Hope that both Canada and Team USA prevail to meet in the final!
Its been a great learning experience for guys and for the still young RJ.
Winning is a great teacher and confidence builder. Josh Hart doing his thing and JB is doing the glue thing.
Haliburton off the bench has been very key. Indy fans must be excited for the new season!

But as a Knicks fan first, I personally was most interested in the fact that he said nothing about Rokas as a Knickerbocker past/present/or future tense.

He could've said any number of things that would've given more insight into Rokas as a Knick but chose to stay silent on the topic.

And that choice was sort of interesting to me. For what it might mean if we allow our imaginations to go wild during these dog days of summer.

Could you give us your expectations about what he should say when he in fact probably doesn’t know what Rokas or the Knicks are thinking?

Brunson no doubt uses the cliched answers to at least put something forth.

OK I'll give it a shot:

Reporter: "What did you think about Rokas Jokubaitis? His rights are owned by the Knicks. Do you think he can play there?"

Brunson: "Do I think he can play in the NBA? Yeah, he can play in the NBA fur sure, and although we haven't met yet in the context of the Knicks team, I'm really excited to see what he can do for the Knicks down the line."

----

As a Knick fan this is what I would've loved to hear. Jalen selling the fact that Rokas is an NBA player couldn't hurt, whether Rokas ever comes to play for the Knicks or not, Jalen could've sold his abilities a little bit more and it would't have cost a thing to the Knicks (in terms of team chemistry) or Team USA (in terms of giving Lithuania locker room material).

Everything in moderation. Even moderation.

Wow!!!!
Caught the last 5 min of the game. They made a run but Germany prevailed.
They did not go with Hart or Brunson. JB was -19 with 3 turnovers. His Boxscore line was not bad otherwise but it's a team game.
Not blaming anyone. USA will bring the big guns out next summer for olympics to run with SOME of these guys.
Team vs Talent. Euro's just play a different game. The best team wins, not always the best talent.

We get a USA/Canada game after all! UGGGH!!!!

But........Happy for German team and its fans. Who takes the cup? Serbia or Germany???

Who cares! LOL!!!! (ugly american!)

Still a disgrace, given the gap in talent.
Not that I really give a damn about FIBA, but feel bad that Knicks players have been involved in such historically ignominious defeats.

They need a big boy like Mitchell Robinson in the middle vs these Euro teams. All the Euro teams have a couple of big boys like MRob in their team. FIBA basketball is different. You can body check people.

wonder why iHart did not play? I know he got married, but so did Jalen.

Disgrace? Last American to win MVP was 5 years ago. Giannis, Jokic and Embiid go them since.
Doncic is now up next. Wemby to soon follow?
Harden and Westbrook were last two. Egocentric me first players. Extremely talented. No disrespect. They don't have chips.
If Ewing is up there as top 3 greatest knick, then was are celebrating a person from Jamaica.
Do we take for granted when we win? I think so. I say that if we take "disgrace" when we don't.
NBA has become a melting pot due to it being a global sport.
While I rooted for team USA, I found joy in the underdog celebrating the conquest.

I get the top players did not play. Neither did Murray, Jokic, Giannis and Embiid. Perhaps if KP plays Latvia does even better? They still did really well.
Latvia, very small country!!!!

Winning the Gold next year will mean more now. I hope our guys get to play and earn the honor.

The world has been catching up, and that is a good thing. Foreign MVPs - great thing. But MVPs don't play alone. And if you compare 12-person squads, the USA still comes up on top by a margin in terms of talent. And if they fail to convert talent into results, that's a disgrace.

I wonder if there anything in the Serbian or German tactics we saw today against NA teams that can also translate to the NBA. Specifically to the Knicks who need to find a way to win while not being the most talent-laden.

I agree with your but not about "disgrace". Its a disappointment.
The take away is good shooting opens up the lanes.
I'd say that in a series vs. Germany we win 4-1, maybe 4-2. But its not and thus we out........
Tournaments don't always have the best team winning. Matchups, injuries and the hot hand trumps "team".
48 min game vs. 40 might also prove a different outcome.

