Well, at least we kept trying- not the 20pt blow out people were expecting. Hope we've got some gas in the tank left for the Jazz game, don't want to go home on a 5 game losing streak.

We played great when we were moving the ball. Once the ball stopped moving the Clips went on a run and that was all.

Not a bad idea right about now.

Not that it matters but the division lead is only a half game now and BK plays ATL at home later.

We need the Hawks to win that one- to lose the division to the Nets after leading them most of the season would be an absolute heartbreaker, don't even want to think about it!

And I believe BK has the tiebreaker on us b/c they have a better division record than us.

We blew that home game vs them- gave them a 3-1 edge over us so they own the first tie breaker.

This is to force the defense to have to react and create open shots on the perimeter or score at the basket/midrange. We have too many dumb players handling the ball rather than moving the ball and moving themselves.

Knicks need to dig in on D and hope to keep the pace slow.

But the whole reason we got Felton was because he's a legit smart veteran penetrator and distributor with a track record.

Felton is a teletubby. distributor? He probably averages like 3-4 assists per game.

He was playing pretty good to start the year. What do you think has changed between now and then? Maybe all the hand and other injuries are just adding uo

Or maybe every team in the league knows exactly what we will do all game long? Becuase we don't have a offensive system?

Bingo!!! It is all on the coach. We don't have any offensive system in place. Woodson has absolutely no set plays. Woodson is the total opposite of Doc Rivers.

I've been critical of Woody as well. Mainly it's the double teaming and constant switching on D that i HATE.

But George Karl has come out and said he doesn't have any set plays either this season. It's basically just RUN RUN RUN ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK. Easier to do w/ a young team + distributor in Lawson and Iggy and Vet Andre Miller than our squad I guess.

So..both the Knicks and the Nugs don't really run set plays. Tough to say that's the only/main factor in why we're not doing well.

Look at Denver games - They play TEAM BALL - Gallo, Faried, Iggy, Lawson all share the scoring, you cant win against them by shutiing one person down. That's what has been happening to us since our 18-6 start. Denver has multiple weapons and are using them we don't and don't. The reason our team was built this way is because MElo and Woody didn't want ofensive weapons they wanted one way defense only players so MElo could get his shots. For what Woody does we don't really need a PG, we can get by with a warm body walking the ball up court and dumping it to Melo/JR or creating a turnover by failing to do so. This team is painful to watch and I could live with that if the defense was solid and consistent - but the defense right now isn't even in the top 15th.

So why do you watch and torture yourself? Become a Nuggets fan then you won't have to complaine.

Recognizing that the Nuggets have a good team doesn't mean we should turn in our Knicks cards and switch teams. Any fan of Basketball is gonna have other teams that they like and follow besides the Knicks. Just like we like watching other players who aren't on the Knicks. Truth is that Denver has been better than the Knicks since the trade and they're better right now. Don't hate the messenger hate the game!!! Both teams made their decisions on how to build their teams and so far we see which is proving to be more successful. That can change, but right now it's Denver.

Agree that the best teams in the league play team ball (Denver, San Antonio, Miami, etc)

Here's the crazy part. In the beginning of the season we looked like one of the best teams in the league and were playing team ball. That was WITH Melo, JR, etc. Melo was playing great team ball. He was defending with EFFORT and making smart passes. The entire team was passing well and defending.

I have absolutely no idea what happened to that team but logic would dictate that with the same players and the same coach..we should be able to rediscover that IDENTITY.

I don't know what our identity is now.

Our main go to sets were Melo on the block iso and high pick and roll. In the event that both of those were denied, we had our hot 3 pt shooting to save them. Teams adjusted to the high pick and roll, our shooting has disappeared, and Melo is injured. The team may not be able to go back to how they played in the beginning of the season (god I hope im wrong).

Assuming Melo comes back his healthy dominant self.

I agree that teams had adjusted to our pick and roll.

?: If teams can shut down OUR pick and roll. Why is it that on D it seems like we can't shut down other teams running the same exact play?

Papabear Says

That's because Woody is a hard head. All he has to do is make Melo and JR stop shooting so much and pass the ball if they don't then sit them down.

Anyone else worried that while Tyson was behind the bench in a suit Melo was somewhere in the building getting treatment? No word on tomorrow. I really hope he sits until at least the Raptor game next Friday. I am starting to worry that his knee maybe worse then just needing to be drained.

For some reason, Melo and Amar'e rarely sit on the bench when injured, and are always 'in the trainers room getting treatment'- think they're just trying to avoid the press. I'm worried about his knee, but I don't think him not being on the bench has anything to do with it either way. I don't think he or Chandler will be playing in the Jazz game, and as much as we need a win that's the right decision.
