Briggs what about the point i made - Of course Williams is better than Collins - But would williams make a hissy piss fit about playing behind Nate? I think so.. I think he would challenge nate for his position... And i think collins is fine with being a development player and not playing right now. So its basically - if you draft Marcus.. your shutting out Nate - Maybe marcus is a better player than nate, but i really LIKE Nate and i dont think if i was the GM i could do it to the fans to phase out the most likable player we have. I know i wouldent be happy

Lee, Fry, Craf, Jeffris look good as expected and may be even better that expected
QRich was very good but start touching his back and grimasing at the end of game.
Balkman much better that expected. He will be good next year.
Marbs is real self - slashing, scoring, passing if cannot score, getting beat on defence by anybody and never gives a d-mm.
Nate is mini-Marbs but not spoiled yet and defended well.
Curry... is Curry. He can do as much and can play as much (20 min/5 fls). He may be unstoppable but it is no need to stop him -he stops himself pretty mach
Steve is trying but he jast cannot run the team. Same volume shooting, no concentration on free trws, horreble passing
Callins is not ready and junk-time guys are junk-time guys.

All-in-all it's on upper end of expectation but not yet in the +wins area. IT need to work hard on it... and not fall in LB-like rotation trap. With a bunch of half-cappable gs this is not too easy to set the rotation.

Francis volume shooting? He shot 5FGA in 19 minutes. Of the top 10 guys only Curry and Jeffries attempted less FGs.

I thought Francis looked OK. For the most part he didn't force the issue (only one shot attempt worthy of a groan). He made some nice cuts away from the ball in the halfcourt and tried to push it a bit when he brought it up. Nothing outstanding but it'll take some time for him and Marbs to settle in.

looks like Francis will be running the point, which is odd. but it may be a good way to keep him involved and not shooting as much.

I never sad that he shot a lot.
The shots he is taking are not high %.
He need a lot of them to score more points.
Geting to the hup is his game but we already have Marbs doing this , and Nate doing this, and even Craf is now improved in this.
But Marbs can pass, Nate defend, and Craf can run the team.
What Steve can do besides slashing?

Thanks for the play by play guys... It was great to read your posts, fed with the knicks energy, i could nearly "see" your enthousiasm.

As i was telling to my girlfriend, it's been ages since a season started like this.

Collins looks like a whole lot of nothing but its hard to say really...

Marcus Williams looked great but honestly, he just had no place on this team - Unless we moved Nate or gave up on him which i personally wouldent want to do - Balkman looks great and is a great FIT for this team so honestly... I cant knock the decision... You want to say Marcus over Collins? I dont know - U think williams would be happy playing behind Nate? I dont... And i think Collins would have no problem with it. And thats important

from what i have seen from balkman the summer into tonights game im very impressed. he exudes old knicks and he has a lot of potential you just didnt see at SC. he can really handle the ball and hes the kind of guy who helps team s win. hes got more potnetial than just a role player he ha something of a poor mans scottie pippen thing going he can bring the ball up court and hes disruptive hes good enough plenty for the nba my remark about cba was just wrong--on the other side, i still am pirse off we did not select marcus williams and snag balkman at 29 or at the least bought that pick that boston did from pheonox for both of them.. they mustve rated mardy collins higher than marcus and hes not close. i think collins is a pure tweener and unlike balkman who has a physicality about him, i see collins as aloof non descriptive in terms of positioning and not a piece of the puzzle.

very happy with
q-rich and most knicks with exception of curry who wasnt good. i would keep brown he also has a toughness and i think he cabn develop miller is a softie skita scks

OMFG I think I'm about to frickin cry.

I was at a wedding so only caught some of the game, from what I saw and read from you guys this is what I took:

Frye and Lee looked great. It looked to me like Lee's ball skills really improved... he grabbed a couple boards and pushed the ball right up court.

Curry is a fat SOB and no matter who he works with its pointless unless you WORK. Kinda like hiring Steven Hawking to tudor Forrest Gump.

Balkman looked super. I'm really glad... kinda wondering why we spent 5 years and $30mm on JJ if Balkman seems better? Time will tell. Briggs wrote a nice "I'm happy to be wrong" I hope I get to right some of those

Was it me or did our starters play even against their starters (minus Carter and Kidd) ????

Thats not a good sign

One thing I noticed last night is that our second unit is awesome. I think that is how we are going to win games this year. Our second unit is simply going to be better than other teams second units all yearlong. We need to push the pace like they did last night and force other teams starters out of the game due to fatigue and let our second unit take over. We have the most depth in the league and we need to use it to our advantage.

Collins is frank Williams 06-07. Mardy is a bum. End of story.

Knicks got the bums out now and the nets are shaving points.

I want to fight a net fan right now. Bring it!

By the way mike breen is a bitch. He is not giving credit to the knicks.

I repeat Collins sucks.

Don't you guys think Collins is acting like...........oh' I don't know.................A ROOKIE?!!!
I'll never trust this' team again.

my hope is jsut that collins is ready to go by the time the francis/marbury backcourt experiment is over. if he's ready to play by then (maybe as long as 2 seasons) he'll be a welcome change- a big unselfish guard who plays D.

I agree, Collins looks nervous like his first SL game. I think it takes some guys some time to say wow, I finally made it and this is for real. Balkman acts like he belongs. The guy doesn't seem to have butterflies. You can feel his energy level through the t.v. I really like what I saw from Marcus Williams too. Thomas should have played the draft better to get all 3 actually but I can understand why he would pass on Williams. On this team, Williams would be white noise. Talented playmaker but whose defense is lacking. I thought Curry was decent. To be honest I thought a lot of his calls were bogus. I know it was pre-season but that officating was horrible both ways. There is a reason Stern and his people are trying to eliminate talking back to their officials after their calls. NBA refs still lead all sports as the worst officials. It's not any close anymore. Curry's pick up 2 offensive fouls while his defender was in the circle area. I can't fault a guy for that.
