So I guess Worldwide will continue working from the shadows. I forgot about the NBA's new, ineffectual tampering rules and how bad this could look.
https://nypost.com/2020/02/11/world-wide-wes-wont-be-in-knicks-front-office-after-all/

Reports last week said William Wesley would be joining incoming president Leon Rose in the team’s front office. Tuesday night, however, The Athletic, reported Wesley will not join the Knicks in any official capacity.

None of this simple. We'll see how it goes.

There is no proven method. It all comes down to capitalizing on value and circumstance. Phil signing Noah wasn't the problem. Phils signing Noah to a 4 yr deal was the problem. If Noah was had for s a 1-2 yr deal then noone would really have a problem with that shot in the dark attempt at playoffs. If they look to starphuck, then judgement will come based on value and circumstance. Trading 2 first round picks for Chris Paul in order to just have someone to start off with would be terrible value, and doesn't fit the circumstances. Neither would trading 3-4 picks for Booker or something. Then contining to sell off assets to attempt to make the starphuck work.

The best thing that could happen is us hitting on this yrs draft pick along with Barrett, Mitch & any one of the other young prospects taking large steps. Then utilzing some of the assets we have to bring it together with a proven stud. With assets still left over to fall back on still. And if they really wanted to play high level chess. They would also look to continue to flip some of these picks for multiple future picks hoping to catch someone slipping and net a lotto pick out of it.

Is there a game changer in this yr draft that no one knows about?

It sound like your saying lets just be a bad team until we one day we land that special player in the draft.

Let me asked you something, If you had and opportunity to do what Miami did twice (once with shaq, then bosh and and labron)or what The celtics did (with KG and ray allen) in order to win a championship now, would you do that?

This post comes off like you didn't comprehend anything I said. But i'll play along.

Is there a game changer in this yr draft that no one knows about?

Donovan Mitchell wasn't viewed as a game changer going into the draft. Niether was Paul George, or Kwahi Leonard, or Klay Thompson, etcX100.... We need that type of break.

It sound like your saying lets just be a bad team until we one day we land that special player in the draft.

The first words stated in my post was "there is no proven method". Followed up by "it all comes down to capitalzing on value and circumstances". Meaning it wouldn't matter if it was through the draft or any other process. As long as the value holds up and the circumstances matched. For example I wouldn't even have a problem trading for Chris Paul if we were a championship calibre team. If he was able to be had in a salary dump with maybe offering a future protected pick to attempt to get over the hump. Trading the pick could be an option as well *IF THE VALUE AND CIRCUMSTANCES* make sense. But being able to draft one is still the best outcome since he would have a rookie scale salary. And his timeline would match.

Let me asked you something, If you had and opportunity to do what Miami did twice (once with shaq, then bosh and and labron)or what The celtics did (with KG and ray allen) in order to win a championship now, would you do that?

These examples you are talking about are prime examples of capitalizing on value and circumstance. Miami blew up their playoff team that lost to the Knicks and netted 2 lotto picks in Caron Butler and Wade, I believe in back to back yrs. As well as cleared up their cap while they tanked those yrs to net Lamar Odom as a free agent. Then capitalized on Shaq and Kobe having a falling out. With Shaq being one of the most dominant players in the league with a few end of prime yrs left. These teams you named paired up draft picks that hit(Wade, Pierce) with proven superstar 2-way players capitalizing on value and circumstances.

Ok i get it, but based on history, who have we drafted and developed other Ewing, Starks, Mason. We don't have an ounce of evidence to prove otherwise, and there's been dozen and dozens of young players to be drafted or signed as FA's, who develop into anything note worthy

Do you know what Ganis, PG13, Mitchell, kawhi all have in come besides where they were picked, they all went to small market teams. NY isn't for everybody, and IMO, it's not a good environment for most young players to develop in...show me proof..

Any success the NYK ever had came from a veteran roster with a couple of nice young role players, like starks, houston types

Now here's what else I want you to think about, of all the players that had success in NYC, and there's been so few (Ewing, King, Sprewell, Mason, harper,Camby, KT, Amare, Starks, Melo..80's, 90's 2k) now compare those personalities, the competitiveness, the work ethic, the energy, to Knox, Frank, DSJ..

