I think I want Durant to want the knicks, but then say we say "No thank you"! I jus
If the medical on all this is he needs a season to return to form we talking about the back end of a two year deal. That's a hell of financial commitment to make.
In two years Knox and Barrett should be well formed with a pretty decent understanding of who they are and not even age 22! Same for Robinson. WE need on court veteran leadership with short contracts.
IM not about to mope around thinking we traded KP and got little in return.

If the Knicks really wanted Kyrie, Im guessing Kyrie would be leaning towards NY..Perry/Mills probably wanting to know what KD will do first.

Durant wouldnt know what the Knicks would look like when he got back. All he knows that its a young, unproven, team. Not surprising if Durant passes at this time. Guessing Irving might go to Bklyn, because they didnt qualify their interest in him.

Dont believe tbe Knicks are going to be seen as really being "under new mgmt" until this young core looks like it could play a role with a contender. Right now elite FAs will probably take a wait and see attitude.

Kawhi to the Lakers would suck. I am hoping he goes back to Toronto at least until he is a ten year vet. I think Kyrie is either a Net or a Laker. I think there is still a good chance KD is a Knick. I think the Knicks get killed if they sign KD and get killed if they don’t.

Popper on the Bank Shot pod said that when he went to the nba combine every executive said Durant and another star coming to the Knicks was a done deal.

I’d only be ok with this if the other star was Kawhi.

What a guy.....Pass!

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/kyrie-irving-reportedly-refused-sign-140114749.html

In a recent piece by ESPN's Jackie MacMullan, she outlined a bizarre story about Irving refusing to sign balls that the team was planning on donating to their charitable partners.

At the completion of the regular season, the team set up 100 balls in a room for their charitable partners. Everyone signed the balls except Irving. When pressed to do it, say team sources, he was neither aggressive nor confrontational. He merely said, "No, I'm not interested in that."

So, guess we should be prepared for the best news of free agency being Kemba to the C's so those 2nd round picks become more valuable.

I would not so easily believe it. This seems like since kyrie is leaving they are out to assassinate his character. Ainge was talking nice about Kyrie until it was obvious he was gone. If he was so bad why did they want him back?

MacMullan has been covering the Celtics for more than 20 years, has connections. This isnt some blogger trying to build a rep. Listening to the Ainge quotes about Kyrie coming back, he didnt seem all that enthusiastic.

Doesnt seen to be anything to deter some fans from wanting Irving to get a max deal. The lack of leadership skills isnt a deterrent, the frequent injuries, the ball stopping. None of it.

It's a general rule of American professional sports that a parent franchise will try to monetize everything it can possibly squeeze for a dollar.

Irving might also have several deals in place limiting to how much he can sign and stay within the bounds of said contract with the non NBA business.

Not signing/refusing to sign is really not that uncommon.

Sports memorabilia is just a really ****ed up parts of the entire sports culture.

My general rule was I would always do it for kids. And always personalize it with their name ( Thus negating the possible resale value of it. Obviously I'm not Peyton Manning, so his situation or a profile like that, it's more complicated) But lots of shady people will recruit kids to get things signed for them.

Boston has a nasty habit of ****ting on outgoing sports icons there. I hate the ****ing Red Sox, but I can't lie and say I didn't feel bad for Terry Francona. The Sox ****ted on him real good on the way out. They dragged his personal medical history out on him to **** him over. Not saying some people don't deserve to get dragged over the coals (Aaron Hernandez...) But you have to take the local Boston media with a grain of salt.

The variables are much harder for higher profile athletes. It's much easier for a low level fringe player to negotiate much of the general problems with this kind of stuff.

At least Irving didn't do what Isaiah Thomas 2 did, which was do charitable stuff then throw that **** in everyone's face as to why he deserves a max deal. If you do stuff for charity, you don't do it with an expectation of some kind of return. That being said, every franchise will milk the **** out of you if you seem like you can be manipulated to make them even more side money.

Little Isiah Thomas has always been an eager dude always trying to prove himself. The story was cool when he was taken with the last pick in the 22nd round. As he moved up the ranks he got louder and louder!!
Does it suck he got hurt and missed his window to get paid. While it for sure hurt him, its why you don’t give little dudes big max money. When they break, they can’t make up for the length.
This guy is lobbying to go back to Boston if they pay him. Ainge made him, then he broke him.
Maybe the Kharma of him and Kyrie are just some bad JuJu.

Nalod gets requests to sign items but I too refrain. Actually I sign either Pete Rose’s name or “Pikachu”.

While I’m grumpy, is it me or does Magic Johnson just need to go away for a while? It’s like he loves to be the center of it all even when he is not. His quotes over Kawhi wanting a meeting with him then blabber about Lebron and how good his life is just reeks of insecurity.
It’s like he left but really looked bad doing so. The Shyt Lakers show really did not turn to that bad as they seem to be all in with current roster of just Lebron and Kuzma for the moment. AD and another “star”??
If Magic so happy with the good life, why he always gotta tweet it?

Leonard and Durant are each planning discussions and meetings with several teams, but only the Clippers and Knicks are in alignment with salary-cap space and common interest to sign both players. Brooklyn could conceivably house both, but a more likely scenario would be Durant and point guard Kyrie Irving signing as free agents with the Nets. Brooklyn is firmly Irving's focus in free agency, league sources said.

Leonard is expected to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Knicks and Toronto Raptors upon the opening of free agency. Durant is planning conversations with the Clippers, Knicks, Nets and Warriors, league sources told ESPN.

Sounds like they're going by the 2 teams they have in common in terms of visits. Add more players to the list, and look at who they're visiting, and you can make up other combinations, no?

Is there any info out there that Durant and Leonard have actually spoken to each other about potentially signing together?
