Well, as possitive as the final score is (for being close) and the rookies not having bad games, that third quarter was pathetic. Thake the great first half out and we lost this game by 12 points...

I think he will be during the regular season when hes healthy, anyway I hope during the next preseason game larry's starting lineup is crawford, nate, ariza, lee, and fyre and that they play up tempo. i dont know if anyone else has noticed this but everytime that unit is on the court and play up tempo the knicks are extremely effective, even more so than when marbury is on the court

Don't give up fans, our rotation is not yet set. We need continuity at certain positions, and hopefully things will alright...

The rookies executed well, they must learn to box out, they were used to jumping over everyone in collge, the pros is a different story...

Thats what worries me the most. If we are really aiming at having a strong season, it will be them and not the rooks that will have to carry us there, and they looked pretty bad today...

Crawford looked great IMO. Still took a couple bad shots but really played hard on D and helped on the glass. What did he finish with? 7 boards? 8? There was one sequence where he played Terry tough, then went into traffic for the rebound. LB called a time and you could see LB go right to Crawford, say "good job" and give him a high five. Pretty cool

it becomes clear to me now that jerome james is not an "impact" player

good point fish and craw also hit a big shot late and gave frye a nice pass late in the game, lee and ariza had a nice give and go as well as frye and ariza. Nate played fearless late, I love that guy.... but craw did a good job running the team late, and when he realizes that he can take the ball to the hoop at will, he will be better...

Marb, Q, Ariza or Lee, Davis or Frye, and Curry should be our starting lineup...Larry is waisting time by experimenting with our rotation. I am sorry, the more time we use playing that lineup is the better the chemistry will be....Crawff can run the show, but he is best suited for the second string

I would not say that so quick, look at where the mavs operated during the first half, On the perimeter, his length caused prolems, he had a block early, and changed a lot of shots, that is what we need from him...

I think this is going to stop once regular season comes. Larry Brown will drill into Crawford's head what is a good shot and bad shot. Otherwise from that last shot, great game. Nate/Frye/Lee area impressive

Boy, I saw a lot to be excited about. People can rip Marbury all they want but he played tenacious D and he's learning a different way to play. Likewise Craw. Those two played hard and will adjust. I saw every Knick think d tonight and I can't remember the last time I saw that.

The rooks and Ariza are really, really impressive and will grow by leaps and bounds. I thought Mo Taylor was really buying into the program.

It looked to me like they are doing the work and I think we are likely to see rapid improvement.

to me, mo taylor played selfish at times, refusing to pass the ball until he got into deep trouble, he was upsetting me all night long...

vdfebduderock's player by player analysis

Marbury: Good 1st half, but looked lackadaisical in 2nd. Too many foolish passes which helped Dallas cut lead. Some poor decisions there also
Craw: Good game. He made some good shots. If his 3 point shot was more accurate, then the team couldv'e used him in clutch. Good rebounding and assists today. Didn't lose the ball too much. Still needs to work on shot.
Nate: Good game, but seriously needs to slow down. He turned the ball over too many times. Some of the offensive fouls were made because he wanted to shoot over everyone. Defense wasn't atrocious, but could use some work. Will have to learn to shoot more pull up jumpshots. We saw him show his range today, just needs to do it consistently.
Ariza: Good shooting game also, and defense was decent, especially when getting charges. Rebounding and hustle were there today. It was great for him to play great D with the steals and dunks. Also, i liked that he attacked the basket. However, he should work on FTs, ball handling, not being too aggressive on D, and developing jumpshot. He can't attack all the time. In the end, good game.
AD: Good game for him. He did a good job getting the rebounds, playing D, positioning himself on offense, and scoring. He was lackadaisical in 2nd half, but he stil had a good game.
Frye: Good game, but I wish he was on the floor more. He has to watch his fouls. He gets too many offensive fouls and the 2nd quarter killed him. His offensive touch was there, minus the blocked dunk. His rebounding needs lots of work as he's getting overworked on the boxout. Should block more shots, but he was fine.
Lee: tough game for him. He worked hard in the 4th, but there was no rhythm. No shots would go down. This is what will happen if u don't have a polished offensive game and mid range shot. Needs more efficiency scoring in paint. He reminds me of Weatherspoon grabbing his missed shots from the paint and struggling to score. Free throw shooting bothers me the most.
Mo: Good game for him. He played good D and had a great offensive game. He also grabbed a handful of boards.
Curry: Good offensive game, and good that he had 2 blks, but there were times that I thought he wasn't focusing. He didn't grab rebounds on offensive and defensive end, let Howard and Daniels steal his rebounds, and shot poorly from the line.
James: I don't know why the team runs plays for him on the offensive end. He's a decent defender, but needs to go to Aguirre's boot camp to learn how to score in the post. He couldn't make anything.
The Refs: were horrible. They called numerous offensive fouls for the heck of it. Many bad calls today.

I will agree about the refs, they were a joke as usual, but lee reminding you of spoon has to stop... Lee has no problem getting his shot off, since he has a lot of lift, the problem is learing to gather himself better and getting off a better shot in traffic, he can go over people and score with either hand, he just needs to compose himself a bit better..

The good thing about the rooks is they keep playing d. They all have to smooth out their offense and boxing out, but kids who've already committed to d can pick that stuff up fast. They all have good hands, so shooting and boarding etc, shouldn't be a long term problem.

Lee just needs to practice his touch around the basket. Get more english on the ball, use the backboard better. I think he's pressing a little. If there's a technical problem Aguirre should be able to fix it.

That lineup at the end of the game was a nice glimpse into the future. W/L doesn't mean much in the preseason. AFter a pretty disastrous third it was nice to see the young guys provide the cohesiveness and stability down the stretch to get back in the game.

Anyway, if there is one guy who has really made strides this year its Trevor Ariza. He's just so much more confident and under control this year. No more wildly throwing up shots against the backboard. He has a real idea of what he wants to do right now. His rebounding ability and defense is fantastic for the 3. I think it's becoming obvious that he should start at the SF. He brings the nice complementary skills that the starting lineup needs.
