Or finish as a laker?

Lakes and him should really think about this long and hard. Its nice to go out gracefully but if not its hell for both team and player. Lakers looked so good on paper to start the season.

Kobe in Philly with bynum. "coming home"? In Bkn for a starphuch? (iso Joe and Marshon for Kobe) Or somehow a knick? I don't know if I even want him on the knicks as he and Melo could be toxic (on the court).

Just thinking out loud.

Denver needs a gunner, Lakers need some yoots....

Denver does not need kobe.. what they need is a guy like Garnett.... they can score plenty of points.. they need a guy , like garnett, a veteran leader they can lean on.. they have miller, but he doesn't start, and KG still plays at such a high level, especially emotionally.....

They need a closer ...A guy to step up and put them over the top...Garnett ain't it..But who cares anyway...

i KEEP hearing that....they close as a team, I keep hearing this team needs a closer.. a closer can come in many forms, defense, offense, rebounding.... closing out games is more than going iso and chucking up shots... Denver has 4 guys who have already shown they can make big shots.. gallo has hit as many big shots for that team as any other player for their team.. Andre miller has closed out games at the line, ty lawson has closed out games, heck now even wilson chandler is taking big shots in games and hitting them.... All of this depending on one guy is not some guaranteed recipe.. classic example yesterday? who was our closer? what happened?

Denver doesn't have a closer as you say, yet they have just as many wins as we do... go figure..

and 4 more losses.

sure, we can maybe account that being in a tougher conference as well.. again, there is no evidence that points to them needing this "closer" when they have success closing out games as a team.... right now without this "closer" they have the same amount of wins that the knicks do...

they've been on the road the first half of the season more than most other teams. and they have had more back-to-backs thus far too. i'd say they are doing just fine and should probably have an even more successful second half.

meanwhile the east has tightened up and the knicks simply have to win the division and get a second seed. there's a lot of gelling that still needs to happen because if the knicks are still lacking continuity as the season progresses it is going to spell doom in the playoffs.

but hey we have a "closer" so that should ultimately be the difference-maker...

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Hearing some grumblings that Dwight is being shopped again. Wish Morey would get into that and trade Asik, Lin, Greg Smith and TJones. The duo of Harden and Dwight would remind a lot of people of Shaq and Wade.

Not sure if it's in the Rockets interest to trade Asik or Lin as they are BYC.

Wolves coach Kevin McHale, not an X's and O's type of guy
By J.E. Skeets

Our quote of the day comes from Nuggets vet Anthony Carter, a former Timberwolves guard, who tells Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News that recycled Minnesota coach Kevin McHale should "be a lot better" this time around.
"It was a learning experience," said Carter, who will see McHale and the Timberwolves on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center. "He didn't really know all the X's and O's, but he had a good assistant coaching staff that was helping him out with a lot of plays. He kind of let us run whatever we wanted.
"He was trying to draw plays, and it was like a little Etch and Sketch. Like a kid just messing around. ... He just gave the clipboard to the assistant coaches sometimes."
An Etch A Sketch! So THAT explains how the Wolves beat the Cavs in '05. They employed George Vlosich.

They really need to get rid of McHale.

Getting fired after losing your daughter is going to be tough to stomach

Does that mean he gets a free pass for 1 year? Getting fired as NBA coach is not like us getting fired. I am sure he still gets paid.

Well over the years having a closer was a recipe for success...Kobe has been a closer in his career and has 5 rings to show for it...Bron struggled closing and wasn't able to get over the hump but closed out a few games last year leading to a ring...U can mock the value of a closer but it's proven...Jordan has 6 rings and closed out the Knicks, Cleveland, Detriot,Portland, the Fakers in many playoff games...Ewing not so good and the finger roll miss against Indy to lose game 7 is forever etched in my memory...So a closer don't mesh with today's metrics brand of basketball..I hope Denver feels that way and continues to get closed out by a gunner in the playoffs...I'll take a closer until clutch shots by committee is the proven way to go...Indy, Reggie Miller was a closer...Killed us many nights...

P.S....I just happy a hand full of you guys are no where close to making basketball decisions for this organization...

Kobe has closed out some foes such as Spurs and Suns but overall Kobe hasn't done that much closing in the playoffs. He's been absolutely ATROCIOUS in the Finals. Matter of fact one of his rings post Shaq in terms of closing was by the doing of Artest and Gasol. I believe his first chip post Shaq was because of the closing of Fisher and Ariza and even during the Shaq era.....HORRY/FISHER/SHAW/FOX had moments of closing out games....

It's really overrated unless you're referring to someone like Jordan who even had guys like Paxon/Kerr closing out games. I just went through a list of names all NON SUPERSTAR/MAX CAT which drives the point home.

Horry closed out a few too...Well it's silly to take it as every game played was closed out by a particular person but are u really going to agrue about Jordan as a closer???..Or Larry Bird???..Really???

When you are double and triple teamed, you pass the ball and let others close.

Kobe got 5 rings. He can close.

Eddie Curry has 1 ring. I guess that means he is a closer.

Kobe can close but he has also failed miserably at times.

you raise a good point... seems like they don't need a closer so much as a veteran leader. i have questions about iggy's role on that team. garnett would be a great fit on that team.

yea, Iggy is kind of confusing me now, but I think he will be ok..he just needs to relax and play his game.. at times he seems to try to do too much, but denver doesn't need that.. a vet like garnett would make them trouble in the west.. real trouble... right now they will be a handful as constructed..

WOW Kobe just WOW!

This from Yahoo....

On the issue of Howard's belief that the ball simply doesn't go through him enough on offense, Bryant rejected the premise.

"I've tried to go out of my way to get him the ball," Bryant told Y! Sports. "Sometimes I end up looking like an idiot, because I get up in the air, I've got a shot, but I try to find him. But he thinks I'm going to shoot, so his back is turned. I'm trying to think about getting him the ball a lot – take care of him as much as I possibly can. It takes me out of rhythm a little bit, but I'm fine with that. If that's going to help our team, I'm more than willing to do that."

When Howard did get the ball on Monday, he missed four of eight free throws. He let the Bulls strip him. He missed three of his five shots. His aggression seems to come and go, on offense and defense. Perhaps it's the back; perhaps it's something else.

"I've constantly tried to help him out, tried to talk to him," Bryant said. "Two o'clock in the morning, three o'clock in the morning. Texting him. Sharing reading materials. Anything to try and help him.

"He's coming off a major surgery in a market where it's just merciless; where there's demands and responsibilities of athletes. It's been tough on him."

not sure why your saying wow, but it's true, Howard looks completely lost(which way did he go) lost
