Denver trading Melo means they get a 1 way ticket to lottery land. I assume they are in no rush unless a deal is a knockout deal.

I actually see Carmelo's value going up at the trade deadline. Once reality starts setting in for some teams they will be desperate to get him.

Doesn't his trade value almost entirely hinge upon whether he'll extend with said desperate teams???

I was referring to the Knick's really.

Walsh tries to play this too cool for school thing. The Jordan Hill trade to Houston rumors started in December. He just tried to wait around to the last minute until he had no choice but to make the deal.

Why would his value go up at the trade deadline? You mean if there's a rumour he's willing to extend with another team then we'd have to raise our offer? I could see that..

But if Melo doesn't show signs about seriously considering extending with anyone other than the Knicks doesn't that mean we have Denver by the balls?

You either lose him for nothing in a few months..or you settle for whatever we offer you.

What if DW is really too cool for school?

The way I see it Denver is going to get picks even if they wait until summer because they still own his bird rights. Any deal that is centered around Wilson Chandler is pointless for Denver. The picks are more valuable than Wilson. So really Denver doesn't have to settle for our offer because we will send them picks this summer anyway.

what picks did PHO get for Amare? Or Utah for Booz?

Carmelo Anthony denied that he has requested a trade and said he plans to keep his options open until the end of the season.

"I'm leaving my options open. At the end of the season, I'll sit down with my team, I'll sit down with the Nuggets," Anthony said.

"I've never said i wanted to be traded," he said. "I never once said anything about trade talk."

"I never once said anything about trade talk," Anthony said. "There's been a lot of speculation going on."

just what i wanted to hear.

If true, this changes everything.

I guess the madness stops at some point today.

Melo find his stones?

If he comes to the knicks at seasons end or Denver accepts Somthing far less, then it could be special in MSG.

The yoots are assets even if traded. You could get a third piece this way. Not saying we do, but we COULD>

Could, as in... "Please welcome the newest addition to the Knicks family, Chris Paul, playing point guard."

Potential starting unit next summer:

1: CP3
2: Azu (if still signed) or else ?
3: Melo
4: Stat
5: Moz (if he rocks) or AR

Can I get a hallelujah from the choir?

Phoenix didnt want to pay Amare.

Utah didnt want to pay Boozer.

Cleveland wanted to pay Lebron.

Toronto wanted to pay Bosh.

Denver wants to pay Carmelo.

Amare got a 5 yr deal.

Boozer got a 5 yr deal.

Lebron got a 6 yr deal.

Bosh got a 6 yr deal.

If Carmelo opts out he will get Max years because he cares about his money.

at the idea of Boozer or Amare getting 6 yr deals.

I think the press conferance they had in Denver is legit. Went on a Denver site and someone said Melo was in Uniform and said he is a Nugg and never said he wanted a trade.

I suppose the mainstream media will pick it up if legit.

If true, this kind of puts pause on everything.

Only thing I can see if Melo said no to the Russian. Hope he said thank you at least, maybe send him a gift for his mini Giraffe.

Melo tried his hand and didn't quite work out. IM sure its all been thougth thru and this was part of the plan.

As we said a few weeks ago, Denver has little leverage if Melo is willing to see it thru the season. He can walk.

If Donnie wants Melo, he'll make it happen on good terms.

I ask what did you expect him to do/say? You expected him to say he wants to be traded then get a nice fine from David Stern on media day?

The Nuggets didnt setup a 4 team trade for fun. Melo's "team" likely relayed the fact he wants to be traded. A player never needs to make trade demands because that is what he is paying his agent(s) to do.

An alternate scenario is the Nuggets could have simply said we cant get the deal hammered out before media day but we are still trying to trade you.

The season doesnt start for another 4 weeks guys.

As I said how do you come to that conclusion as the definitive answer. He could have said yes for all we know. At the end of the day Denver has to agree to the trade.

Remember it was reported that Denver was getting cold feet about trading Carmelo over the weekend.

I doubt Denver is setting up a 4 team trade for fun. You seriously believe Melo's team didn't give Denver's front office a list suitable teams all summer?

With an unofficial but very real deadline coinciding with the start of Nuggets media day and training camp, talks of a blockbuster trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the Nets picked up steam Monday, two people familiar with the negotiations told CBSSports.com.

One person briefed on the complicated, four-team talks described them as "moving along" after a weekend of inertia fueled by Denver's indecision about trading its franchise player and Anthony's desire to make sure he was doing the right thing by signing off on a deal to New Jersey.

"Talking and waiting," was how another person with knowledge of the negotiations described them.

On Sunday, a person connected to the talks told CBSSports.com that there was a "more than 50 percent chance" Anthony is traded in the next 24-48 hours. The momentum gained Monday bolstered that prediction, with most of the focus on the original framework of the deal also involving the Bobcats and Jazz.

As part of the scenario being discussed for weeks and tabled over the weekend while Denver executives strategized privately and sought other offers, the Nets would send No. 3 pick Derrick Favors and two first-round picks to Denver for Anthony. The Bobcats would get Devin Harris from New Jersey and send Boris Diaw to Utah, which could send Andrei Kirilenko and his $17.8 million expiring contract to Denver. Quinton Ross would go from New Jersey to Utah.

Carmelo reportedly didn't arrive in Denver until Sunday. He has a face to face with Masai earlier today too. Now they can proceed knowing there is no way Carmelo is staying in Denver.

Unless we plan on convincing Carmelo to take 1 less year of guaranteed salary then yes.

Well, I can breath easily for now. It would have been awesome to have Carmelo Anthony run the pick-and-roll with Amar'e Stoudemire and drop 40 on LeCon at the Garden but I guess I'll have to survive this season watching a 40 win team. : /

low expectations = you either get to be right or pleasantly surprised.

there's still a chance we sign him as a FA or get him at the deadline.

Anubis actually made a good point...if we sign him as a FA Melo's camp may demand a sign and trade so we can give him more years. If Melo really wants to be a Knick he might say screw a sign and trade let's make this squad as strong as possible. Also who knows how the new CBA will handle FA signings and sign and trades.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Uh, bleacher report is a site where fans write their opinion. This is an opinion. It's not reality.
