Back when Richie Guerin, Carl Braun, Kenny Sears, Willie Naulls and Ray Felix were the starting five with Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton coming off the bench. My allowance was five bucks a week and I could get into the "Old" Garden for fifty cents and my G.O. card so you know I saw a lotta games. Snuck down to the better seats when we could and got to sit behind Walter Dukes one night when we played George Yardly and Detroit. Think Dukes was injured or sumpin' that night.

Do you recall when the Knicks actually practiced in the city? Some old heads tolds me they used to practice at place called BBR (Boys Brotherhood Republic) on the lower east side. BBR was like a Boys clubs.

ha. there's a bar in my neighborhood called BBR and it stands for blonde brunette and redhead - they promise one of each behind the bar whenever they're open.

In the 1970s (and perhaps even earlier), I know they practiced at Pace University, near police headquarters in lower Manhattan.

Wow, it's good to see that you guys still post this type of stuff.

Patrick Ewing guest starring on "Webster" in his rookie year and helping him slam dunk. Funniest thing ever.

Climb up on my knee Sonny Boy and I'll tell you tales of Bob Cousy, Bill Russell and Paul Arizin back when the NBA was young and Wilt was at the Garden playing with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Watching "This Week in Baseball" with Mel Allen when it was in its infancy. It aired every Sunday afternoon on Channel 11, usually at 1:30, a half hour before the Yankee game.

It was easily the best 30 minutes of my week. This was before ESPN, so there was not much baseball on TV, and there was no "Baseball Tonight," so getting a half-hour highlight show was a huge novelty.

When night games at Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium started at 8 p.m. and were usually over by 10:30 p.m.

When it was considered absolutely spectacular for a player to hit .324 with 35 homers and 145 RBIs, or to hit .352 with 31 HRs and 113 RBIs -- which is what Donnie Baseball did in 1985 and '86.

When hitting a mid range jumpshot, or passing in the low post or boxing out seemed like things everyone in the NBA could do.
