He makes a good point. Another question I have is why does Mitch set screens at all anyway? We never hit him with the lob and he never sets solid screens to get the ball handler a step. What is the point? Steven Adams sets hard and mostly illegal screens that Ja uses to create havoc. Mitch's screens have sucked for years.

You see Randle and Mitch both converge, clogging up the paint. The ball movement is even worse. You see JB standing their doing nothing while Hart drives. He should be moving, creating a passing angle for Hart. Grimes can than rotate to the top of the key for a decent shot. Blame all around on that play. Mitch and Randle on the court makes things to easy for Cleveland.

And let's not forget CLE has one of the best, very best defenses in the league. They play a big part in this equation.

But those guys do need to move ball more.

These possesions should be counted as turnovers because that is essentially what they are. Also notice the whole possesion with no off ball movement agin.

Mitch sets screens to free himself. Steven Adam’s sets screens to free up ja.

Mitch will be weaving himself out of the rotation, if he can’t set picks and we don’t utilize him on offense. He’s still a solid player but not sure if he fits thibs offensive style. Hart is a better offensive minded center who’s becoming a good run protector. This will make Mitch expendable for the right trade.

IQ needs to wait until Mitch comes to him to set the pick. You literally can't set a pick from the distance Mitch is at while IQ is moving. It would be either a moving screen or a completely useless pick because IQ isn't doing his end correctly by waiting until the pick gets to him. He is panicking cause of the defense.

Let me be specific about what happened here I was looking for a package on my camera while typing but it was not for me. I am not talking about 2 first two. Those were them trying to setup what they actually wanted to do. The 3rd one was actually a DHO but they serve the same purpose as a pick. That is why it seems like the spacing is a little off. After the pass back Mitch should be making the defender have to go around him to slow him down.

If you have to do a moving pick then do it. Every team does them. Why can't we? The warriors got championships with theirs. Steven Adams does a million of them every game. You will get called every now and then but you live with that. The refs will not call all of them because it will make games take forever. Since Quicks defender did not lose a step having to navigate around Mitch all that happened is quick got doubled. Quick never got the chance to attack Allen in space. So what was the point of it? What did we gain from doing that DHO? To waste shot clock?

Everything action should be done for a reason. If Picks and DHO's are not getting you an opportunity to breakdown the defense you are doing something wrong.

That is fine we don't have to agree. We just have a difference of opinion. I just don't see how we will beat the hard hedge and doubles the guards are seeing without at least setting hard screens. I will trust that Thibs will make the right adjustments.

Don't get me wrong, Knicks players need to set better screens in general to get guys like IQ and Brunson free, just don't think the above is a good example of anything besides IQ learning what it means to play against really good defense. Mitch too for that matter.

IMO Brunson played well in game 1 and so did Josh. Those are the only 2 guys that have played with poise, the rest have shown their inexperience.
