Why all the complaints about Nate's histrionics? Starks used to showboat just as much.

why not? i can't discuss things about players' deficiencies that i notice from time to time? let me get this straight, it's fine to call guys like Jamal "Crawful" & "Losers" while they're still here & rag on Eddy Curry's fat ass, but it's not fine to call out Nate for a simple criticism about his behavior during games? i've seen you participate in the Jamal bashing on a number of occasions bro so find it curious ur gonna call me out when i make an observation about Nate... i ain't even saying anything negative about his skills or his talent here, or taking any under the belt digs at him either... i don't see what the problem is.

& i touched on the Starks comparison a while back bro... he wasn't doing the same stuff in blowout losses or wins, not to the extent Nate does, u know this... when he punched his chest after making a play it was in the course of a comeback or in the heat of a tightly contested game from what i remember... & when he acted like a knucklehead w/his headbutts & thug behavior he had Ewing or Oakman there to keep him in check... Nate doesn't have that, he's free to act whatever way he wants, it's encouraged by his teammates, cuz they know that's just how he is... that's what i've been saying all this time, i dunno if he'll ever really grow out of it & i don't wanna see him getting caught up in bad situations w/his showboating style, cuz u know it's bound to happen sooner or later... he's already gotten into a number of bad situations w/his teammates, other players & refs for his behavior in the past... i think it's a fair point to be discussed.

Why is it when someone disagrees with you that you interpret it as them saying you can't express your opinion? You do this all the time. Nobody is telling you not to feel the way you feel, we're just disagreeing with you. Why the need to call people hypocrites? I never called you out. I didn't even quote you. Your last post is five posts above mine. I was just making a general comment.

i never called u a hypocrite... i don't understand why it's ok to criticize some but not others... & u did call me out, cuz i'm the only one here really talking about Nate's histrionics... how else u want me to interpret ur comment?

K dude. Didn't know it was you against everyone in this thread. I thought for sure you weren't alone. I didn't read the whole thread to make sure, I just tossed in my observation. Not what I would consider a "call out" but I guess I understand your defensiveness.

Who said it's not OK to criticize Nate? All I said was that I don't think his showboating is a problem and I compared him to John Starks who is an all-time favorite Knick, who had his fair share of wildness, who used to ignite the garden with his unbridled energy the same way Nate does. Criticize Nate all you want. If you criticize him for his showboating, then I disagree.

I don't get what people's criticisms of Craw or Curry have to do with Nate. Bringing that up implies that there is some sort of double standard when it comes to criticisms. As if I feel it's OK to criticize those two but not Robinson. I don't think that's the case. All I think is that if you criticize him for his showboating, I disagree.

People criticized Crawford and Curry for their games and even conditioning. Crawford was always too skinny and Curry was always fat. Crawford for being inconsistent and not being a great defender amongst that chucking thing, and Curry for not doing anything besides score in the post.

I have a couple of criticisms for Nates game believe it or not. I think he loses focus when people set screens on him. He does get caught in the moment a little too much at times. However, I see him going balls out all the way, 100% of the time, quite unlike those other two, so while I don't approve of some of his showboating (Trust me, I don't) I can be a little more lenient, based on how hard he's playing and how well he is playing.

Like I said, Nate is doing whatever he can. He should be recieving a heck of a lot less criticism than a certain Al Harrington, to say the least.

Hi TMS. You and I have expressed our opinions on this subject enuff already but as far as Nate goes, I think it's a part of what makes him so good. Maybe I'm reaching here but I am willing to bet one of the reasons he acts as if every little thing he does is a big deal is because everywhere he goes, there is someone who tells him he can't do what he is currently doing. Think about that for a while. How many of us here have said "Nate is too small"? I look at the stat lines and if you didn't tell me it was a 5'7" guy, I would've believed it was Kobe if you told me. The fact that he is in the league playing at the level in which he is, sounds like a reason to celebrate to me.

