There are no silver medals in superstar sweepstakes.

The Suns went for the gold in trying to negotiate a deal to acquire James Harden from Oklahoma City, but Houston landed the gold medalist Saturday.

The Suns have assets of salary-cap space, draft picks (10 in the next three years) and players on good contracts but no offering struck Oklahoma City's fancy, and the Thunder sought more than Phoenix was willing to give.

"We were engaged in discussions on numerous occasions," Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said. "We most recently met in person when we played them (in Tulsa, Okla., on Oct. 19). At the end of the day, there wasn't a deal that was workable for both sides."

Babby said no proposal "got a whole lot of life." He did not specify the pieces or the time frame of the talks but mentioned that the deliberations were not a one-sided pursuit.

Phoenix thought they could wait until summer. Houston outbid them plain and simple.

Sometimes you have to pull the trigger. Knicks could have easily been Phoenix with Melo.

Is that good or bad?

I'm pretty sure he is one, although until this offseason, he did not seem to be good at it.

This despite his "Mistakes".

And still laughing...He drafted THREE PG in one draft and some may agrued traded the best out of the three that night. He could have filled so many holes and put his team would probably be in a much better position today.

We laughed at Memphis giving away Pau but they set themselves up to make playoffs, get interesting and got team sold for a reasonable price.

Everyone laughed and suspected foul play. That team had no intentions of getting better...all they were trying to do was sell the team. In the meantime, P.Gasol went on to win 2 Championships with the Lakers.

We Laughed at the Nets.

Ok now...lets wait until they start playing before we hand them the keys to city,

We lauged at Miami when they cleared house.

I dont ever recall anyone "laughing" at the Heat...If I remember correctly, After the Heat won the Championships, both Wade and Shaq were injured for most of the season and the team struggled. And I believe Wade was out for the Playoffs that year as well because of injury.

We laughed at Clips who are respectable now.

And their best player is still hoping to land on the Knicks.....

Whats funny is they all laugh at us.

If anything else, this was very poetic and a decent read.

Memphis became a playoff team.

Minny drafted Rubio. They are respectable now.

In both instances the teams does better at the gate and team value is increasing.

Nets franchise value seemingly doubled with move to Brooklyn. They are are relevant and brand identity defined going foreward. NO key to city.

Miami cleaned house and sucked.

CP3 will be cooked by the time he lands in NY.

Its just a view from Nalod. I don't laugh at other teams because I don't fine Knick path all that amusing myself.
I admire those teams that take risks even if they don't pan out. Knicks prefer to pay full retail on the established player but problem is they are usually past their prime. I get the model to not take risk but where is the reward for the fan? The desire to buy a Melo Jersey? Fawn over Marbury's return and sneaker dream?

Im not slamming any team until we can be respectable.
