Morey is doing his job but the poison pill contracts he offered to Asik and Lin while not dirty business certainly makes him look a bit cut throat. Not a fan of how he took advantage of Walsh in the McGrady trade either. He is an interesting guy to hear interviewed. He wasn't an accomplished athlete, just a fan that wanted to get into sports. I think he got his break in baseball and ended up in basketball management.

Yeah, I don't get it.

If he were available in a year or two you know which fan base would clamor to get him hired

Not sure. I think very few here care about him.

I think Grunwald is doing a great job and has used scouting and his knowledge of the new cba to make some very smart moves. I think he sticks around for awhile. Amare is on the previous regime's resume.

Case in point I'll give you a recently hired exec where this was the case.....his name is Kevin Pritchard. He was laughed at for amassing all those picks supposedly 2kaying it during the draft every year but not doing anything with them. He got bounced by PDX I guess getting too big for his britches there. Then his name came up as a potential hire in Indiana and Knick fans wanted him snatched up in efforts to get young pieces back into this organization. Pacers hired him and now he's under The Don

Kind of how it works

I admire OKC for what they did and how they did it. Rockets also amassed assets to make a trade. A 23 year old.

Morey played within the rules.

What may be lost on some of you is the nature of cash flow that the Rockets entered into with a new sports channel and the high cash flow that will be coming to them. With Lin, they made an investment. They are doing it with young players with upside.

It may fail, or it may succeed.

KNicks don't mind paying for proven talent. They pay high salary and the price to gain in trade. Knicks don't like risk. It keeps the buzz going and ticket sales in the off season. They are exciting "on paper".

Can't blame one individual for this except Dolan because its his team.

Have a plan and stick to it.

Walsh is long gone. Isiah is long gone. Layden is long gone.

Dude Morey made a great deal. However, it was more luck than anything. If OKC wasn't being cheap Houston would still be sucking.

Luck: When opportunity and preparation collide!

OKC was not being "cheap", they were facing the economic reality of the new CBA. ITs more like the NFL now and harder to maintain a "dynasty" type run.

Maybe Morey and the rockets were "Patient". Why? Cuz players do shake loose from time to time.

Even with Lin, we had done enough scouting and the organization liked him from prior workouts and when he shook loose we gave him an opportunity.

There is no luck involved. Morey has a plan and he sticks to it. He got his team in position to acquire 3 players he targeted and came up with one of them. He was targeting Gasol, Dwight or Harden. You might disagree with his plan or way of business but you have to love his conviction in executing his plan. I also loved how he is man enough to accept blame when he makes a mistake.

We all laughed at Kahn. Injury bug got them bad but when Love comes back and if Rubio can get going again they could prove interesting this year. Not contend but get into the playoffs.

This despite his "Mistakes".

We laughed at Memphis giving away Pau but they set themselves up to make playoffs, get interesting and got team sold for a reasonable price.

We Laughed at the Nets.

We lauged at Miami when they cleared house.

We laughed at Clips who are respectable now.

Whats funny is they all laugh at us.

In the Harden press conference, Morey has indicated that he is going for another star player. They need a starting SF. Rudy Gay?

Morey is a sabermetrician. I highly doubt he'll go after Gay. Gay's win shares, wins produced, TS% and other stats are mediocre.

Who do you think he will target? Go big with LaMarcus Aldridge?

I think they are 8M under cap. They also have a slew of young PFs (Terence Jones, Patrick Patterson, Donatas Montiejunas, Greg Smith, Royce White).

I really like the direction that Morey is taking this team. They are 1 player and change of coach away from the WCF.

Isn't this the case often times with teams who let guys go? It comes down to dollars and cents. Did we acquire Amar'e and Melo by design or was it by chance?

OKC has ponied quite a bit of coin in the past 2 seasons and was trying to offer up more. Harden and his agent simply weren't buying it.

Morey wouldn't be the first GM who took advantage of the Knicks, can we say Masai Ujiri?
