David Stern is an arrogant bastard, but if there were fixes, it would be more obvious. The Knicks would have won at least 1 lottery pick by now, when he in fact proved that he's not fixing the lotto. The Suns wouldn't have beaten the Lakers twice in a row, and they Suns would have beaten SA, when they had SHAQ. Not to mention that SA is one of the smallest markets out there, and their star does absolutely nothing special to market himself and the Spurs, besides from being a great player.

Also, don't you think that if the Lakers would have missed the playoffs a few years ago, they would have won the lottery too?

The one real questionable thing was the Heat beating the Mavs, which was when Donahey (Sp?) was the ref. However, don't you think that if Stern had his hand in that, he would have picked the Mavs to win, to increase the global marketing?

Also the one trade that was questionable was the Pao to Lakers trade, but it was obvious that maybe Jerry West was trying to help the Lakers out, which was messed up. Nothing Stern could have done, b/c the trade worked somehow.

I don't like Stern b/c he's so damn arrogant, but I don't believe there's conspiracy, as there usually isn't.

Anyone else hoping the Knicks can make a play for Ben Gordon? I realize his stat line only includes scoring and he's smallish, but the Knicks do need an off guard and they do need a guy who can hit the big ones

i think he'll get more than a MLE contract anyway, so we won't be able to get him regardless unless it's part of a sign & trade... if we could land him for Nate & our 2nd round player, i'm all for it, but that won't get it done.

Ben Gordon is tough as shyt. No joke. He's really opened my eyes against the Celtics

here's a question for u... let's say we get the #8 pick, Derozan is already off the board & the Bulls are willing to trade us Gordon for an expiring like Q Rich & our lottery pick, would u do it? or would u keep the pick & take Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry, Eric Maynor, Jeff Teague, or someone else?

Missed this post. Yeah, you know I dont believe in this draft so I would do that deal with the quickness. If we draft Curry for example, his absolute apex would be a notch or two below Gordon, IMO..so it would be an easy trade in my eyes.

lol @ Vitamin Water doing David Stern's bidding by ALREADY hyping up Lebron vs. Kobe. They're not even being shy right now about whats going on.

Utah better know whats good and just lay down, or they are going to get Sacramento King'ed in Game 6

seb u're picking up where playa was laying down on the conspiracy theories.

'Cause the NBA has had impeccable character and has been on the complete up and up over the years?

they had a rogue ref under stern's watch, that's for sure. but what else?

sacramento was not a clutch team. webber, bibby, peja and divac are not clutch. period. and even though LA is a glamour/ratings town and so were shaq/kobe/phil, the same could be said for the kings, who were the high-scoring "euro-style" darlings of the nba at that time. They may have even still had jwill then, I dont remember for sure.

and how about phoenix not getting a fix in the last few years. wouldnt stern have arranged that wouldnt that have been great for ratings and global appeal, as opposed to the boring spurs?

Sometimes fixes have to do with the betterment of the league and sometimes is just because of good ol' fashioned Vegas money.

And another thing, are you really buying the "rogue ref" spin? Donaghy claimed that he was working in concert with the NBA and Stern's wishes. He's on record as saying that the Kings/Lakers game 6 was in fact, fixed.

reffing is an issue in the nba, and star players have always gotten better calls, but one rogue ref does not mean the entire league is fixed everywhere.

how come the knicks still haven't gotten the #1 pick?

someone posted a recent blog about how small market teams are overwhelmingly against refs, and think the entire league is fixed.

why does lebron wind up in cleveland? oden in portland, duncan on san antonio?

as for the bad reffed suns-spurs game, you're telling me that the nba wanted the spurs over the suns in the finals?

now gambling is DEFINITELY a reason that games could be fixed, as we saw with donaghy.

the ata (pro tennis) was found by HBO Real Sports to not be doing much at all about even more egregious examples of top seeded PLAYERS actually throwing games (for a long list of reasons), but the main cause is due to ONLINE GAMBLING.

The point is, it's not so much the ability of the NBA trying to get the teams they want what they want, but HUGE sums of money being gambled, and potentially winding up involved in the outcomes of games.

i think i'd rather have Jennings than Gordon to tell u the truth... i think Gordon's a very good bad shot maker & a supremely dynamic scorer when he's got it going, but he can also completely shoot you out of a game too, much like Jamal used to do... i would really like to see what a kid w/Jennings' ability can do as our starting PG, & i'm really sick of having undersized SG's on this team.

Donaghy could be lying, or Stern could be lying. Who knows. But I know this, I have seen more than enough evidence with, my own eyes, to create enough reasonable suspicion over the integrity of the league and Stern. I'm not just taking a wild suspicion and running with it like Playa did on the reg.

The NY stuff is just West Coast bias. Cali hates NY, and still thinks Stern has it out for us, when its clear that the Lakers are his glamour team.

I'm not going to lie, I dont know jack about Jennings...but if we adjust our free agent plan from '10 to '11-'12 that may allow for more youngsters with upside as opposed to win now players.

i don't know all that much about him either... i'm going off scouting reports & highlight clips like most other people... i think i do know all i need to know about Ben Gordon tho, & at this point i'd go for the hype & projected upside over the established reality of what we already know Ben Gordon is as a player... he's good but i don't think he's the answer to fill what this team is looking for.

Shaq said the game was called funny. That's more than enough for me.

The worst part about the 2002 Western Conference Finals is that the NBA follow up that with the Lakers/T-Wolves 2003 1st round. Where the T-Wolves outplayed the Lakers but got no calls and the Lakers were presented with phantom calls. Even Mike and the Mad Dog called out Stern on that one which prompted Stern to call into their show. The calls were so ridiculous in game 3 that even Laker fans were saying how they believe the fix is in.

Yikes at that one-handed pass by Miller. Bulls can snatch their heart if they keep their head. Its theirs to lose.
