Clippers have now cornered the market on the best, over the hill guards that have won 0.

imagine relying on Harden, Russ, PG13 and Khawi with no future assets. So glad we are on the other side. Even if LA goes further than us this season, it's so much more fun watching a young, hungry, mostly home grown team vs over the hill washed up, selfish vets.

Maxey player of the week, 30/7/6 on 50%. PHI will be just fine without Harden.

not gonna lie its crushing that we passed on not just Hali, but on Maxey too for Obi. This FO has done a great job overall, but that was such a bad start to this regime, that pick never made any sense whatsoever.

Yep, it’s why you rely on your scouts and not your FO favs

on the contrary. I find it fascinating they keep wringing this out. Isn't Kawahai and Leonard unrestricted or have player options to opt out?
This is like Stallone, Swartzenegger, Lungren and stratham all making one last run.

Im with you that Im glad we are not uberstarphuching but Im not talking smack until the season is over and done. They do them, we do us.
Can't imagine they make a deep playoff run with all 4 healthy but if they can, that might be kind of fun.

I hope Melo can get in the gym and perhaps make one more go of it. If GSW is out, maybe Paul gets bought out and he too goes?

As for Philly, thats a better return than expected. They get all kinds of expirings. The swaps could be interesting and the pick later in the decade might be nice. who knows. Can Nurse win with this group of vets around Embiid? Does Joel ask out with drama or they just wait it out?

In the end Harden has enough talent to get his way. Clippers have enough to resign all these guys? Westbrick on an easy deal, the others? I don't know. Balmer wants to win, is building his own arena next season. He is not stupid. I think?? LOL........

Meanwhile the Drose miracle in Memphis is 0-4. Jackson off to slow start. Windhurst was saying the Fiba guys are off to a slow start. Brunson is as well. RJ? Maybe his youth is the key? Glad Drose is getting a last hurrah but its more likley he starts to wear down again. 21 more games until Jah returns.

You had a team desperate for a PG or a long defensive wing that could shoot, and Cole, Vassell, Maxey, Hali all on the board. I always said a monkey could have picked from a hat and made a better pick. It was literally anyone but Obi for me and we picked Obi.

The Obi pick is the one thing that really has held us back from being a very special team. It set us back. Vassell, Maxey or Hali on this team could have been really special. Maybe we don't get Brunson in that case though, maybe that's the silver lining. But really all of those guys could have played ALONGSIDE Brunson.

I think not going for KP also was a big blunder, but not nearly as big as drafting Obi.

Maxey was a player we was targeting but was selected before we settled on IQ. Both players were around the same range late first (21 and 25). FO wanted obi and Maxey in this draft. Instead got obi and IQ which isn’t bad, but who knew Randle would have a career year. Guess selecting obi helped lit a fire under Randle.

Vassell and haliburton are the players we missed on at 11 and 12th pick (thinking obi would replace Randle).

Maxey was later. I say thanks to Randle because I believe obi was selected to replace Randle. If Jules had a solid year prior to the draft, we would’ve drafted vassell or haliburton. So blame Randles up and down yearly play. Seems like every other year he looks like an all star (1st option). The off years he looks like a roll player or 3rd or 4th option.

Harden in LA won't end well. Who destroys their team first between Kyrie and him?

I got the impression that Obi was a Leon and Wes pick. Not sure what they saw. And it looks like they had Vassell over Hali? Something like that

This is good for the Knicks. A legit team is going to have cap space and now teams like Toronto, etc. have to be on edge.

Woj on his podcast indicates Philly has the goods to take the booty from the Harden deal and do a deal this season.
Likley they could have made a play for Jrue Holiday (Woj said this). They have cap space for next year with Siakim and OG that can shake loose.
They have a path to show Embiid they can compete. I missed that thinking they in full rebuild. Resign, take Harris back on a smaller deal, sign Siakim or OG and thats a good team with Embiid and Maxey. Woj did not elaborate on any targets BTW.

Its a path. From what I read Embiid is not unhappy in Philly and a move to NY is no slam dunk given the price it would take to bring him here. Look at what they got for Harden!!!!
He is the reigning MVP and if not asking out they don't need to move him. Not in the division and up the street in NYC!!!

What works? (Spitballing), IQ and Randle for Towns........thought here is Towns does what many do and is healthier on the back of his career. It happens.
Soft? Not if he is understands as more mature Thibs way of doing things and is a better player going forward. If Thibs and FO don't think this, then don't do it.
Randle is an allstar and IQ is an up and coming player. Conley is on his last year of a deal and aging out. Core of Ant, McDaniels, Randle, and IQ, is not bad.
Why does Minny do this? If they do, its not until the trade deadline and the team is not clicking. IF think they can seed well and go second round out west they don't do this.

Knicks are ready to pounce on a deal but won't force it.

Nalod nausea spitball: Cavs trade Donovan Mitchell to Philly? Can't say when. If Cav's don't match last year and DM is showing his ass to want out, well then if you can't play in Westchester or Brooklyn, Philly is a train ride away!

I assume that they expected to trade Randle after he got back some value. Fortunately, Randle overshot expectations and we became competitive. Unfortunately, Obi never became a priority. Won't lie, I had Vassel over both. But I also had Deni as the top target in that range. KP is due for an extension and I don't believe he's good enough to landlock the cap situation for the next few years. I'm fine with the FO passing on him. I don't feel good with the FO punting on picks the past few years. Going forward, it's imperative that the team compiles cheap young talent. Doesn't have to be every year, but you can't go three years with Trevor Keels being the only thing to show for.

The Knicks don't have the minutes for any more young guys and I think they have turned that proverbial corner of hunting for playoffs to solidly in playoffs? Or at least are competitive on that playoff level.

Tough balance.

And to make up for all of this, Knicks have 2 firsts and 3 seconds this upcoming 2024 draft.

Something has to shake out soon.

I mean, didn't Kyrie already destroy the Mavs? Top 2 player in the league and didn't make the playoffs?
