Yep, problem with Noel and Burkes this season was they were 1yr expiring which meant they essentially had zero trade value despite them outperforming the yearly amount

You need some of those $10M contacts to act as salary ballasts in trades.

Some times you turn down a 4 year $70M contract, and then some years you sign a 3 year $32M contract.

Shooters seem to get $17-20mil per year contracts these days (Hield, Bertrans, Duncan, probably Fournier)

Lowry to the Heat.

Knicks enjoying a bag of dicks again in free agency. Fuck we are pathetic. Never get anyone.

Couldn’t even get Bogey last offseason.

C - this offseason

i like Noel but have mixed views on that contract

He's an impact player on D and covers up a lot of mistakes by others

but, he's also a liability on offense. You can't count on him to catch a lob or even a basic pass

i suspect i'll come around to it, but even if mitch signed for the same number you're talking 20+ from the center position collectively -- with limited offensive skills.

i suspect team chemistry and loyalty played into it, which is cool, but we do have some pressing priorities

Bill Simmons made a good point. Teams seem to instantly regret it when they sign these centers on multi-year deals. Also, they instantly set the market for Mitch next season.

All depends on team options/how much is guaranteed

Burks vs. McDermott, contract aside... I'm taking Burks!

Dude opted out of 44 mil. You knew he was still going to get paid, but damn! Hope they win a chip out of this because otherwise that contract for 40 year old CP is going to STING!

Welp.

Miami not only re-signed Duncan Robinson at an absolute steal but also landed our PG Kyle Lowry during a trade.

Miami Heat are now a better team than us.
