Yes it is, oh wait its been done before, oh crap same guy involved too.

In 1978, the Nuggets traded Bobby Jones, a player Brown loved, for the George McGinnis, a player that epitomized everything Brown detested - a scorer who did not fit into Brown's team concept. The team stumbled around .500 (28-25) before Brown was fired. Donnie Walsh stepped in and the team went on to win 19 of their remaining 29 (.655) and make the playoffs. Hmm... I wonder why the team responded so well to Brown's exit.

It's all rumor, but think about it. Your owner is thinking about foregoing a coaching search to find a new long-term search because he wants to save money and put Isiah in a dual role.
You don't seriously buy that media spin, do you? This organization has never been concerned about spending money. Anyting's possible but it looks much more like Isiah is trying to save his job and he and Dolan agreed that it would make a better, more credible story to say they're saving money than to say they think Isiah is the best man to replace Larry Brown. They could avoid spending more money and avoid having to implement a dual role by promoting Herb to coach. But they *want* Isiah coaching.

You need to get over yourself. I don't care if Thomas is there are not, I don't have agenda like you and others. If Dolan would have fired Thomas and kept Brown on, I would be just as worried. I for one don't want Brown to go because I know he stunk up the joint on purpose. I want him to earned every single last cent.

Can anyone seriously seriously tell me that since Marbury was brought here he has been in a position to truly succeed. Like win 50 games and get passed the first rd of the playoffs. I could say the only time was when Houston was here. And all crashed when he got hurt.

Lets start with the playoffs vs the Nets in which Houston was completly done. They doubled Marbury non stop, Shandon Anderson was the SG, Collins knocked Tim Thomas fugazy and out of the playoffs. The knicks were completely overmatched by a way better team who was hungry to become the local favorite team. Lets not forget that the Knicks were competitive the last 2 home games though after being blown out the first 2 without Houston & Tim Thomas.

Last season I think the coaches did a good job. Both Wilkens & Herb. But I don't feel that the roster was good enough truthfully to get to that level we thought we could get to. Sure we had a lot of hype. But that was ALL based on potential. The potential of Tim Thomas being a 18-6 guy causing mismatches with his inside outside game. The potential of Allan Houston coming back from his injury and doing what he does as well as giving us leadership. The potential of Crawford coming off the bench completing the Marbury-Houston backcourt given us a combo guard with an all around offensive game. The potential of Sweentey becoming a force in the paint with the flashes he showed his rookie season. The potential of Hardaway providing depth at SF and becoming a contributer. Even the potential of Vin Baker behind Muhammad at center continueing the decent play he showed in the playoffs. None of them reached the potential that we set out for them. Some blame Marbury for that. But in truth we expected to much. We also couldn't afford injury, but it happends. And the injury to Crawford killed us. Without the worst month in Knicks basketball history after Crawford goes down & Houston's body breaks down and Hardaway already done. Sweetney getting injured(4games). We would have probably won 40 or more games. Which is in line with what the roster was. We also lost a ton of close games. If you want to blame Marbury for not putting the team on his back caring them through that stretch & for not taking over the close games. Your entitled to do so. Marbury did play great but he didn't play perfect. But if you wanna say that we underachieved last season because of Marbury then I don't agree. Yes we wanted 45wins and out of the first rd. But we forgot the mention that everything needed to go close to PERFECT for that to happen. Or if nothing Houston coming back healthy.

This season we swapped Muhammad, KT, Tim Thomas, Sweetney for Eddie Curry, Q, who both had injury problems and struggled though they were counted on to produce big time. Curry did show flashes for a half though. And we added M.Rose. We wasted money on Jerome James who did nothing for us when we could have used the money on someone who could acually acually have helped the team. Brought in 3 rookies, and brought in/back 3-4 NDBL and guys. Expected way to much of Ariza. With a coach that is successful with a roster completely different from the one he needs to be successful. We then add Jalen Rose & Francis to the bunch not to make the team better but to make moves for the future. So many new players and new system to get adjusted. If given the time he could grow in the system though. Even though player changes were bound to happen as well. Now we are going to scrap that and go a different direction again. So far in his time in NY has Marbury seriously in position to succeed here???

We all know Marbury wasn't perfect. He of course has his flaws on and off the court. He isn't one of those "coaches dream" type players. And with all eyes on him in the biggest media in the business. Him not being a perfect little soldier has made people look away from that stuff. But if you were to look at the bigger picture. Since the arrival of Marbury the Knicks are a victim of overhype and lack of patience. I know I bought into it. Us knicks fans are allowed to do that though. Managment isn't.

For all of the LB apologists, get over it. Your guy stunk this year. 23 wins is a laughingstock. And for those who say 40 wins and a first round exit in the playoffs next year with Isiah isn't the answer, guess what? You are supposed to try to win every game in professional sports. Someone forgot to tell Larry this during the current year. And if you want a guy to instill some long term solution, LB isn't the answer anyhow. He is sixty five years old with health problems. He is a cantankerous old curmudgeon bent on self destruction. There is no five year plan with him. Wrong hire, wrong time. Maybe if LB was ten years younger and less headstrong. Now that he finally has his ONE NBA title, he is even less willing to compromise and be openminded. My way or the highway. Enjoy the ride out of town LB. Enjoy coaching in Sacramento next year. I am sure Ron Artest will be a picnic.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

NY Times - An Eastern Conference executive, who was granted anonymity because he was not authorized to talk about another team's decisions has told Howard Beck that he had spoken with Knicks officials on Monday, who said that Larry Brown's dismissal was a certainty. The executive also confirmed that Thomas, at the direction of the ownership, planned to replace Brown.