Nate is playing lights out, gives his all the entire game, plays every aspect of the game(rebounding, shooting, blocking shots, point guard, two guard, defense, providing energy etc...) regardless of his height and doesn't complain a bit so excuse him if he gets a little giddy about it. In fact, Excuse the Garden for getting giddy with him!!

We have a lot of other players in this league who get paid a whole lot more money than Nate but do a whole lot less than the little guy with a whole lot more to work with. Once again, excuse him if he gets a little giddy about his job and how he expresses himself while playing. He seems to be one of 3 guys who look like they really enjoy what they do with the other two being Gallinari and David Lee and guess what? That love translates to the crowd and fans alike. When Nate is having fun and doing well, I am right there with him excited and amazed. New Yorkers have one of the players that we needed finally and although he didn't come the way we envisioned and he is a little rough around the edges the fact is, we love him. Warts and all! Now if his celebrating comes back to hurt us, I will be the first in line to admit it. If not, and he keeps producing, who cares??

Oh I forgot..... You!

Oh I forgot..... You!

i think u're severely overrating my criticisms here... it's a concern of mine, nothing more... i have had nothing but praise for Nate's level of effort, his work ethic & his passion during games since he came to the Knicks... u can feel free to look up my posts on him in the past where & on this thread even where i've defended him even while he was going through his struggles earlier this season & over the past few years he's been on this team... i don't think u'll find much negativity of mine when it comes to him... although i have touched on the subject that i do feel his undersized stature will limit him as a true go to type player in the past, his past few games he's been doing a good job of alleviating that concern... i still would like to see a longer sample of him playing at this level before fully pronouncing the guy as a guy we must hold onto at all costs... i don't think anyone on this team is untouchable at the cost of losing out on even a slim opportunity at getting a topnotch star player to build around... i've remained consistent w/that line of thinking for a long time now... i'm not one to sway my opinions w/the wind like some others on this forum after each good & bad game that a player will have, trust me on that.

i am fully aware that every player has their warts... all i'm doing is raising some concerns over Nate's... it's pretty simple... u seem to be casting me as a hater on this issue but in actuality he's 1 of my favorite players on this team... that doesn't mean i should just gloss over every mistake he makes... i think there's always room for improvement i don't care who u are... there's nothing i would like to see more than for Nate to become a real star player for this franchise... we drafted this kid & developed him so that's natural for others to feel that way too... i don't knock people for wanting to hold onto this guy... i simply have a more longrange focus in mind & some doubts whether Nate will be a part of that longrange plan... we'll see what happens but i have the feeling that Donnie is not closed off to the idea of trading him if he feels he can improve the roster in 2010, & the same holds true for any other player i like on this team.

Nate's getting enough love of late w/o me needing to voice more, i'm just playing Devil's advocate is all... Al Harrington isn't a guy i feel is in our longrange plans at all so i don't really invest much concern over him... i always thought he was better than many people thought he was but there are several guys on this team that i think Donnie would wanna hold onto before him anyway... Nate is a guy that i enjoy watching for the most part but sometimes he makes it hard w/some of his shenanigans & sometimes u wanna give the little rascal a hug & a pat on the back... Starks was the same way for me & he was my favorite player of alltime... it's too bad we don't have an Oakman around who could keep Nate in check at times... i don't think u can control Nate, he's just an uncaged beast when he's on the floor... it's weird cuz off the floor he seems like such a calm, respectful, down to earth kinda guy (not that i've ever met him).

I got his autograph at a game once, and for the two seconds I talked to him, he seemed polite yet shy, so I felt like we really boned in those two seconds. I know him quite well, indeed.

In all seriousness, I do understand why you get frustrated with him at times, b/c he does act weird. However, for me, personally, I don't think it really interferes with the fact that he's out to win and he sincerely wants to bring a championship to NY one bright and shiny day. When he thinks that will be, I have no clue, but I can tell he wants nothing more than to finish his career in NY. He seems like a good kid who busts his ars and sometimes gets overexcited. I'll deal with that.

TMS, you are no longer allowed to say Allanfan'd b/c of that. You're probably more likely to get nyk4everized.