Playing those guys in extended garbage minutes because the season is a wash, is exactly why they have not developed nicely and continue to take losing as another day at the office..

For all the draft picks that you can name that didn't work out. I can name A LOT more veterans that failed all the same. But none of that matters as that's all general and broad. Looking at the Knicks current and specific situation. There is no Shaq, KG or Kwahi to steal from another team at this moment.

If AD decides to come here as a FA for what ever reason. Then that would change the circumstances. Then looking to package Randle with some prospects or future picks for proven player to pair with AD and Barrett/Mitch makes sense if the value is right. Looking to also trade the lotto pick for a 4th guy as well makes sense. With the Knicks still having a bunch of future assets to fall back on due to collecting.

Or Knicks hit on their draft picks. And maneuver similarly to the way explained previously. Unless you can name the vets you want to acquire and the value your looking to offer for them. Your general posting doesn't really hold weight.

I wasn't just talking about young players, i mean there's been 100's of vets as well, thats why I said NY isn't for every one, too many distractions if your not a FOCUS person...

Too many players have partied their way out of NY..

Let me ask you this, what kind of Impact do you think all this losing has on the young players, all these drastic changes every yr?

We have to clean house from top to bottom with the exception of a couple players. Thats what I expect, thats how it has been for every single new presidentt, From I T, to walsh, to phil, to Mills.

Morris was the best acquisition in mills entire tenure, he has that NY vibe, energy, and mentality, he reminds me of LJ a lot..Those are the type of players I want in NY..

watch him

ha! that is literally the theme of all his posts.

Morris was good Mr1248. Everyone here liked Morris and everything about him. What you dont get is that Morris is not a player you build around. He's complimentary. He's great next to Kawhi Lenard and Paul George, not instead of those guys. So the question remains the same, how do we get the star players? Once you have those getting guys like Morris is easy. Does Morris and his $15mm salary help us get them? Does another chance in the draft help us? Does having another draft asset in case a star player demands a move help us? This is a game of chess. You gotta see past your tic tac toe board on this one

This Artūras guy sounds intriguing. This as a GM would mean we're definitely back on the merry-go-round. I assume the JVG is a courtesy thing, but I guess we shouldn't assume anything.

Artūras or shall we call him "Art", got a contract extension a year ago in Denver. Does Denver want to let him walk? Does he have an "Out Clause"? Just internet fodder?
They going to let him walk before the end of the season? Before the draft? Same as Ujiri, doe he want to leave Denver? Does he bring back Kuz?

Don't know. Shwinny from Posting and Toasting thinks it can get done. Maybe it costs a second round pick that never conveys like with Perry?

I believes the overall failures of the Knicks over the yrs have had more to do with overpaying for talent as well as poor roster construction. Than it has had to do with players not being built for NY.

This Knicks this off season signed 7 veteran free agents this off season. Attempting to make a playoff push. 3 yrs prior traded for Derek Rose and signed multiple other veteran FAs to pair with Carmelo Anthony for a playoff push. This isn't to say that getting veterans are bad. But you are pushing false narrative as if the Knicks have strictly been tanking with youth.

I think the Knicks did purposely sign vets but I also thought a playoff push would have been just a bonus if it came true, distant goal and attainable if EVERYTHING went right while some other teams faltered. Feel like there are 7 solid East playoff teams with Brooklyn being that 7th team and not doing very well this year. Detroit and Orlando have obviously fallen back (7th, 8th seed last year). Opportunity from the perspective of other East teams not doing well is there but the Knicks as a team are not.

IMO vets were there to provide stability and a decent environment for the young guys to play amongst. Mostly didn't work and injuries and coaching stupidity took over.

I agree, I think being in the situation we have been in since Miller has taken over would have been sufficient for the FO. My comment was more to challenge Knicks1248's narrative. He wants to speak in general terms about winning/losing environments. Knicks attempted to put a foot forward towards winning by doing exactly what you stated above. Provide stability and a decent environment for young guys to play amongst. Which is exactly what he(1248) claims to be asking for. But since the *results* didn't exactly line up....