Fiba, world cup, and others: Oscar Schmidt

With the senior Brazil national team, Schmidt played in five Summer Olympics (he was the second player to do so after Teófilo Cruz) and was the top scorer in three of them. However, he never went past the tournament's quarterfinals. In the 1980 Summer Olympics, he played in seven games and scored 169 points, for a 24.1 average.

He again scored 169 points in seven games in the 1984 Summer Olympics. His best Olympic performance was the 1988 Summer Olympics. At that tournament, he scored 338 points, for an average of 42.3 points per game. In 1992, he scored 198 points in eight games, and in 1996, he scored 219 points in 8 games. In 38 career Olympic basketball games, Schmidt scored a record of 1,093 points, for an average of 28.8 points per game.

Schmidt is also the all-time career leader in total points scored in the FIBA World Cup, having scored a total of 843 points in 33 games, for a scoring average of 25.5 points per game. He won the bronze medal and made the All-Tournament Team at the 1978 FIBA World Cup, and he also made the All-Tournament Teams of both the 1986 FIBA World Cup and the 1990 FIBA World Cup, which he also led in scoring, with an average of 34.6 points per game.

Schmidt played in the gold-medal match of the 1987 Pan American Games, which was held in Indianapolis. The US national team, which was composed of NCAA Division I college basketball players at those games, featured two All-Americans in David Robinson (Hall of Fame member) and Danny Manning, two NCAA Championship Final Four MVPs, in Pervis Ellison and Keith Smart, and other future NBA players, such as Rex Chapman and Dan Majerle. Brazil faced a 68–54 halftime deficit. However, Schmidt finished the game with 46 points, in a 120–115 win for Brazil.

In 1996, at the age of 38, Schmidt retired from playing with the senior Brazilian national team as its all-time leading scorer. While representing Brazil, he scored a total of 7,693 points in 326 games played, for a career scoring average of 23.6 points per game.[19] In 1997, Schmidt was given the Olympic Order award.

why no NBA?

Schmidt was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in the sixth round of the 1984 NBA draft, and he played with them in their 1984 NBA training camp and preseason. However, he declined the club's offer of a fully guaranteed contract, because it was for considerably less money than he made at the time playing in Italy, and also because to accept the team's contract offer would have meant that he could no longer represent the senior Brazilian national team. That was because until 1989, NBA players were not allowed to play for national teams.[18]

Oscar tore it up but NBA did not think he could sustain in the NBA. Rokas might not be anywhere near Oscar but at some point he has to choose taking that risk. Its a tough business. Oscar likley made a lot of money from sponsorships given his celebrity in Brazil playing for the national team and the gig was not too bad in europe for many.

During the 1992 Olympics, a reporter asked Schmidt why he shot all the time, while his teammates were forced to set screens for him and never got the rock. Oscar answered: "Some people, they play the piano. And some people, they move the piano. I play the piano"
Unsurprisingly, he also did not play a lick of defense.
Bad fit for the NBA.

RJ played great in the Bronze medal victory over the US. He was the third scorer behind Brooks and SGA. If he can be that effecient as the third scorer behind Brunson and JR Knicks will be fought to beat as we take a step up

I am going to be honest. I had way more fun watching the Liberty play than watching Team USA. All the fans ruined it for me. The fans who fav players did not make the team turned to haters. Fans of players who did make the team turned to haters of everyone else that plays their fav player position. It was too much negatitivty for me. So I stopped watching and instead watched the Liberty and these girls are amazing. They have a ton of talent and play like peak GSW. Big Mama Stef hitting those 4 3's back to back had me going crazy. Sabrina and Stew York consistanly put in work. It is so much fun. Seeing the outcome of FIBA I guess I am glad I stopped caring.

I wasn’t able to watch the Canada game but I watched most of the games from the Lithuania game on. Really felt like USA bigs just weren’t dominant in the paint by any means. Not boxing out. And they weren’t efficient 3 point shooters either.

Edwards was able to get to the rim with his athleticism and Brunson was able to use that craftiness for the most part. Bridges played D but when he got beat there was no one really behind him to challenge.

I wasn’t that impressed with JJJ or Banchero. Portis and Kessler were non factors. USA would have been privileged to have Mitch Robinson in the paint. They brought oversized SFs instead of a Center.

Looking to the Olympics, I mean, they need the grown up men like Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo at center. But once the HoFers and all NBA players show up, I don’t think it’s really a competition.
