the knicks are not winning a championship next year so what's your point? in fact, the knicks have very little chance of winning a championship with melo. it was a huge mistaker and waste of time and money for the knicks to sign him. they have gone into full rebuild instead of trying to build a contender with a 31 year old. there's a clear, "logical disconnect" about these knicks, the natural result of which is polarization.

I think if you have a high percentage of posts that are personal attacks and one liner jokes at the expense of other posters and a very low percentage of actual discussion of basketball that is not what this forum is about.

It's easy to attack posters who put their neck on the line regularly. For those who just sit back and wait to pounce on others who actually put forth fully fleshed out points of view I don't have any respect for that. The easiest thing to do is just sit back and attack others. Especially when it comes to the Knicks over the last 15 years. You're going to look like a genius if you simply default to being negative. There's been more bad with the Knicks than good, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to stake out a position on the negative and just default to that. Only 1 team wins the title and very few franchises have been winning titles historically.

IMO a Fan forum is the most likely place to find people who want to try and find ways that their favorite team can be successful. If you stick your neck out to try and come up with ways the team could be successful that is a very risky move. You leave yourself open to attack from those who enjoy taking shots at others tho they never stick their neck out on anything.

Yes this season has been awful, however, for the 1st time in a long time there's the chance for something truly positive to happen for this franchise with the coming draft. The team also has cap space to use in Free Agency, which is not always the case. So you would think there is a lot of positive things to discuss even in a lost season. Some of us choose to expend energy trying to come up with ways this team can improve this summer. It takes a lot of work to put together reasonable scenarios for what Phil could do. You know what is frustrating and makes someone angry after doing that, is to have someone come along and post a one line joke about how Melo is the reason nothing will work or that Phil couldn't possibly put a good team together this summer because of how this season went and just stick a Zen joke in there for good measure.

It isn't hard to see how and why that seems to be happening more and more on this forum. Perhaps it would dissuade the followers who come out of the woodworks and pile on as well. It seems to me that there has been an increase on this forum of posts that have no real depth and are simply personal attacks or some constantly interjecting unrelated points that derail good threads. As i've said it's easy to just sit back and take pot shots at others who stick their necks out and create meaningful threads or points of view. It's doesn't raise the level of conversation, is very annoying and contributes to the arguments and nastiness on this forum.

I'm not a comedian but I love a good joke. I stated this in my 1st paragraph above. No one has anything against humor. I don't consider posts that have no other content except personal attacks to be a proper "mode of expression". If you're actually making points and have strongly worded responses that is going to happen from time to time.
