman.

Balkman looks like he is playing smarter. He's always been active but not unlike a chicken with its head cut off. He's seeing the floor better now and doing a better job of anticipating on both offense and defense.

I forgot they picked Harrelson, impressive start on both offense and defense, could see his minutes increase if he keeps playing like this.

I like Shumpert, still wish they had picked Norris Cole (especially since Miami got him) but I hope I'm proven wrong. I like how on offense he did a good job of recovering when a play broke down or he missed a shot, he went right to plan B, some vets have trouble doing that. Shumpert is going to be a big help on defense as well, that's pretty clear.

Fields, the good is that he looks like he has a quicker release on his jumper from inside the arc but he still has that atrocious 3 point set shot. I wished he had worked on it during the summer. I wish he would jump higher and use the same release he does from inside the arc. Fields still has trouble creating his own shot. Not encouraging at all.

I wish they would feed Chandler in the post more often to keep the interior D more honest. I'm pretty sure Jeffries of all people got fed in the post more than Chandler did. Yikes!

Bibby looked much more spry than I thought he would but its early in the season. I hope they give him more minutes if he can stay healthy and maintain the same energy level. He looks like our best distributor right now.

TD looks like he has a better dribble, maybe his improved shoulder has something to do with that. Don't really see an improvement as far as PG skills are concerned but he didn't play poorly, still looks like a backup PG though. A decent one.

Overall goods things to build on.

One thing I'll say though is if they keep teams under 90 points most games their offensive inefficiencies can be covered. I recall one play where James spun into the lane and met Tyson Chandler with both arms raised which caused a walk. Last season that was a layup with no resistance.

one thing: this nets team is horrible. holding them under 90 should be a requirement for every team in the league.

the offense has to hum, no matter what team you are. dallas and miami were amazing defensive clubs last year. their offense was also highly efficient. you need both.

toney will lose us games sooner or later if he keeps starting. probably sooner. i like the kid, it just shouldn't be his role.

I might be wrong but I didn't think Miami was an efficient offensive team last year.

I guess my lasting memories of playoff offensive futility clouded my memory. Great to see Knicks were 5th though. With better Defense that's a good formula then.

Also Knicks were giving up major points to even the horrible teams last year so I still chalk this up as a good defensive effort.

If it wasnt for the atrocious rebounding we would be first on that list.

Jorts and Shumpert did their thing.

Douglas sucked, as usual. Bibby outplayed him.

Kudos to Balkman.

This used to be p2p, I think- they have downloads of games afterwards for free, but I've just checked and you have to pay for the live streams though.

does anyone know if the game will be on the online league pass? it's not listed on there, but it is advertised on the main website?

Thanks. That is a great link. My son had his birthday party during the game and I was only able to catch about 5 minutes of it. Do you know if you can get a live stream if you pay? I have time warner and I maybe without msg for awhile.
