Bad offense tonight, but our offense has been bad thus far anyway, so no real surprises there. Reason we lost so badly was the inexplicably bad D. We come into the game ranked #3 in defensive efficiency and we can't guard anyone, anywhere on the court. Not jumpers, not drives, not postups, couldn't even get to the defensive boards. And you can't lay that on any one player-- the whole team, as a unit, just stunk it up on D in every which way. Ugly.

Why should Frye be covering the three point line? if that's your plan on defense, you're going to get beat on the perimeter every night in this league.

Much as I hate to say it, DLee killing us tonight. BOX OUT, son.

Why does Frye only have two shot attempts in the second half? Why does Larry Brown's offense find the open man who can't shoot? To quote Scott Skiles, "I'm pretty Larry Brown invented basketball, I'm pretty sure of that." (Skiles was being sarcastic and so am I)

We miss Curry's easy buckets in the paint too. We need to find our scorers on the offense instead of the wide open Malik Roses, David Lees, Jackie Butlers and Antonio Davises. You have to keep going to your scorers to get them going.

I assume your talking in general. I missed the game but the box score shows:

Butler 2 for 5
Davis 2 for 4
Lee 0 for 0
Rose 4 for 6

So that (at least from the box) doesn't look like a problem. THe knicks shot 47% which isnt' bad. But they got crushed on the boards.

BTW...not for nothing, wallace's handle was similar to Reezy's, if he can improve, anybody can.

I also told you guys that if Wallace played the knicks would be in trouble......he has come through. Gerald with 5 ****ing threes? Maybe the guys that are guarding him need to go out back with the refs!

Keyword: Was

Wallace always could finish and drive with break neck speed........do you believe the mofo can shoot now?

This is Brown.......David Lee comes in when the game is out of control in the 3rd quarter. So when do we start chanting fire Brown?

LB on Crawford:
"He's more of a highlight reel than a point guard right now"

But he backed off:
"it's not all Jamal, we've got to blah blah blah"

rvhoss:
Trust me, 5 TO, 4 points...we expect atleast 10 from jamal...it was a large part jamal.

LB:
"We got it to 11 and forced them into a bad shot, [but didn't box out] early enough in the 4th."

Brown: Isiah, get me some backcourt help
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I don't think LB even considers Craw to be a point guard in the making.

I am speaking in general. It just seems like the offense is set up solely to find the open man, not to work specific scorers and get them the ball where they are comfortable. Why not run more pick and rolls with Frye and Marbury? Why not work with Q more? Why not let Jamal do more? You're telling me Rush shut down Jamal? I don't know, the offense would work with five guys who can score like in Detroit where even Ben Wallace is a decent threat, but when the sum result of your offense has Jackie Butler and Malik Rose working on the baseline as the game is slipping out of reach, something is not working.

It's LB's offense that finds the open man, the problem was turnovers and rebounding. We had a bunch of open looks, but looking at the box score you should see the number of shots (they took 24 more). I'm talking butter fingers from Reezy, rooks, etc.

The problem was 2nd chance points, and open 3's.

it's not butter fingers, it's boxing out and yes that was the main reason they lost it. but they also left gerald wallace as open as can be.

but to me, the most disappointing part about the lose is you have a team that cannot stop you and instead of feeding Marbury and Frye and Q and Craw, you let them dictate that Malik Rose gets the shot because Malik is open. Frye and Marbury should have had 23 shots each, not total. The defense sucked, but Charlotte got a lot of confidence from the stops they got on us.

Ariza been blowing open DUNKS which is frustrating as hell and one has to think confidence is definatly a factor in that. He didn't miss much open dunks last year as far as I remember. He's also seen his time diminish which I'm sure is an added pressure. Craw went through it (STILL IS)so did marbs as far as finding their place in the team. Bad performance from him & crawford today. He needs to get himself together and just do the best he can and I know he'll be fine.
