Wow.

Just 3 weeks ago I was a comotose Knicks fan.

Now, I feel like a Homer.

Everyone shut up.

Just be happy.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

This has been an amazing offseason.
We are obviously stacked now.

quick question though about the Curry trade:
Most reports say we sent TT, Sweets, 1st rounder, and 2nd rounder.
With us getting Curry and AD.
But I have also read somewhere that we are also getting picks.
I have had a hard time finding out the actual details.
Can someone clarify this?
it sounds like there are conditions on future picks. The type of thing where if Curry stays healthy for the next couple years the Bulls get the better pick between us and them. So say we dont give them picks per say, but if our spot is 17 and theirs is 22 they get 17 and we get 22. That sort of thing. No way are we getting picks back straight up

so I guess nobody cares or is worried that he refused to take a DNA test and nobody will insure him.

Nobody that pretends to know anything about basketball will tell you that if Curry is healthy this is a bad trade. Its a coup. Its Jermaine Oneil for Dale Davis proportions bad (in favor of us). I like Sweetney and in the right situation will be a hell of a player. He's not Eddie Curry. Not even close.

I guess I'm having a hard time getting excited about a player that was just told by a renowned heart specialist that he should get more information before playing. Its not like Grant Hill or McDyess where the downside is a gimpy player making a ton of cash. The downside is watching a player we love and follow drop dead.

Maybe I am just more sensitive then most, I dont know. Am I just being a sissy? If so just tell me, I can take it! My god, am I a gay robot?

Right now the REAL upside is come hell or high water I wont ever have to see Tim Thomas in a Knick uni again.

I understand what you're saying Fish. I agree, but... maybe Curry's heart condition is overblown. While one Bulls specialist said he should get more testing, two or three others said it was unnecessary. Was it that important to the Bulls or were they throwing up a smokescreen as an excuse to get rid of a player who had been classified as lazy and a discontent with their system and was demanding a very high salary.

I don't really know; all I can tell is that Curry and his agent wanted Curry out of Chicago bad, for one reason or another. I do believe Paxson had Curry's best interests at heart, but I also feel like Curry, the Knicks, his agent, and his family should hopefully be wise enough to make sure Eddy can play before sacrificing anything. It's very possible that Curry had the DNA test at one point or another and already knows the results, but, on principle, doesn't want the results of a DNA test going to the Bulls. Sounds strange, but maybe there's another reason other than his heart? Nobody will know the answer. I'm going to go into this, assuming he's fine... you don't go and pay him $10mm+ a year if you're not sure. So, hopefully the Knicks made a smart buy.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Y'know, Zeke is pretty wired in Chicago, and who knows what tests Curry took for his own piece of mind.

I can't really buy into Paxson or your theory here. I understand your point but Paxson is full of it which today Billy Knight called him out on too. Let me get this straight you will still give him a contract if he fails a DNA test that predicts that he "may be" more likely to have that could or could not be fatal but if he passes this test you will max him out. OK. Curry has already told everyone who knows since last year that his first choice was to leave the tight string purses of the Bulls, he wanted money, they didn't really want to pay him (wonder what's wrong with Chandler, why did it take so long to pay him). Paxson fearing that this young man may die on his watch so much that he goes through the steps of ensuring that the Bulls have the right to match any offer and he goes on to scare Billy Knight into not even offering Curry a contract. Sounds real sincere. To me a look at this way, Stoudamire just signed a max contract yesterday. Next month he could have a stroke due to his high blood pressure which was not known to him, his doctors or the Suns medical staff since its fluctuates (the most dangerous type of high blood pressure among Americans especially African-American males). I mean a significant long iron clad contract is a risk pure and simple. Look at Allan Houston. I mean how is Curry contract that more riskier than paying a lot of money on a jump shooter who knees could go bad.

I agree Pharzeone. This trade will not go through if the NY doctors dont pass him. I think Paxson and the Bulls didnt want to pay him and just decided to cover themselves.

Amare doesnt have a doctor telling him to get a test for a stroke, or insurance companies tell him "NO"

Hey.. I hope you guys are right, I really do.

Hey Fishmike,

Damn, we spent all that time arguing for nothing!

Anyway, I know you really like Sweetney and I do too. We all get emotionally attached to players. Hell, I only got over the Mark Jackson trade when he retired!

I am glad to see that you are ready to accept Curry, as am I, bad heart and all.

Another thing is, any trade that gets TT off the squad can't be all bad!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

The only squad TT should be in front of is a firing squad.

The NBA Approved it. Don't know about him passing the tests. Let's hope he did.

hey.. any reservations I have about Curry regard his ticker, NOT his game. Yes he's been lazy, yes he's been overweight, yes he doesnt attack the glass and defers to teammates there, yes he's uninspired on defense and yes he's got the talent and age to correct every one of those things. Also we have the coaches to do it.

I also think Crawford is a super positive presense for him. The two are like best mates, and I liked what I saw from Crawford when it came to listening to the coaches and trying different things.

The upside to this trade is a star bigman for the next 10 years. I liked Sweets alot but Curry can take us places Sweetney simply can not.

Ive just got to work on putting the heart thing out of my mind.

Fish, I understand you, man. No one wants to see anything like tragic. To be honest I have and still have the same feeling about overweight players in any sport. It's ironic but I always was scared for Sweetney. I remember one game where he was trying to catch his breath and had to just bend over. I guess I will start feeling the same way for Curry now, no different then me thinking about Demarr Johnson hitting the ground everytime when he was a Knick. But life isn't scripted.

Another good part about the trade is that Paxson gets screwed. He can't stand Sweetney. Wanted no part of him last season. Now you hear talks that he doesn't even plan to waste money on trying to resign him. I am now more curious to see what teams are interested in Sweetney and his worth. Grunfeld had the same attitude with Sweetney.

I have concerns about both Curry's health and his game. I don't believe Curry has either the intensity or the basketball instincts to be a great defender or rebounder. And he doesn't have the outstanding athleticism to compensate. Offensively, he's got incredible potential - hopefully, that overshadows his considerable weaknesses.

Of the possibility of cardiomyopathy, I'm disgusted that he isn't taking a DNA test. If Curry dies because the Knicks are negligent, thats something no one should forgive - and I certainly won't. Both the Knicks and Curry need to be extremely careful. Responsibility comes with the territory.
