NBA does not block his personal views and disallow his thoughts. he can privately hate on anyone he desires. But make it public, and your in the business of selling tickets and sponserships? Big Daddy has it right. 1st amendment is a prohibition against Federal Govt. Employers can and do impose restrictions all the time.

NBA is not perfect but they generally are more progressive a league when compared to other major leagues. Its players have been primarily black americans but now are also embracing international players and those markets to expand. Not all ownersand GM's historically have behaved well but many have. Red Auerbach and the Celtics were trailblazers and its success is well chronicled both on and off the court.
It was the right thing to do and good business to do so! Did all their fans like it? Of course not.

It will be very interesting to see Kyrie career going forward. He'll pick up some fans along the way no doubt but will he play in the NBA again?

I don't feel sorry for him. If he holds his values strong and "knows who he is" then kudos to a man who can actualize his best self and live as he chooses.
