Those who dislike the trade state their opinion, act as if what they are stating are facts, but don't want to have a discussion about the things their arguments are based upon. Now it's about who's a real fan and who's not. Who's a melo hater and who's a homer.
I think those who agree with the trade just want to know ...
1. What assets did we lose?
2. Why keep saying Melo was being greedy, when all it takes is a simple google search that return plenty of articles that explain he made a great financial decision and was vindicated by the lock out.
3. Why is it ignored that without the trade we wouldn't have JR or Tyson (both had offers from other teams)
4. Tired of hearing about draft picks. How many do you watch college basketball, because the upcoming drafts are weak!
5. If not Melo then who else do you sign? I remember some posters wanted Deron Williams ... lmao
6. Why keep saying we're going nowhere in the damn future when our starting line up (felton, Shump, Melo, Tyson) minus 1 spot is set for the next 3-4 years. That's something to build on.
7. How do you ignore the main reason for JR signing the contract he did this year was so we can sign him next season with his rights?
8. So we have our draft pick and MLE with 4/5 starting spots locked and a good 6th man and it's all doom and gloom ... lol
9. How can you ignore that Miami is 23-11 with a healthy roster and we're 23-12 with a load of injures.
10. Felton and Shump won't make that big of a difference??? Just ask Boston how Bradley is turning their season around. When you replace Kidd and Brewer with Felton and Shump, you add 2 penetrating guards that can guard the quicker opposing guards and hit a open jump shot which will minimize some of the double/triple teams on melo.
11. Lastly, another thing that get's on my nerve is how some posters want to talk about the Strength of the schedule but when Melo was in Denver and those who favor him was making this argument is was irrelevant . Go figure.
+1
#1 - 11 can be answered simply: generic hate. The Somberites on here don't like Melo. Or they love Brooklyn. Or they haven't gotten over Gallo Love. Or Lin Love. Or Lee love. Or [for the love of warm feces] Crawfish or Zbo love. Give it time, you'll be reading threads about how Melo drove that HOF'er Landry Fields out of town. And how TD was supposed to have been our PG of the future. Anthony Randolph [starts to tear up]...all that potential...could've built the team the RIGHT way... sniffle sniffle...cap space...my god, where's my cap space?
We are #2 in the effing conference, and we've beaten the Hate and the Spurs twice each. And with injuries galore. But what do we hear: it don't mean a thing because Danny Granger and Derrick perennially injured Rose are coming to set the world back on it's foundations.
They'd take Deron over Melo [this month, at least]. They'd take IT over Melo. They'd take Darko over Melo. They will explain the upside of being a Nuggets or Rockets fan to you. Or when all that fails, they lean on the "our owner and FO are pukepiles" expositories. They will point to 40 years of chip constipation.
Personally, I can't wait for the resurrection of ECurry and the Melo effect on that fiasco.
It's really just a worldview thing. Facts don't really need to enter the picture, and threads like this will whither away and die as soon as we're on another 4 to 7 game win streak and blow the doors off another top tier team...again.
They will abandon the game threads again, and go back to the NBA and Other topics forums and the "other games to talk about that's not the Knicks game" thread.
It's okay. Tiring and repetitive, but it's okay. The Somberites provide a valuable service to those of us who actually enjoy being Knicks fans. They provide the service of just being them.
And for that, you've got to thank them.
