I agree with you re Lively and his contract. I listened to that Podcast and Matkovic seems interesting. Seems like a guy that we can trade for and, if he looks promising, sign to a long term, low cost contract. We need to find some low cost young players that can be effective

Dadiet + 2 seconds for Matkovic? We’d save nearly $1M in that deal and it probably allows us to add a 15th player to the roster like McCullar or Nickel. That frees up a 2 way slot which is a great way for us to find more young talent.

I like the idea of Matkovic but really only know his game via highlights, does seem like a good fit though.

I wonder if the trade floodgates now open with LeBron all wrapped up. So many teams with unfinished business left

If the Sixers waive Johni Broome that should be a no-brainer for the Knicks. Rebounding machine who dominated summer league. Also a CAA client fwiw. Very good 3rd center option.

I think Plumlee is probably done. Richards is so interesting because he played basketball in NY, is a Coach Cal player and is repped by CAA. All the markers for guys who the Knicks get. Why isn’t he already a Knick? There is probably a specific reason. The last one to mention is Drew Eubanks who is a reasonable center option. He’s been consistently employed as a 3rd string center and isn’t old. I think he’s a fine option.

At this point just give me Broome (if waived) or Eubanks as the third center, and bring in Jemison and Robbins to camp to compete for a 2-way spot.

Broome is not a bad option but he’s not a rim protector. He can rebound and play D but he’s a PF

All valid points. I wouldn’t be shocked if we signed Richards right before the season started or gave Plumlee a 10-day contract during the season.

Richard’s and his agent have to know he’s better off taking less money and playing this season for a prominent team that will always be on national tv then sitting out the entire season and ending up playing semi-pro overseas

If Richards signs a cheap one year contract with the Knicks, plays well getting 15-20 minutes per game probably ends up starting 20-25 games he will definitely get paid summer 2027. Ask I-Hart.

Broome was an elite shot blocker in college fwiw.

Another one bites the dust

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the 76ers have traded Johni Broome and a second-round pick to the Clippers for cash considerations.
The move keeps Philly under the first and second aprons while signing LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Broome will operate as a depth option in LA behind Brook Lopez, Isaiah Jackson and Yanic Konan Niederhauser. - Zak Hanshew

Knicks clearly had no interest since Philly even included a second rounder to dump him. Knicks must have a plan that is just taking longer to execute if they have no interest in these types of players.

I hope the floodgates open and the Knicks trade for Matkovic. If we give Dadiet + 2nd round picks, we have enough space to sign Nickel and McCullar. We still probably need another big but we can go into the season with this roster and see how Matkovic fits. We still have the ability to trade Deuce for a big in December. And we can sign some 2 way players…

There has to be some young and raw athletic Center overseas so I hope we are exploring that. Similar to when we found Mozgov in 2010.

Agreed but probably not someone the Knicks can depend on to play real minutes when either KAT or Drummond are out. In theory, the guy who would come in handy would be James Nnaji who the Knicks have the rights to. He was drafted first pick of the second round a few years ago. But he oddly couldn’t even see playing time at Baylor last year. Not sure how he managed to get drafted that high but be bad enough to not even see playing time in college. Strange case.

He had some back or disc problems after he got drafted or around that time. Don't know if that has impacted his play

I was just going to bring this guy (Moses Brown) up cause we had him in Westchester in 24-25 and let him go, and then I found this:

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/knicks-urged-reunite-familiar-face-220317074.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall

From wiki page:
On March 18, 2026, Brown signed with the Criollos de Caguas of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional.[81] On March 31, 2026, Brown made his debut against the Cangrejeros de Santurce where he had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks, winning 90-86. On April 13, 2026, he had a season high 23 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and added 3 blocks to win 105-92 against the Mets de Guaynabo.[82]

Moses Brown won the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year award; alongside MVP Travis Trice and Sixth Man of the Year Christian Lopez, they became the first trio of teammates in league history to win all three major individual awards in the same season.[83]

He’s 7’2 and has had good games in the G-league. Why aren’t we giving him a shot?

His defense is undisciplined which makes it hard to keep him on the floor in the NBA level

Knicks got a lot of looks at him in the gleague right ? Plus I’m guessing if these are they guys we are down to, they will just sign a few of them for training camp.

Rose is going to be shopping for a center next regular season and will probably hand out a bunch of 10 day contracts.
