Johnny just makes too much sense. He worked with Rick and is probably cool keeping him on as well.

based on absolutely nothing but wild speculation, I am assuming something very challenging is going on in Malone's universe -- e.g., sudden firing in Denver.

Also if the FO wanted to see double bigs he’s a guy that just helped coach Mobley and Allen to 64 wins. Only a few teams in the league running double bigs and he was on one of them.

You and Bryant need to GET A ROOM! And discuss off ball stuff.

Yeah, Atkinson is still employed by the Cavs. I don't know why they wouldn't hold on to him. He would have been my #1 choice if we departed from Thibs last season.

My bets:
* Johnnie Bryant - returning after a year with Atkinson. He'd give us the tools to counter Cleveland and get some of Atkinson's tricks back on our team. He also wouldn't mind keeping Brunson Sr on his staff.

* Mike Wilks - assistant coach with OKC. He'd bring some insight on how a big rival/top team does things... and give us some new ways to play small-ish ball.

* Lloyd Pierce - assistant coach with the Pacers. He'll share some of the secrets that have unlocked the Pacers' mastery over the Knicks in the playoffs and help us get more out of our bench. (though he did not have a good run with the Hawks as head coach, and was a big part of why John Collins was disgruntled)

* Mike Budenholzer - makes a lot of sense with the Giannis rumors. (The fascinating question is what would the Bucks want from the Knicks or any other team for Giannis?)

Similar philosphy....I think the Knicks want a young, innovative coach, thats creative and adaptive. Bryant makes the most sense to me.

Maybe

they may be similar in old school style but not approach. Malone showed how to win centered around a center; Thibs has seemed to favor backcourt with centers being the anchor for defense (KAT being the exception).

between espn and tnt the only people I like are Breen and Harlan. Reggie has been trying really hard to be objective but still fails.

everyone else including shaq and chuck can retire at this point.

I’m a huge fan of Monica McNutt. I’d replace SAS with her all day. She’s an actual fan. Would miss her on the game calls though.

I want her to replace Clyde when he retires

First half os the seson, for a month, we were racking up 30 plus assists per. There was a stretch where the ball was moving, the players were cutting, some were saying that Kat had some Joker like passing skills (no to that level but you get the point)....then all of a sudden, it stopped. The offense got super stagnant and we defualted to iso-ball and your turn my turn. Johnny Bryant, your the next constestant to stalk the sidelines of MSG....come on down!!!

Wonder if Johnny Bryant left when they gave Thibs the extension and he felt like his chance as the successor was gone

True, though to be fair both of those guys are pretty good defensively

but I agree, key issue, is making the most out of your players and we have a LOT of really good ones

Man I’m kinda bummed because by all means thibs did a great job running this organization. I hate saying this but he was out coached by Rick Carlisle, and honestly we should have beat the pacers we have way more talent in our starting five alone. We beat the green monster to lose to a mediocre pacers roster . I can see how that could be a fireable offense. We have no excuse for losing to that team .

I wanna thank thibs for bringing the Knicks back! His years brought a lot of joy back to watching Knicks basketball, something I haven’t felt since the Ewing years. I think I speak for most Knicks fans Thank You TOM !

Now

Would the Knicks name Rick Brunson the next head coach lol

Or Jay Wright the v boys college coach

That’s who my money is on.

Mike Malone no way we should just keep thibs they are basically the same.

I would love to see what
could do with this roster on offense . Maybe he could turn Tyler Kolec into the next Nash but off the bench lol

And our 3 pt defense has been one of the worse in the league all year with no appreciable improvement.

He made way too many fundamental mistakes. The final nail in the coffin must have been when the very bench is never played all season was the only reason we lasted as long as we did vs the Pacers. The fact he got KAT the best 5 out big in league history and NEVER even gave 5 out a chance is a fireable offense. He made so many mistakes that should not happen. There was no other way this could play out. How do you go the whole season starting our worst lineup and never try anything else until the ECF???

You talk about the guy like he is completely inept as a coach....that's why you come across as having something personal against Thibs. He was pretty successful in NY in spite of what you say and his flaws.....and we ALL have flaws. It might have been time to move on from Thibs and try something different...but it wasn't due to coaching ineptitude as you continue to try and spout. The guy lives, breaths and will go to his deathbed everything basketball. He's lifer....all in....not sitting on his fat ass wasting time on social media hurling anonymous insults about how other hard working people suck at their craft. Thibs did an excellent job helping to bring this franchise back from the very bottom to near the top. Just my opinion but it's ok to celebrate thst even without a Chip, I wish him well and move forward to the next Knicks coach. However you seem like the guy who badmouths the guy in the coffin at his funeral....and then if challenged claim "its not personal"...just your opinion.

Being a former super agent, Leon has a lot of contacts. If there is an under the radar hire, an NBA assistant. From college, or overseas. I’m for the FO taking a chance on someone who hasn’t had an opportunity to be a head coach in the NBA.

I remember watching Joe Maddon’s press conference after he was hired as TB Rays Manager. Had this clearly articulated vision. Very upbeat positive. I remember it because he turned the Rays into perennial contenders on the lowest payroll in the league. In a ****ty stadium.

Maddon had been around the game for decades. But his positivity was like a breath of fresh air. That’s what we need to see in the locker room. A new voice, maybe less traveled in the head coaching ranks.

If it is to be a former coach, coach Bud, not sure Vogel still has it, as far as keeping a locker room together. Bryant getting the gig would be ok as well IMO.

The more I think about it, it probably has to be Dan Hurley. I don’t think you throw away Thibs for an untested coach. Or a re-tread. But Hurley would basically directly address the complaints listed in the news. Knowing their role. Modern offense. Uses big men. But also builds on the grit and toughness that is this team’s identity. I’m pretty sure it is Hurley. He’s not looking at 3 peat history. Another down season and his stock is down. He’s the guy that makes sense. They would know it was Hurley and would leak that players didn’t know their roles. It’s one of Hurley’s trademarks. Everyone knows their role.
You know I gonna spin wit it
