O.K, so what's your point? They're still 20-25 overall, 10th place of the Western Conference and still 4 games back of the 8th seed.

The Lakers beat OKC? Congrats to them. Not to go off topic here but our Knicks have beaten the Heat twice along with the Spurs twice.

But once again, the Lakers are on a three game win streak (OKC, UTAH & New Orleans). Big deal. Say hello to 20-25 overall, 5 games below .500, 10th seed of the Western Conference and only 3.5 games ahead of the Kings for the 13th seed of the West (only ahead of Phoenix and New Orleans).

That's reality...

WHAT Do the knicks have to do with the lakers? They are making an observation about the lakers recent good play... and they are playing better..

seriously now...the West isnt that tough. I wish fans on this site would stop overrating that conference.

btw...DC beat OKC last week and Minnesota a couple of weeks before that....does that mean they have figured it out as well?

Regardless, I also hope LA makes the playoffs because I think they would put up a bigger fight than Houston or Utah as a 8 or 7 seed and, as much I dislike MDA, I kind of feel bad for him and I want to see him succeed..........a little.

not sure what pointing out losses to DC proves, the wizards are going to win some games, they are a professional team... the west is tough.. OKC, Spurs, clippers, memphis, heat, are the class of the league.. right now only one of them.. the heat are in the east... we can point out how we beat the heat and spurs, but we got clobbered by the rockets, and were down almost 30 to the horrible kings in an eventual loss... the east has some solid teams tho.. you can add the pacers, bulls, brooklyn and knicks, pretty much all in the same boat... if the bulls get rose back somewhat healthy, they have a chance to become a legit contender as well, but overall the west is just better at this point....

From eyeballing it, it looks like the average winning% in the west is around .530 and in the east is around .470. My guess is that if you look at only interconference matchups, the winning percentages will be striking.

Washington also beat Miami. We play them in less than a week in Washington. Won't be easy. Much tougher than Sacramento and Philly who blew us out

Especially if the other team has at least one player or coach who at at least one point in time was on the Knicks.

I quoted the wrong post from Guns...Point was, although a good sign, it doesn't matter that the Lakers beat OKC...Lets see if they can continue this streak and declare MDA an Offensive genuis....again....

You're right....Just looked at the Vs. Division and the West have abusing the EAST. I was just looking at the playoff standing records and didnt think the gap was that huge.

Ah, I knew there was a way to get that info. but forgot how.
In head to head match-ups, the west's winning % is .591 (and east is .409).
That's why I look at the Power Rankings to try to get an idea of how the teams stack up against each other.
http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings
We've been pretty even with Denver and Houston all season even though we have a better record. We're about even with Memphis too.

It should flatten out on both conferences as more inter-conference games take place and the west starts beating up on each other.

The fact the "Struggling" knicks are 2nd in the division Miami is not up to last years standards its might stand that the east really behind thus far.

It a long season.

Its about who hits the playoffs hard down the stretch. Lakers have some games to make up but could hit their stride and be a dangerous first round opponent. Philly could get Bynum and the chemistry could be just right.

Never know! Its why we play the games!

Doesn't really mean much. In interleague baseball I've seen the AL dominate the NL but the NL team wins the world series

It means a lot in terms of evaluating teams' records across conferences. What you can conclude from your comment is just that it doesn't guarantee that the team from the better conference will win the championship.

Hmm, a lot of trash talking between Nets and Heat- should be a good game! And the beauty of it is, is that it's win-win for us as one of the teams has to lose and take a hit in the standings.

Damn am I actually going to have to root for the Nyets? My Goodness...

Problem is the Nyets can't beat good teams especially the Heat. They are getting embarrassed again

Only this summer could be merky for them otherwise they have assets bro...they've always had a high payroll

Come on, stop it..Lakers need to win and win now..Or they are screwed for the next few years...Do they reup Kobe for a couple of years in 2014/15??..Resign DHow??..Nash will be in a wheel chair..

I didn't say there wasn't urgency with their franchise but they have managed to acquire quality assets at pretty much low bargains and hold on to their future ones.

They own Dwight's Bird's rights so it's not like they couldn't flip him into something. He appears to be getting a little more healthy.

They can trade Gasol too.
