![]() When I first heard about this trade I was very lukewarm.
Not a huge fan of Randle but KAT contract is atrocious. Also, KAT is good but it's not like he is a superstar. But then I thought about it more. Knicks are getting the best player in the deal. That much is certain. And it gives them size which they needed. Really hated to also give up DD, but as others have stated his role would have diminshed here. Not good for him. Especially with how much he helped the team this year. I think the Knicks believe Kolek will be a contributing bench piece soon. I think the part of this trade that noone is talking about is now the Knicks don't have any trade flexibility since they are a second apron team. |

![]() 100% moot point, but do Knicks still make this trade if iHart stayed?

![]() I would assume Shamet, Mook and Okeke make the team now.
I wouldn't trade Mitch. KAT is a horrific defensive C and Thibs can't play that way. KAT is a better 4. |

![]() Towns will be good for ball movement. My only concern is that with Randle gone, Brunson might go back to the ball stopping of his early days in NY.
When RJ was traded, we went from 3 ball dominant players to two, which worked. OG plays off the ball so the ball moved. Hoping Brunson plays like he did last season, a good mix of scoring, and sharing the rock. |

![]() I think this has less to do with finding an iHart replacement and more to do with getting value for Randle. If they were talking with the Wolves since last summer, I'm guessing they were going to just swap KAT for Randle at the 4. The Wolves would have no desire for Mitch or iHart. I'm surprised they even took back Randle to be honest. They already have Naz Reid, who I presume gets signed at a lower number than Randle.
Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: The Knicks have long been linked to Towns. Rose was his agent when he was the head of CAA. Towns Sr. attended Rose’s first game as Knicks president. Rose and New York exec William Wesley are close friends of the Towns family. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. Another concern is that they're now counting on Bridges to step up his creation game. Randle can create shots and put pressure on the interior in a way that KAT doesn't. Bridges will have to fill that void. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Setting good screens for Bridges will be important. The less dribbling, the better. KAT committing to setting good screens for his teammates will be a big bonus. Especially in the playoffs. |

![]() At first I had similar reaction as others to MaTT4281: Nope. But I also think BigDaddyG is correct.
I don’t know the logistics but could the Knicks have still traded Randle, DDV, extra for KAT while iHart still on roster? Hard to know. If so, the same reasons as BigDaddyG suggests still hold but now with the chance to move Mitch to Pelicans for a Herb Jones’s type.
