I don't understand why you are complaning about this thread when you will not be using the feature? How will it affect you in any way?

It certainly affects me. It dumbs down posting and creates confusion.

Person C: "Is Person A blocking me?" "well I'm going to block person A and while I'm at I'll block person B because he shares the same viewpoint as person A."
Persons A + B: "well if person C is blocking me, I'm going to block him to.. see how he likes them apples! and while I'm at it I'll block persons D, E, F, G becuase they all share the same viewpoint as Person C."

It's just stupid and it creates drama and confusion.

Its not true at all. I am part of forums (specifically, small sports forums) that have ignore features and there is rarely any problems. If what you are saying was true, forums would not have an ignore feature. It works!

Can we realistically break down the problem.

We've got people wanting an ignore feature for one, maybe two posters?

nyk4ever, Bippity10: You guys are missing the point. Those that want to use it will use it, those that dont want to, wont. What exactly is your beef with this when it will not affect you in any way. You make it sound like all hell will break lose. I gotta say this; the people that are against the feature are complaining more than the one's that actually want it. We are just making a feature request but you guys are actually being drama queens.

I demand to know who. That goes for everyone else as well.

Let's get this out in the open, it's the only way to solve the "problem".

All I want to do filter out posts for me. I have seen this implemented everywhere. This is not a new concept but I cannot believe the resistance to it. It almost seems like people are afraid their posts wont be read.

But can't you do that on your own? Especially if it's just a single poster?

Won't you see that person's posts if they get quoted by someone you aren't ignoring? What about problems with continuity and context that will surely happen when people are responding to subject matter that they aren't completely informed about? If the ignore button leads to confusion on any level, it affects us all and takes away from the conversation on this board.

Plus I don't know how many boards have such a distinct divide between one group and another, like this one does. If I came on here and people with a different viewpoints other than my own were filtering me, it would be like talking to myself, since I'd only be talking to people who agreed with me, which is basically as good as talking to yourself. I can talk to myself about the Knicks all day if I wanted and I would agree with everything I said. Sure, I'd be a psycho for doing that, but then what would be the point of coming onto the forum if I'm going to just talk to people that have the same viewpoint as me?

That divide will likely dissipate greatly once Isiah is escorted out by security.

You can not have an ignore button if you do that then MArbury won't read anyones posts. Especially Islefan's post.
