Yes, yes we should. Maybe even Lee as well.

But, the question is, what would we get back? Guys on 2010s and a few picks? If so, beautiful. If guys on 2011s, then, well, whoops - doesn't work.

I still laugh at people who say the Kings-Knicks deal wasn't a real 'rumor'.

It indeed was. The NBA granted the Kings and Knicks an extension until 3:15PM that afternoon to see if they could agree to a trade. They could not. This is factual information.

The principle parts were Jeffries+Nate for Kenny Thomas. Thoughts were more was involved and Walsh declined. I would speculate that Petrie, like any other GM that season, demanded a 1st rounder from us for the cap relief we sought.

But, well, now we're at TODAY. Can't do anything about yesterday anymore.

well this isn't hindsight reasoning cuz i was railing about this all last year before the trade deadline if u remember... people thought i was nuts to wanna trade Nate & Lee last year & they all trusted in Donnie's judgement to know what he was doing... we had some cats calling Nate the team's MVP last season for God's sakes! we passed up on dumping Fishlips & getting something we could actually USE in exchange for Nate, which was capspace in 2010, & Donnie declined on both & now this is the result... we just gave up a #8 lottery selection, swap rights for another only protected to 1 in 2011 & our pick outright in 2012 only protected to 5 (pretty much means they get the pick outright regardless)... i warned that passing up the opportunity to get back assets for Nate & Lee would come back & bite us in the ass & i think it has personally... i said all along if we end up with getting back nothing in return for Nate & Lee then it was a huge FAIL on Donnie's part & if Bill Walker & Giddens end up being renounced this offseason to clear their cap holds & D Lee is allowed to walk, then that's exactly what we ended up with.

Well, I was 50/50 on having to trade Lee/Nate last year. As time went on it was more and more evident we had to.

Maybe we got more assets in return if we did it last year. Yet, to be honest, we did try. Nobody wanted Jeffries with Nate unless we gave up more. Donnie told all teams if you want Lee you take Curry.

And, that was right of him to do.

I think either way - as it's viewed today we "caved" to dump Jeffries with a high premium. Yet, I think given the history of last year, we had to also cave in with a high premium to make the same general deals last year.

For, if we didn't have to, the deals would have been done.

As to Lee I think it's quite possible he walks for nothing. There's a lower chance we S&T him and a low chance we retain him if we "strike out" in 2010.

50% walk. 30% retain. 20% S&T.

But, hey, in the end if we score Bosh and LeBron, what you ask yourself is: "Would I trade Hill, Lee, A 2012 pick, Nate, and the other garbage I hated on our roster - for Lebron and Bosh?"

I think the answer is: HELL F'IN YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what the risk is all about.

The alternative? Continue to stink with mediocre players and win 35 games a year and pick 8th year after year and have no franchise player.

I'll.....take the risk Donnie is taking.

ACQUIRED: John Wallace

RELINQUISHED: first round pick (lottery protected) (2000 #18-Quentin Richardson), second round pick (top 50 protected through 2012) (2007 #52-Taurean Green) 3-team trade with Blazers, Knicks

link to the page its on this page

Dude put a top 50 protection on a 2nd round pick for 15 YEARS!!!!! I bet it's STILL not consummated!!!!

I know about it that's why I pointed out the Top 50 protected. Funny too, that we also fail to mention that this year pick was lottery protected but the protection expires after 5 years. Truth was that the Knicks were trying to make the playoffs last season to give the pick to the Jazz. So it is kind of a fail on both regimes part. So instead of giving up the pick last year and drafting Hill. The Knicks could actually have their own pick this year in a much better draft. So trading Hill was a double hit on Walsh for not giving up the pick last year. Not too many guys will get on Walsh about it though. Also, on a side note, the reason why the Jazz have the pick is that one Mike D'Antoni traded it away from the Suns. So instead of the Suns getting that pick, the Jazz now have it. Funny how this stuff works.

I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni

Cos, if we end up with Lebron & Bosh or Wade this summer, all is obviously forgiven & Donnie will forever be remembered for that legacy... we'll see what happens this summer, but i'm not feeling overly confident & the assets we gave up makes it a do or die type situation in my view... July 1st is gonna be either Doom's Day or the Day of Rebirth for the Knicks' franchise.

i don't get real upset over moves unless we take bad risks in doing so... signing Turd to a full MLE was a bad risk... trading for McDyess was a bad risk... hopefully this T-Mac trade doesn't flop the way those moves did for all our sakes.

Personally I can't get upset over moves or strikeouts that have yet to occur.

We're used to Layden and Isiah making big splashes and then watching those splashes sink to the bottom of the sea.

This is a bit different. Our splashes will be the real deal. If we don't make a big splash we're not cap strapped to hell. We still have our flexibility to look elsewhere.

So it'd be a disappointment but not the end of the next five years of the franchise!

Follow me on that one?

But, well, I still feel that is a topic for the summer.

For anything we say today is just speculation.

And with that, I'm outta here.

'til tomorrow nights' game. Hoping our new players...play. They may not. Tmac wants to. So I guess that's something. Still no word on physicals being done on any side of this 3-way trade though.

Jeffries+Hill+First Rounder for T-Mac/S-rod is better than Jeffries+Nate+First Rounder for Kenny Thomas
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

It looks like Nate will be making his debut against us on Tuesday. He'll be looking to drop 50 on us, obviously.

just wanted to man up & say my opinion has changed on the Nate trade... i like what i see out of Bill Walker & looks like he'll at least amount to what i'd like to get out of a late 1st round pick this summer, which is pretty much all i ever expected to get in return for Nate in a trade.

so good job Donnie... let's hope i can say the same about the T-Mac trade come July.
