I have come to the conclusion that this backcourt has to go.... yea, I may be a year late, but I am convinced, actuall, I was an advocate of having crawford come off the bench.... We are no more than a 35 win team with this backcourt and defense...
I think change is coming. Don't assume that we're not gonna do anything to make adjustments if things aren't working. I also don't think that this team is totally lost. You can see how good the team can be when it's executing. I think we just need to have Isiah make the right adjustments to the rotation. I honestly believe that we have players on this team that can get it done, but it's a fine balance to get the right combination. This is going to be Isiah's toughest job this year. Figuring out how to make it work. I really think we're gonna get the mix right and play better. How often do you think our offense will be nonexistant like it was tonight? I would say more often than not, this team is gonna score a lot of points.
These 5 games have been very informative and I think Isiah can use them to make the decision to play Mardy more, in an effort to make the team more solid defensively. We still need the contributions from Jamal, but he may have to come off the bench or have his minutes cut to allow for more time for Mardy. He's clearly the best defensive PG we have. When Zach comes back we'll have enough scoring punch, so we can give up some offense for better D. Rather than panic and assume the sky is falling I think this is all part of the process.
Nix, I was at the game on Friday, and here's what I saw. I was not disappointed so much by the loss as much as by the fact that the team:
- had ZERO flow all night
- aside from Zach's string of nice jumpers, no one ever got in a groove
- ball movement for the most part stunk, and when we did find an open player he proceeded to miss open shots
- when the same happened for the opposition, they hit them,
- Jameer Nelson took the ball to the hole at least 4-5 times like he was Baron Davis, and he's not (and this follows the pattern of our defense making mediocre opposing PG's looking like all-stars)
- Turkoglu had an open shot anytime he wanted it.
- as much as I wish it were otherwise, Balkman is NOT ready to step into a starting role
I bought tix to 6 games this year, and I'm really disappointed by the product on the floor. Hard as hell to get excited about them. No team identity, focus, or hustle.
