Gery Woelfel: Told @Wesley Matthews has keen interest in the Knickerbockers and vice versa.
Free Agency, Wesley Matthews, New York Knicks

He is using knicks to drive up mavs price to 14 or 15 that he wants. Mavs only offering 12.

Would people take injured Wes over Afflalo?

I think I would take the risk on Wes. He's so damn all around good.

But the achilles thing is scary.

Also, apparently Kobe and LMA didn't hit it off when he met with the Lakers.

I haven't been following the Spurs plans closely but . . . if today's Splitter giveaway means that Aldridge is heading to the Spurs, does that mean the Spurs are hoping that next year's team will basically be this year's team but with Aldridge in place of Splitter? Do they _have_ to get rid of anyone else? Leonard and Green are signed, right? Duncan will come back for a year for a song?

Right. And they're not sure whether or not Manu will come back for cheap or retire at this point.

Something tells me for LMA it's between Spurs and staying in Portland. Lakers presentation sounded like a joke. Rockets and Suns supposedly made great presentations.

Manu is a vet talent at this point, they can split the MLE with Duncan and Manu *they can pay him most of it as Duncan doesn't care as much for money and has made plenty in his lifetime already
While Manu has taken discounts with the entire franchise in order to keep the core together
Though NOT having STATE tax and a winning culture/coaching staff that emphasiss sacrfice and the BIGGER picture much more, starting with David Robinson's days till now

That is why we NEED TO present DeANdre JOrdan and FUTURE TOP TIER TALENTS with a GREAT PITCH, something we didn't do well with Lebron in 2010
Something that WOWS THEM with what we can be with him and how much we would value them, taking the time to show how much we want to recruit them

What would be different from joining us vs other teams and how we could continue to build with them and get talents both on the court and development coaches to help them on the court
As well as helping their advertisements/endorsements, while winning in New York would be a vision worth the gamble IF we can sign 2 TOP TIER talents to go with our core here together

With Dirk, he is old while KP could become the next Dirk/Gasol with great work ethic and would learn under DeAndre Jordan who has improved his strength/athleticsm/mobility and skills every summer and year
On top of that, we have a owner that is very passionate and is willing to pay them for another 2-3 contracts after this one, while we get their BIRD RIGHTS

Selling them on how we can utilize them differently to be a DOMINANT force for DEFENSE/OFFENSE/CHEMISTRY/ and DOMINATE with some plays on which they would be utilized that would be NIGHTMARES to defend
Had CA actually taken a real discount, we would have enough to sign LA and Jordan to HUGE contracts, while resigning CA, and still have the FULL MLE to work with, with Cole Aldrich's early bird rights
That is why I think we should keep at least ONE of these vet min players, as we would own their early bird rights next year, possibly 2 like Lou Amundson/Lance Thomas in order to have the FULL MLE again NEXT year

These players need a vision on how we are looking to continue to improve to achieve that ring both on the court and by acquiring talents, something Houston does very well as selling points

Along with how we can attract next years FA class as well as the following years, they would take SLIGHTLY less if they felt it would give us a LEGIT chance to do so, showing them a plan how the numbers we would be able to be able to do so...
