Mavs suck. They are not even trying to tank. They just suck and have lost like 6 of their last seven games.

The silver lining is, although this pick seems unlikely to convey now, the actual value of the pick is going up. Dallas is bad and their situation probably isn’t changing much next year.

It is top-10 protected for the next two year 2023, 2024, and 2025. If not conveyed by then, it becomes 2nd rounder.

It’s 3 years before that can happen. But my point about the pick growing in value is that up until this year it was perceived as a pick that would convey in the 20s. Now this Dallas team is in such shambles that the value of the pick raises because they still have luka so they can only be so bad. This is their floor. Dallas isn’t going to keep missing the play-in. This pick has a great chance of conveying in the 11-14 range next year, and that’s far more likely than it landing in the 20s.

Even if Dallas has the 10th worst record going in, it seems like someone leaps into the top 4 every draft, which would push the pick back to 11. As long as it's not Dallas that jumps.

I mean, I hate the Mavs, I hate Kyrie, that would be awesome to see. I would love nothing more than Mark Cuban, in between ripping people off with cryptocurrency, to have to re-sell the how KP trade after getting their lotto pick snatched away by chance

Err. My bad. It would have to be a team after Dallas that makes the leap. Still a lot to be determined. Final 3 for the Mavs are all at home where they are 6 games above .500