Knicks officials continued to decline to comment.

Marbury hasn't been on the best teams here but he has been given every opportunity to excel here. Lenny was a coach who's hire was taylored for Steph. The KT-Marbury-Thomas Knicks was Taylored to Steph's pick and roll abilities and he led us to a .500 record with infighting in the locker room. To Zeke he had to try a new approach.

Then Zeke brings in all these dynamic offensive players and he brought in LB to teach them defense. He did what the exact opposite of what the Pistons did this season. They brought in a free-flowing offensive coach to loosen the reigns on a predominantly defensive team. Zeke brought in a defensive coach to give these offensive players more depth.

Marbury was given every chance to show he could lead a team, but maybe not in the ideal circumstances to win, but in NY there are no ideal circumstances to win.

As much as I've defended brown, and will continue to against players choosing to quit and rebel, at this point i think it's time for him to go and for isiah to coach.

The way the Knicks organization has handled the brown situation has been so woeful that I think it's past repair. Like Bippity, one of the reasons I've supported brown to the extent that I have was to restore credibility to the ranks of coaches that isiah has eroded during his term: Humiliating Chaney with a security escort in front of cameras like a common thief; Leading fratello to the threshold of the garden only to leave him at the altar at the last moment; no assistants for Lenny, perching over his shoulder from the tunnel, coming into the locker room to ream the team for gutless play while leaving lenny feeling without authority to discipline Marbury; etc.

With the hiring of a disciplinarian and then lending him his support by saying players must adapt to the coach or be traded I felt Isiah took a major step in the right direction by empowering his coach and putting players on notice.

Now if management felt that Brown also needed to be held accountable and that HE needed to be put on notice I understand that, but that should have been done privately. But the way the exit interviews were conducted and now publicly exposing their displeasure with Brown has already undermined his authority with the players and set the entire process back to square one. Back to HOF coaches having to live u to Isiah's inflated vision of himself as coach, and back to players having dominion over the coach's authority. Brown may have shot himself in the foot, but the organization did not put him in a cast, they put him in a coffin.

Isiah needs to coach because it he can not be allowed to rottissiere stores of coaches like Boston Market cooks chickens. He be allowed to continue to throw players and coaches against the wall to see who sticks. Dolan trusts Isiah but putting Isiah on the bench says "I trusted you, now show me my trust was deserved."

If nothing else it'll get isiah out of the tunnel perch and off the coach's back. In fact we'll actually have a coach with authority not being undermined by his superiors.

It's not about stats and win loses, it's how he conducts himself and how his teams respond to him. You always trump out the injuries and the like to explain away the loses, but it never explains away the divided locker rooms, the ridiculous public pronouncements, the lack of team chemistry, and the eventual disenchantment with him by coaches and GMs. His win/loss record may certainly take a hit from injuries and the like, but they have little to do with why he gets moved as frequently as he does.

The same way Brown handled things privately!? The same way Brown went out of his way to undermine the value of HIS players and to write verbal love letters to every opposing player after they kicked our butts......Please, the fact that this situation is there for public consumption is exactly what Uncle Junior (I mean Brown) deserves.

They wait until Larry has surgury and recouping before they "leak" this news?

Slimball organization. Meet the man, tell him to his face you want him gone and work out a deal. Leaking info is dumb.

Dolan is a wuss thru and thru.

Isiah is a wuss. Times article said this morning that Brown wants Starbury, Francis, JJ, Jailen and either Mo t or nate traded. Seems to me Brown covered for the Jailen and Francis trade. So while Larry wanted new players, Isiah goes out and gets more crap. I can't say I would cry over losing any of those players. Maybe nate a bit, but just cus I like him.

ANd I what your looking at was elevating the rookies whom seem to get it more and more.

The one time we get a chance to right this organization and point it in the right direction we cower down and bow to the Starphuching ways of instant gradification.

This is not just about larry, its been going on for years and years.

it's fine by me if you want to be vindictive. But my point was that the organization might have managed the situation better (than Brown, if you like), put Brown in line, and kept the marriage together. But having NOT done so, the situation is now irrepairible, IMO. A publicly emasculated Brown is no different than a Chaney, Lenny or Herb.

It's ova'. Brown is history here, whether I like it or not.

You know at this point I'd almost like to see IT take over and crash and burn so I can laugh at your ignorant arses who think this team is better then a 30 win team as constructed. I really wonder who will still showup and who will go on a Hardcore type sabatical untill a long enough winning streak in garbage time of the season.

I kinda of agree here. BUt it means rooting against the team.

One thing is Isiah is going to do a few trades so we can get excited one more time and be a 40 win team and Isiah will look good.
