I love this trade. OG is a great fit on this roster. Wings like OG are impossible to get. This is a major upgrade to the SL. Too bad about IQ but he needs to start and that wasn’t happening here. This does open a path for our Euro stash PG. In the meantime I happen Deuce can capitalise on his opportunity. Precious should also fit right in with the second unit. Dude plays his ass off. You gotta love the effort guys.

Sounds like Precious is someone they coveted and Flynn was just a throw in extra body at point guard as we are thin there.

Agree. Can think about how MR, Randle, OG, IQ and JB starting lineup would do.
But not to be.
Agree with most, they may want that $25M going to DM.

I think Grimes and OG is what you need next to Brunson and Randle. It just compliments them too well.

I agree about them complimenting best but have doubts that Grimes wants to play with Randle.

Guess time will tell with RJ gone as that could possibly open up spacing and help Grimes progress.

Despite always favoring RJ (to Randle) I think it's a pretty good deal overall. Doesn't matter who is "better" if it improves our fit and make the team function better... which I think it will. I do still believe we would have to upgrade the 4 position/Randle to be a serious contender but this trade should move us from a 1st/2nd round playoff team to a 2nd/3rd round playoff contender.

If rumors are correct about this being a prelude - makes me think Murray will be the guy if we swing for another trade this season. Lavine does not want NJ and has shaky knees and lousy contract. DM could come here in the offseason but makes us pretty small in the backcourt. Murray plays great defense, can help with playmaking at times and is long defensively. Only concern I have about him is that he is rumored to be a knucklehead/difficult team guy and not sure how that would play out here.

og is probably going to get $35-40 mil a year. precious is a good defender but thibs has to really restrict his role to just defense. he's a spaz otherwise. flynn is 15th man.

iq/barnes fit should be great and hoping iq explodes like maxey.

detroit 2nd is #31 - guaranteed. the knicks other picks (like dallas and washington) will never convey so they don't have as much value imho.

this is an old school fair trade by 2 teams that want to re-balance their teams. really solid deal! nba needs more deals like this.

how did this trade happen with both teams in court?

How is Dallas pick not going to ever convey? It will convey this year.

My first reaction like some others was that the Raptors got the best player in IQ. On reflection that may not be the case although injury issues for OG are a concern. I so wanted to see IQ and RJ in particular take us to the promised land but that didn't seem like it was going to happen. I will miss both of them and wish for their success, just not against us. I also think Precious may be the wildcard here - a potential "Thibs" player who fills a need at the much discussed backup PF spot and perhaps at center.

And as others have pointed out there are other variables to take into account. Fit and chemistry, salary cap, and possible subsequent moves. So we shall see, but in the meantime I say with assurance we did not get fleeced.

yea i've come around to it.

It's not a slam dunk deal, IQ might very well already be just as good as OG, but OG plays a more important position for us and balances the roster and gives us more size.

RJ... we gave him time he just has no shooting touch and his feel for the game is surprisingly bad for a guy that was basically groomed to be an NBA player.

Paying IQ and RJ $50m+ combined was going to really limit us. Hopefully OG comes in around $30m instead.
