Sacramento Kings Planning To Start Jason Thompson’s Contract At $6 Million

After trading Kyle Lowry, the Houston Rockets will meet with restricted free agent Aaron Brooks this weekend

The Mavericks are targeting Ramon Sessions

The Knicks have emerged as a favorite to sign Raymond Felton according to the New York Daily News, who of course had pretty good times there.

I'm surprised he wants to come here since we traded him after just 3 months. How cold would it be if we did that again?

According to his agent, he is no longer bitter and would love to rejoin the team.

If there was 1 reunion I would actually want to see - its Camby back in a NYK uniform playing at MSG. I don't think it will happen but then again, I never thought Kidd would be a Knick so anything is possible.

Not sure how I feel about Kidd. Nash was the right move - if we had MDA I think he would have come here for sure. Kidd probably doesn't help much unless last year was a fluke because of the lock out. How many players can say the lockout was the reason for their performance though? I understand it was tough but still - a bad year is a bad year.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS

In addition to agreement with Jason Kidd and matching Lin offer sheet, Knicks are intensely focused on re-signing J.R. Smith, source says.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
If somehow Lin offer sheet is too poisonous for Knicks to match, bringing Raymond Felton back is an option.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Knicks have non-guaranteed contracts they could offer Portland for Felton -- or Dallas for Kidd -- in sign-and trades. Cash, too, of course.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Benefit of doing sign/trade for Felton or Kidd would be to preserve taxpayer mid-level ($3M exception) for another player.

I have a "?" about FA. Kobe Bryant will make almost 30 million next year. If we want to reup CaRMELO at the end of his deal will he get raises from the end of the deal. Will we have to pay him 30 million a year to keep him or does his salary revert back to the first year of his deal cost. I just wonder why Max deals arent looked at as all the same on the salary cap. Why should one max deal be so much higher then another max deal. I dont get why the NBA okays these huge escalators when the salary cap isnt going to move

The way it works is when a players signs a new contract they can get raises based on the last year of their last contract. If they resign with the same team it would be a 7.5% raise and if they sign with another team it would be a 4.5% raise. Also, the maximum salaries were added in after the 98-99 lockout and, I believe, Kobe's first contract after his rookie year came before that so his contract is worth a lot more because he was grandfathered in. The same thing happened with Kevin Garnett as well.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

So Basically if we want to keep Melo we will have to pay him like 27 Million a year. NBA salary cap is complete nonsense. I wish the big market teams would just leaver the small market teams

It's a compromise of competing interests. In any industry you see some rules that look silly but they likely are each rules that one side wanted and the other side conceded.

Are we really involved in trying to get Mayo or is it just BS? Who are the Knicks legitimately targeting?

we cant afford mayo...were targeting s.weems and r. foye and camby
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I was talking to a friend about this....These owners band together and lock the players out to scale back the salaries, then as soon as the lockout is lifted, they F*** each other over by overpaying for guys like Fields, and create posion pill back loaded contracts. Its a joke....

Many of us were calling the owners out about this during the Lockout and this just confirms what we were saying about them! New CBA same owner on owner bad business practices leading to financial issues and bad teams. It's always been about the owners!!!

Eh, this is Knicks' fans just whining. I'm excited about the changes. Terry will make Boston a more exciting team to watch. Nash in LA! Possibly Dwight Howard in Brooklyn.

I'm not really talking about those deals or those teams. I'm talking about Landry Fields and Omar Asik. I'm a Landry fan, but I don't think it's that big of a loss. I'm just saying that Toronto signing is a disaster and is typical of the mistakes these owners make year after year. There wasn't a bidding war for fields' services. They just gave him that deal. But we'll forget about every other stupid deal that's handed the next time the owner's get greedy and want another cut out of the BRI.

how you figure they can afford mayo? other teams have actual cap room. knicks AT BEST have $3M mle and that's only IF they get dallas to agree to a sign and trade for kidd.

knicks backcourt right now is: Lin, Kidd, Shump, JR, White

they're pretty well stocked. they might bring in that Spanish/Argentine PG Prigioni, too.

They can use the S&T for Mayo for 3-6 mill. Grizz may want more cap room anyway.

Mayo might (and prob will) still get a higher offer than that from a team like Indiana or Phoenix that has a lot of cap room.

HE may. I am not really big on Mayo but its an option. I just want to see what happens with Morrow and Shawne. If Morrow is cut I would hope the knicks think about picking him up for vet min and say forget it.
