Haha. watching around the league game 1 seems to be uglier than the norm. That said it seems like this team has fully committed to winning ugly. Randle and Brunson were both 5 for 20 and they just kept attacking the rim while the team kept attacking the glass. On defense, they are insanely physical off-ball and clog the paint. The Kings and Warriors play a different sport

However, you are assuming the three deal trade would have been orchestrated of Knicks were involved.
KP also signed an extension. You said superstars miss games, KP misses seasons with one bad break.
Keep in mind we are all morning morning quarterbacking after a strong game. One in which the Knicks despite three of their starters having bad games still had a chance to win.

But I will concede that I would not have been disappointed if we were able to add KP. But nervous about his health yearly.

What about a lesser deal to bring in Kelly Olynck or someone so we aren't counting on Simms or good grief something that makes us less guard heavy. I mean come on, give us something...

I've always liked Kelly O a lot. When we signed I-Hart I was all about him or Zach Collins. I'd love to have someone like Kelly O to play him some minutes with Randle so teams get a different look from us sometimes. I don't think Thibs would do that but he would be interesting as a backup 4 option. That said I thought the team played its bast last night when they went to that 4 wing lineup with Mitch at the center spot. Mitch is a monster. Playing him with smaller more skilled surrounding players is an option I like

That wasn't the deal though, right? Boston gave up a defensive player of the year type guy on a very friendly contract at $20M per for 3 years. Marcus Smart is good.

WSH didn't want Smart though, he was just rerouted to get BOS another 1st. WSH got Tyus Jones, Muscala and a 2nd rounder for KP. We could have easily beat that.

the return for KP was really low. I don't think teams know how to plan for the new CBA and it made for a lot of weirdness this off-season including KP going for a very low price after a great year in Washington. I know it's Washington and sometimes performance on bad teams doesn't translate but I don't see why KP's can't.

Very encouraged by how RJ played. I know he took some bad shots and ended up 8/20 but he played well overall which is encouraging considering he's been a slow starter. And great game by IQ. The 10 misses in close misses by Randle are a little concerning IMO. Not b/c I don't think Randle can make shots but b/c of how the Celtics used KP. He didn't pay attention to Mitch or I-Hart. He zoned the basket. I remember a couple of plays where I-Hart caught the ball just past the foul line and KP didn't think about coming out from under the basket. Just waited for him to drive into him and tried to eat him up when he got to the rim. Of Course, KP is 7'3 so it wouldn't not work as well for other teams but I didn't like seeing a team so easily game plan against us that way.

Name names. WHo blew the call; what’s his score/rating etc. What’s the explanation (e.g., he didn’t have anccess to the the Twitter feed) and what is the follow up. We need transparency

I mentioned this before in other threads. With the amount invested in teams and players there should be dozens of refs (only 3 on the court). Those guys should have a mechanism to communicate info to the refs on the court especially when there is review

And the 2 minute report is a joke. It doesn’t account for the (by far) #1 things players and coaches want: consistency. SO in the report they can say yes that was a foul or not, but they never say whether that call was consistent with the judgment applied the rest of the game. They bend over backwards to say everything was fine

You also had 6 assistant coaches on each sideline who's job is to get one blown call right with the coach's challenge, yet somehow both teams got it wrong. Human error is for real.
