According to the FAN, there are just insurance issues that have to be worked out
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

ummmm . . . dj . . . .

we're getting just a *little* concerned with how obsessed you've become with Zeke since meeting him and checking how you "measured up."

hahaha - classic.

zeke has a LONG WAY to go...i've just accepted the way he's trying to build it and hope it works out.

if the final deal is kurt for Q and a #1, then this is BY FAR, isiah's best deal to date. there's more moves that need to be made, but this deal, isolated, is a good one. i mean, there's always what ifs - like what if we waited and someone like green, granger, or wright dropped to us in the draft? BUT it's obvious that isiah is drafting frye hence why he made this deal. and i also think that boozer deal is in the works also.

B.S. Briggs, you know exactly what I mean. I don't want to hear the argument of drafting BPA....That is an insane way to go through with this draft. This league is hungry for success, if it was true that teams have to draft BPA, than why is it that teams like Portland and others with much earlier picks than us are looking to sell their picks?

That logic is B.S in my opinion. MJ was not known as a great player during his college days. If he was, than I am very sure that he would have been selected by Portland...If he had the publicities that Lebron had, he would have definitely been picked #1. There is no guaranty that a player will do well once selected. Take your chance and if it doesn't work out, thank God for free agency.

BPA is insane? Failure to follow it yielded Weis over Artest.

If it had to come down to Graham, Frye, Bynum as the best players avaliable, who would you pick? I highly doubt Granger slips at 8...

the way i look at the trade is this. anyone who thought the marbury-crawford-houston guard combo was a good idea should be thrilled. Q is younger and more athletic than H2O and would do a better job sliding over to the SF. not as good at creating his own shot, but makes up for it with his post up ability, and will be at least as good spotting up outside. how many people wished allan would do something beside score? Q rebounds too. KT is worth that. and it means we won't be trading him for szczerbiak.

waiting for that announcement...

Does that mean Q didn't fail his physical and the trade will go through soon? That would be great! I want Q and that draft pick!

Okay, here is the latest from the times. Looks like the Knicks will get the conditional first rounder.

Interesting to note, Kurt first heard about the trade from RealGM.com, just like us!

Just another article from the Record. Also reports that the Knicks will get the first.

If we indeed get that first round draft pick in the process, I have a feeling it has more to do qith Larry Brown than with a future player selection. Hmmm...

Both Jordan and Bowie were known as good players in college, but I think Jordan had the better career. He averaged 17.7 points to Bowie's 13.4. Bowie already had a nasty injury history. I think Portland had Drexler and Paxson, so in drafting Bowie over Jordan they were going for position.

The Deal Is Done: Richardson Traded For Thomas
24th June, 2005 - 2:34 am
NY Post - As first reported by RealGm.com, the Knicks and Suns agreed to their second trade in 17 months with Kurt Thomas being shipped to Phoenix for 6-6 swingman Quentin Richardson and a protected, future first-round pick.

The first-round pick can be used by the Knicks at the earliest in 2007 but is protected beyond the lottery. The delay in announcing the deal involved a minor insurance issue regarding a prior Richardson back injury that's not likely to kill the deal.

For months, Isiah Thomas has said he's planning as if Allan Houston is not on the team next season. A new collective bargaining agreement clause paves the way for the potential waiving of the arthritic-kneed Houston. The Knicks would be liable for the two years and $40 million left on his contract but would not have to pay additional dollar-for-dollar luxury tax on the salary (another $40M). The Knicks can't approach Houston with the idea until mid-July when the CBA is signed. If Houston goes, only Michael Sweetney remains pre-Isiah.

Richardson, who signed a five-year, $37 million deal last July, will likely start at shooting guard with Jamal Crawford going to the bench. The Knicks took on $15 million in future salary. [READ]

To those who say we completely fleeced the Suns:

As Herb Brooks would brilliantly say "Sometimes it doesn't take the best players to make the best team. Just the right ones." Believe me everyone, I know Q is a much more talented player, but realistically, Kurt Thomas is probably a better fit for that team, run and gun or not. Why? B/c if he doesn't create space for Amare, JJ and Nash and even Marion, then his defender is gonna get burned for that ever so consistent mid range J, which he can now hit in peoples faces and even shoot off the dribble. By next December, tell me that Amare and Nash aren't gonna love playing with the guy on offense. He's as fundamental as you can get with that pick and roll style that Nash will LOVE and he's a hard ars worker on the boards and on defense. Isn't this what Phoenix needs? Another body to crash the boards consistently and to play some defense? KT is healthy and in great shape, has his head screwed on. He greatly improves their halfcourt offense.

If I must say so myself, I think the Suns chances of winning a championship next year just improved EXTREMEMLY significantly. Of course instead people are gonna call me a KT lover for this, but when we see that Phoenix takes either Detroit, Indisna or Miami to game 7 of the finals next year and KT is a important part of that, I'll still be called a KT lover.

Look, he's not a superstar, but like I said, he's still a perfect fit for that team, whether they run (And he runs) or not.

Despite the article i still think IT's plan is to move TT and start Q at the SF. Hopefully we see a Thomas for Boozer type deal pretty soon.
